Archer almost disappears from mana but has enough to cast UBW, lol.

I bet it's a mistranslation and Saber actually notes that Archer's mana is "disappearing" instead of the "near 0" that was said in this episode, or something like that. I mean it's the translator who just f*cked up so badly by using "Steel is my body" instead of "I am the bone of my Sword".

Saber just says 「魔力切れ?」"Running out of magical energy?"
Nothing more, nothing less.

Shirou's 「体は剣で出来ている」is "[My] body is made out of swords".
It is neither "I am the man of steel", nor "I am the bone of my sword".
Chants of Archer and Shirou are different.

BEST EPISODE YET. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While the impact maybe wasn't as awesome as it could have been since the lack of build with Shirou's character, but man, they really did highlight why Shirou is fucking awesome nonetheless.

The music, the animation, the ideological battle between Archer and Shirou, the imagery, everything was fantastic. I choked up a little because of how beautiful it was. They nailed the biggest plot point in the whole show, after so many screw ups before it. It doesn't excuse the previous episodes, but it sure as hell mended some serious wounds.

As a standalone episode, I'd give a 10/10. Fucking fantastic. The parts with the Shirous talking to their younger selves, watching Kiritsugu safe him, and realizing the beauty of his ideal was just magnificent. Also the Avalon sequence was so good!

Ladies and gentlemen, this how awesome F/SN can be if done right!

Pretty much this :D
The episode director for this one knew what he was doing. As well executed as anything we've seen so far from ufoFSN

Wut. Omg Shiro has plot armour AND constant healing. He needs to get decapitated by Archer. (is it wrong for me to want him to die? lol to tell the truth i just want Archer to WIN i don't really care if Shiro dies)

So Kiritsugu can use Saber's sheath, but Shirou can't? Interesting... lol

He's not using it. He's just taking advantage of it.

That's actually the literal meaning. Shirou says * ** *** **** ** ** *****. In the VN. Infact, he says the whole chant.

Either way, I guess Nasu wanted to change it a bit. It is AU, after all.

Despite its problems this was a good episode. They made up as much ground on Shirou's character as possible considering how much was left out up till now, which is what I was holding out hope for. The rest of Answer could still be quite memorable, though admittedly I dunno if anime onlies will be able to appreciate it as much.

The closest that I found is at 21:47 after Shirou heals himself, but he tells quite a different thing.

It's just that the VN flows better. Simple as that. While the anime does it justice in certain regards with imagery. There are a lot of problems when you get to HUGE transition points like this. Having read the VN multiple times, I can clearly tell you that I felt more emotion reading and looking at a still image then watching an animation. It's not trying to nit pick its simply stating one is better than the other and is the base of comparison. The biggest issue is the build up to this point with Shirou's characterization and arguably most of the other cast. Anime only viewers have experienced what they experience but VN readers know all the stuff glossed over or omitted which built the scene we are currently watching.

Personally, while this wasn't a bad episode, it was not a good episode either. There are things I liked and things I had problems. There are a few significant translation issues with this script from Aniplex is prob at the forefront of problems with this episode. At least imo. While the core concept is expressed (I suppose) if an anime only viewer gave this episode as a 5/5 it is not wrong for a passionate VN fan to see this as a 3/5. I'm glad to see people enjoying the universe but VN "nit picking" is well justified in nearly all the cases presented.

Ohhhh, Lancer, why you're so based? Being such a badass must be one of his competence. Not only that, but he manage to say awesome one-liners? Could his death be more badass? At least, he didn't die like a certain someone...

Kotomine is really a careless man. Partying with Matou Shinji? Not checking if his zombie servant is actually dead? At that point, he deserved to die. Shinji running like the little bitch he is was awesome too.

I've been wondering, the staff from Ufotable and even Nasu were talking about major changes, but the only major change I noticed was Avalon being activated (at least, it wasn't in the VN, from my memories). There may be other things too, it has been a long time since I've read it, but I believe it was pretty similar.

The shock between their ideals was really beautifully represented. I loved Shirou inner conflict and Archer confronting his hypocrisy. But Shirou is also a great character (not so much in the Fate route), more particuliarly in Heaven Feels route, but in this route, it is where he define his stuborn character.

Worst part of the episode. Creepy shit. Would have expected Shinji to do something like that. Not Kotomine.

...and I can't believe Kotomine is dead.

Really disappointing, overall. But hey, Lancer sure is awesome. I'm glad he was able to do something like that before his actual death. And everything he said about Rin before he died was great. Let's not forget about him beating the crap out of Shinji...again! Too bad he didn't kill that attempted rapist. I really hope Shinji dies before the end of this series. I hate that fucking guy.

Is Shirou's "just because you're correct doesn't mean you're right" the new "people die if they are killed"? I wish he'd start making sense...

Good episode, though. Nice insert song used throughout the big fight. Ufotable's budget is really something else.

Definitely. I wished they used more of those type of scenes before if they were to represent his monologues. Maybe not to the same scale of course, but it helps hearing monologues when you see some type of imagery with it.
