Why would that door be so heavily guarded when you can't even open the door as a player anyway? Kirito had the card, but still.

Daaah, cliffhangers!!

Because the players must be killed before they realize that the city in the World Tree is a lie.

It still has a quite unforgivable death penalty. Death here can set you back for months.

So what? It's still just a game, not a matter of life and death.

I agree, I sort of wish they did up until the last few episodes it went quite fillerish, recon got rejected then killed himself with a greater death penalty .. oh wells would be nice to see him get together with sugu in the last 2 episodes.. never know, heroism could change a girls feelings.

Uh? He never became important..and he was hardly a strong supporting character. It's been a major weakness of this show since the start in that it hardly cares about it's supporting characters.

1. Kirito is being the typical harem male lead that everyone ironically thinks is so yasashii for stringing all of them along...

2. Yui comments Kirito might be able to get past everything with his speed stats, but for some reason he spends most of the time standing around. Even when Recon sacrificed himself, he was just there watching.

3. Yui comments that the game must have intended for it to be impossible because there were too many enemies, yet it didn't seem hard for the Sylphs to annihilate all the enemies in their range Gundam-style.

4. That scene where Kirito caught Leafa mid-air and spun around for 2 minutes was... *blech*

5. If only by holding swords Kirito could simultaneously charge past hundreds of enemies, imagine what Zorro from One Piece could have done.

6 Kirito should have used some of his 100 billion gold pieces that he gave away to buy a second sword for himself. But then again, foresight isn't required in God Mode.

^Basically Kirito is Neo and SAO or whatever is the Matrix.

If you think of it like that, then it makes sense!

If you think of it like any rational thinking person, then the plot holes plot grand canyons quickly start to reveal themselves.

It's unfortunate, it really is......because this is a very FUN anime when it's not dealing with important matters.

So bad.... its so bad. I feel the same way I did after watching Zero no Tsukaima. A show that had such promise with a wealth of characters and interesting setting degrade with gigantic plot holes, retarded god mode abilities by the main characters and an abundance of dues ex machinas to advance the already butchered plot.

The show has been declining rapidly in my eyes starting with episode 14. I already have a deep seeded feeling that even after Asuna has been rescued, which is obviously going to happen, Kirito's trials and tribulations(if you even want to call them that) to get her back are completely hallow, so the entire reunion will feel stale. Basically felt like I just watched an extra 10 episodes for no real reason other than expanding upon kirito's and sugu's relationship, which obviously hasn't really gone anywhere either.

This show is giving me nothing but headache's nowadays, yet I feel still emotionally attached enough to finish it. I've gone from a 9/10 on episode 13 to currently a 6/10, depending on how bad these next two episodes can get it might even go down to a 4 or 5.

Decent adaptation. The beam drill attack wasn't too bad. But it was cliche. Some badass moves with intricate dual wielding slicing motions would've been cooler though.

I'm still sore they skipped the Monster God part. There was a bit more development there between Kirito and his sister, and it was cool overall.

I get the vibe that after they rescue Asuna, Kirito will give Suguha a chance to vie for his affection, thereby completely ruining the build-up between Kirito and Asuna that the SAO arc provided.

I'll also assume, without ever having read the original novels, that in each arc, Kirito will pick up a new "girlfriend", and at the end of the stories, he will have something like 7 girls, and there will be a beach scene and a trial of courage scene at a temple, and possibly a summer vacation at a mansion on an island that one of the girl's uncles own (there always is).

I've been lurking for quite a while now. I normally dislike participating in forums and the such, but this..
I seriously need to get this out of my system. Rant incoming, ignore me if you wish.

I absolutely loved SAO. I adored it. I think the general idea of it is one the most interesting, thought provoking and flat-out amazing stories ever conceived, and albeit terribly flawed in its execution and storytelling, it truly stands out from the rest. It could have been so much, it could be so much, it should be so much that it pains me.

I devoted an hour to acquiring the light novel after reading the first line of the description. That's all it took. I'd never read a light novel before, but I just knew I needed to get the full unadultered story. I read the entire series within the span of a few days. I'll just resume it, without spoilers, and say that it was a truly brilliant idea that was never executed to anything near its full potential.

This could have been Harry Potter. This could have been Lord of the Rings. The general idea was that good. It was simple and infinitely explorable. It could have been a metaphor for life itself. It could have been as deep as Evangelion and as entertaining as Death note.

Alas, it was not.
But it was most certainly not this. Not this anime. No.
I started watching this anime with the greatest hope. I wanted to like it so bad that it hurt. I wanted it to get right all the things that the LN got wrong. I wanted more of that story that I fell in love with. I was delusional.

For twenty two episodes I saw my hopes crumble bit by bit. It was a beautiful massacre. Yeah, that's right, it was beautiful. The art was beautiful, I think, at least until this last episode. I just couldn't bear to watch it anymore.

I'm not going to go into specifics because I just can't bring myself to do it. This was not an anime failing to live up to great expectations. It was me lowering them unconsciously throughout months in the misguided hope that it could somehow still make it right.

You see, I was taught something, a long time ago. Whenever I judge art, I hold a very precious rule. You cannot judge any book until the last dot in the last sentence of the last page. You cannot judge any movie until the last second has gone by. Because it is always possible that you just haven't been given every piece to the puzzle, and you cannot judge a painting if you're not seeing it in its entirety.

But this was too much for me, this time. I cannot bear to see my hopes butchered any longer. It was a pain to see every metaphor and idea explored in the LN butchered into fanservice. It was a pain to feel the lack of dramaticism and nervousness and anxiety that you could literally feel oozing out of Kirito in the novel.
Instead of the emotional bond and connection that led you to turn every page with increasing anxiety, all I could do was cringe and wait for the episode to end.

I will not be watching any more of the episodes. I won't do that to myself anymore.
I will not watch the second season that will inevitably come.

I will only hope in vain that someday, someone does what they did with Full Metal Alchemist, only take it even further. I hope someone, someday, tells the story that Sword Art Online should have been.

I apologize, once again, for this meaningless rant.

Hmm, so... hmmm, Well, i have to admit that this episode wasn't thaaaaaaat bad, but since SAO gets worse from episode to episode, from tears to more tears, from "oh i love you and i'm not your real sister just some cousin stuff blah asuna is a bitch take me im way cuter and i also play video games and i have a char with big boobs and oh i never knew that my onii chan could be kirito even so that he talks and looks so much like him" crap, but i will watch the last drama episodes as well and see what happens. Maybe some naked asuna would be good.

For me the Recon self sacrifice scene was hilarious after sugu spoke about the heavy death penalty afterwards, i mean in the SOA world once you die that's it you die in real life as well so i guess it felt shallow. Also wish they exploited the dual swords ability instead of a gurren lagann super drill that was used.

As with many animes the producers don't fully explore the content to it's limits which is why i can understand why many don't enjoy the series as much as they could of if it was done with more emphasis on story building, but we have to remember that it's a business and profits will always win. Although i would like to say that i do enjoy SAO and believe it to be a good story worthy of a 8/10 score.

What they always do. They should seriously consider not working on anything again, each time they work on something it turns out to be shit, or well 99% of the time, it's a rarity that they do something well. (the only show they're really doing well is Uchuu Kyoudai, other than that, there is none, at least from the ones I watched or tried to watch)

As for the episode, the animation was glorious, especially Lyfa's ass and the boobs, just like always. In addition to the world of course.

A-1 can't do anything other than slice of life.
As a child, I was told that society is a melting pot of talents; knowledge and experience combined to form important alloys that will contribute to mankind. When I got to highschool, however, I thought that it's more like a river in which the water represents our peers while we ourselves are the stones in the river. Constant erosion by mindless majority sheeping has made us lose our unique edge. After I hit the age of 18, I realized that I've been wrong all along. Society is no melting pot. Society is no river. Society is a person, a very skilled rapist, and he has fucked us all.

^ Not very sure about action stuff but A-1 can do very good job on slice of life shows if you're a fan.

Working!, Ano Hana, The iDOLM@STER, Kannagi.. I like all these titles and Tetsuwan Birdy Decode may not be very popular action series but i like that too. And there is no comparison with DEEN when it comes to art/animation. Fractale have brilliant art/animation in my opinion, even though i didn't like series much.

Adaptations tend to get lot of hatred from fans when they change stuff in anime. So i can't blame SAO LN fans to get very disappointed. I love Beelzebub manga but after seeing anime. I hate Studio Pierrot. I think that's how DEEN got bad reputation because of FsN and JC-Staff because of Tsukihime(?).

And by the way. No matter how much hatred SAO get or LN fans complain. A-1 actually got very successful title in terms of sales.. BUT what can you say, when IS had even more sales. Which is totally crap IMO except art and animation of-course.
