Wow, I thought Frei was suspicious but I never once thought he was the boy from the start of the arc. Draka putting her fate up to chance or god as she put it was a great moment. Not only did it show her mental flexibility and respect for everyone in the room, but it inspired Schmitt to finally acknowledge her.

Jolenta's letter has to be for her father, right? I don't think he has enough power to help publish a book of this magnitude, but maybe Jolenta still has some connections to the astronomy group from her youth? Ahhh, this show.

Bastard... i knew there would be a traitor!!! That Frei is too suspicious! Ugh good thing the Captain didn't change his mind and stab Frei in the throat. 25 minutes is too short for such tense moments AHHHH I swear now they will all die T____T except Draka and the Captain maybe?

Oh God when I read Jolenta's name as the author of the book I got goosebumps... like, wow... this journey... from Rafal to Jolenta... year after year has passed with so many people died and this book could be published even because of Oczy's notes... honestly I desperately hope that in the ending the book did get published... or at least a few pages with Jolenta's name.... and Nowak saw it... that would be awesome....

If you ever wondered when an anime transcends to masterpiece status, it's right now. This episode marks the culmination of everything the series has done right. Orb doesn't hold your hand or push you in a certain direction, no! Instead, it rawly and masterfully ensnares you into its immersive world. Pure class!

Convictions really come at a price and throughout this episode Draka was one who really paid with belongings, saving and change of plans. The printing animation was fascinating and with Dr Stone airing in the same season saying that it was on par or maybe better on that scientific in nothing to scoff about. Also, Frei's betrayal was something I had been expecting but what I didn't realize was that he was the unnamed boy with his father murdered. Finally, those dots are connected and onwards comes the plan for Draka to escape in order to find a way to publish that book.

And that book is titled "On the movements of the Earth". Befitting, captivating, inspiring, but most of all, revolutionary.

Draka may not be Jolenta's daughter as I had thought, but after this episode, I consider Draka her spiritual daughter.

Damn! Why does it have to have a traitor?

Frei reached where he did solely because he didn't work under anyone except his conviction, and that it became both his strength and limits which again proves Jolenta's prespective here, it deserves praise.

Is it just me or the animation somehow felt smoother this episode? Like randomly at one point the fabric at the back of the cart was flowing really smoothly in the wind (3:37)

The way this episode can hold the tension of the plot and release such a wavering uncertainty is great. This one had it all: betrayal, passion and belief. Really incredible all 'round.

Can't wait for the OST especially to hear the sequence that began at around 5:30 - the music has been carrying the atmosphere too.

*Also did anyone realize the foreshadowing that the OP gave out??? At one point we see Jolenta facing the Sun in a field but in the next frame there is an explosion in which she dies (‼️‼️) Can't believe they basically hid that in plain sight

I knew Frei seemed sus from the beginning, his betrayal and Schmidt's fight scene with him made me really like Schmidt's character now.

Also it was so beautiful how Draka wanted to honor Jolenta's legacy putting her name as the book's author. Her lifelong wish of having a published work in her name is now finally complete!! I wonder if Nowak will see her name in there.

Love how the book's title is the series subtitle!

Splendid episode, but i've expected such a thing as soon as Schmitt started talking about wavering and whatnot. Things never go as smoothly as planned in anime, or at least they rarely do. I really do hope at least Schmitt and Draka survives, rather than Draka alone, cuz i can't imagine her succeeding my herself, honestly. Furthermore, Schmitt is honestly too interesting to die this soon. Just like how i expected even more of badass Jolenta, only for her to literally die an episode later, so i don't know. 4 more episodes until this show concludes, excited to see what's there in store for us.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13, NIV)

The so-called heretics reflect the words of the Bible more than the Church itself. They sacrifice themselves as martyrs, entrusting themselves to someone they barely know.
A truly powerful scene!

The writing is so fire man, God.

Holy fuck, so the kid in the flashback was Frei and not Schmidt. I knew something was not adding up, cause why would that kid after what he experienced grow up to be someone like Schmidt, now it all makes sense. Though it wasn't surprising that Frei would betray them, he has been very sus from the start.

The aura in that last scene man, 4 episodes left and I'm sure they will all be peak at this point.

"We're fishermen," say two guys in absolute white suits with capes, and people believe them. It's like if two guys in clown costumes came up and said they were diplomats. The cop immediately, just for fun, started rummaging through someone else's stuff looking for a rag, but the gypsy girl saved the day. Guys, she is useful ! 😆

Looks like they tricked the gypsy when they paid her with lead coins. Literally, no one has ever made coins out of lead, since it's soft, heavy, and easily deformed. On the other hand, why do they need these coins if they could just melt down the broken letters themselves? Look, guys, the girl is so useful! 😂 Here’s a smartly written character.

One guy blocks a sword strike with a table knife in a two-handed grip. 😦 Okay. Another guy is outraged by the gypsy's plan, like, "We're going to rise against the church!" But what were they doing before when they were smashing inquisitors left and right and blowing up temples?
After a couple of dull episodes, the series finally starts to resemble a decent comedy again, which is definitely a good thing.

Weird I started feeling suspicious of Frei before he even revealed anything. I laughed as the sword was plunged into his throat never getting what he wanted in his back stabbing. That makes so much more sense that kid was him in the past.

Interesting seeing Draka go against her original conviction for money and then Schmidt goes against his complacency in leaving everything up to God.

Seeing the first page of the book was such an impactful moment; we'd been waiting for so long! I was overjoyed that Draka participated with her coins (character development, y'all!)!

The betrayal was scary, and although it came out of nowhere, I did start feeling tense before they showed the blood on the guy's feet ; the scene was masterfully crafted. I had honestly forgotten about the whole backstory with the burning crosses. Now, I'm wondering if he broke the pieces on purpose, so he could go to the village and betray the organization.

Draka's plan is bold, and the guys' decision to follow it at the end made me so happy! I'm hyped for what's coming!

In the heat of the night, Schmidt having to outrun the knights in a professional manner, and Asch almost gave the plot away, thanks to Draka with the last-minute cover-up recovery. And it's high time that she embraces Jolenta's conviction, but also some of her own as well. And bringing her to the rest of the Liberation Front members to see the printing press, whilst letting them know that Jolenta has sacrificed herself for this mission to expand horizons, there's no time to waste completing the book itself.

It's finally time to put the book into succession, and with some of the letterheads broken, Schmidt kind of knew what went down, and Draka with the worthless coins being used for lead, provides a temporary solution for the letterpress. But the traitor within the midst being Frei, Schmidt has no feelings and only wants to see things towards the very end, for someone whose life conviction is the hatred of heretics, something which resonated with Frei all those years ago. But with no horses to escape, and the land they're in too easy to spot if they try to escape, there's only that one option available to them...or so they think, because Draka still has a plan to convince the knights to feign ignorance with the changing of the times. That, however, doesn't slide with Schmidt, because their chances of realizing the dream will be marginally low, and Draka deciding to play with God's fate, puts everyone in danger, though Schmidt soon overturns that decision and focuses on Draka's escape.

Honestly, having Draka escape bears the highest chance the book still lives.

Printing press time o_o always the gamechanger back in these days

It's all too fitting that the book they're going to make is the title of the show. The perfect way to encapsulate what this show has been from the start. And I want to see Nowak's face when he comes across that book. His face especially, given her struggle to make it anywhere in academia while she was alive.

rip getting betrayed by your comrade tho.. that's tough. Put em in the tough position where they're losing something. But it's even crazier to think that she would leave her fate to God when she previously refused to rely on a coinflip. These guys (and ladies) have guts O_O frfr

Wow so Fry was that kid from the religious family that got killed in the flashback... and he betrayed them (he got killed by Schmitt though), I still feel bad for him because of his background tbh...

Anyway now they have to escape, how ironic it is to do a heads or tails to ask god and then change the result, so Schmitt and his men will sacrifice for Draka to survive with the book...

Schmidt is a real mustache-twirling G.

Funnily, I subscribe to Draka's method of breaking a deadlock via coin flip. It gives me clarity if it turns out I disagree with the result lol
