This whole anime was an amazing experience.

Menma's note to Jintan - I lost it. I cried so hard I thought my eyes were going to fall out of my head.

I had a suspicion of that, since I always found it strange that her spirit stayed here, and that

what an incredible series. It'll definitely be a favorite, drama at the end was a little bit over the top but god i can overlook that. I had to rewatch when Poppo broke down, just so powerful and damn the voice acting was great.

I'm proud to say that I followed this series when it was aired. It was definitely a memorable show. Really struck home for me.

I'm already holding my tears when everyone is confessing.
When all of them is reading those last letters of hers, my tears can't stop at all.

Does she ever says that though? I think it really was an accident. The reason everyone was in the shack that day was precisely because Menma wanted ideas on how to fullfill the promise. Seems strange that she'd stage a suicide during all that chaos after the screwed-up forced confession.

So I haven't been too big on this show for the last few episodes, but this one really changed my views on it. The show went from a 4 to a 8 on my list just based on this episode.

I have a feeling the way the final scene in Episode 9 played out may have been a key clue in regards to how she died.

Menma was carefree and absentminded when it came to danger. Heck, throughout the series you see her teetering on ledges and stuff. I get the feeling she saw something that intrigued her, maybe even a Koi fish, and she went in after it not realizing the current would be too strong for a dainty girl her age.

Yes, she did always had a thing for walking on thin ledges and dangerous places.

they were made that way.

Then they must be really dumb. One to be guilty has to participate in the action. If they think "Ow If i was there that wouldn't have happened" and shit like that, they are just irrational, worst is, it's 5 characters not one or two.

Uh, no, their reactions were a tool used to humanize them. And I can say that it worked quite effectively albeit a little exaggerated.

I don't think it's so much a case of "if I was there that wouldn't have happened" as it is "if I wasn't there, that wouldn't have happened". All characters were affected by Menma's death because the Super Peace Busters was a group, not with one or two (+Menma), but with all five (+Menma).

I know you're trolling, but I have time.

I started to cry halfway through the episode. Doesn't matter if people are saying that the ending was disappointing, It just means that they enjoyed it in a different light. We're human so we're bound to be diverse in one way or another.

Yes you're right, that is a little different, but doesn't stop to being irrational. You can't blame yourself for being with your friends playing around and because something bad happend you start to blame yourself. Specially when you're kids. (Also, their parents should be the ones blaming themselves, letting their kids playing near the river lol).

I'm not trolling, this isi really my opinion and I stated it here knowing most people though otherwise. As you can see I don't have much posts, they belong mostly to anohana and FMA Brotherhood discussion kind of my fav and less fav anime. And because my less fav anime is favourite to lots of people, or at least very good, the need to post here rose up. (So ok, it's a little bit trolling).

This coming from a typical shounen lover. You rate almost every anime with romance low while you 10 almost every typical shounens. Why even bother watching it romances? Stop bashing animes that have nothing to do with your taste.

No, he's absolutely right.
The characters are just awful, they are all one-dimentional. But Menma and Jintan are the worst...
Why are they idolizing Menma so much? We don't know. The drama is forced, everything rely on Menma's death.

I cry easily but yet I've not even shed a single tear... why? Because there is no characterisation in this anime, they don't give me any reasons to care about a single character.

I assume you've never experienced a loss of someone dear to you. Save your pathetic and shallow comments for the time your best friend/family member dies, then we'll see.

AnoHana is the finest execution of SLICE OF LIFE genre. This show is just like life itself. Your saiyng that its characters are one-dimentional proves that we were watching two completely different shows.

why because we say we don't like it you say it's because we never experienced someone death?

Because it's wrong in my case.

No it's not the finest execution of Slice of Life Genre, far from it actually. It's not like life itself, that's Clannad, not even Clannad due to excess of harem, but it's much closer to it. Actually Anohana is far from realism, and I'm not talking due to the supernatural stuff, everything is unrealistic, the way the characters act for example.

Not sure she goes to heaven anyway, 'heaven' is just a translation artefact, the show never clearly relate to heaven as known in the Christian or Islamic cultures.

Seeing as how Buddha is constantly being denoted in the series, Buddhism also indicates that suicide is a negative form of action and will result to a bad karma.

However, as you say.. we don't know if she's going to heaven or rather reincarnated based on their belief for the afterlife.

Menma was taught of reincarnation by Yadomi's mother. She wanted to fullfill the promise and then reincarnate, she outright says that. "Heaven" was just a blanket term used by the translators for our convenience. After all, she said she woukd reincarnate after going to heaven even though western belief states Heaven is a final destination, not just a pit-stop while we wait for our new life..

OMG.

This had me basically crying, my eyes were watering, and I'm find saying that being 22yr old male.

This was an amazing anime. And having it play this season, made my watching list for this season SOOO much better.

Yes, there are the likes of [C], and Bleach, etc, but the variety was good alone, however, it was the content, that was incredible. Maybe I sound corny or cliche, but I LOVED this

I am very sad to see it end, for two reasons. One, because the show literally ended, and two, because of the ending, it made me so sad. I'm usually not like that, I'm just, wow

RATED 5
LOVED THIS
Any anime that can touch me like that, is great imo. I'll be rating this very high on my list

IMHO it's awesome how this anime is currently rated that high on MAL^^
But I must say, it was corny. It was really good, but still it might ain't something you would show your male friends. But who cares^^
I gave it a 8 of 10. Reason: I rate Honey and Clover 9 of 10.
Maybe I should just rethink my way of rating xD
anyways, want moar of good drama shows like this!

There was so much crying in this episode it made me laugh rather than sympathize with the characters. Don't know why. I guess it's a good ending but I'd like to see some short ova like what happened after Menma was gone.

Yes she did and she also most likely wanted to see her friends back together and still loving her, which she got as a wish at the end where everyone screams out that they do.

Some westerns do believe that when you go to heavens you are allowed to reincarnated. There different forms of why and the conditions but certain deviations in religions bent that towards reincarnation. Point being it's also integrated into western religion.

I'm pretty sure Christianity in general believes in the return of Christ, not in perpetual reincarnation. Smaller religions outside of it might, but the other big religion in the West and Middle East is Islam which doesn't believe in reincarnation either as far as I know.

One of the saddest anime's ever. I never was so sad that I felt I could cry, The only animes to make me feel this sad were Clannad after story and this Anohana. Clannnad after story made me feel a lot more emotion anger and sad, sad. This made me feel more happy sad. If any of that makes since.

I thought I couldn't be more dissapointed this season when I saw C's ending or when watching the entirety of Dog Days, but lo and behold, I was wrong. There really wasn't any resolution to everyone's crippling emotional problems and quite a few plot threads were just not handled well. Had really high hopes for this but... meh. 11 episodes was not enough time to tell this tale and it shows.

I'd say the soundtrack probably is the only thing good about this anime.
The director seems can do nothing other than "play sad music in background -show memory scene - make characters cry".

Which is okay normally but annoying as hell if they do this same trick like 3 times each episode. I get bored of it ohhhh so quickly.

If i only watched the first and last episode it could be a very good show for me. Everything in middle was... well, pretty unnecessary.
