Why not, carbon monoxide poisoning can't stop plot armor. 2) No idea, at all. In an enclosed space environment you probably wouldn't want transportation based on an internal (or external for that matter) combustion engine. My guess is it's an electric motor which provides a power assist to open the door hatch. That doesn't bother me as much as how the car stood up to being buried--although as I think about this, it makes sense that it would only be landscaping dirt on top of the metal external wall. The setting in a (sort of) Dyson sphere/ring does provide them with some wiggle room on questions like this, but it also opens a lot more. (Explosions and projectile weapons in an enclosed space environment...really?) |

So after it over-heats it gets to use an overdrive move?...And how does Haruto even know to stab into Valvrave? Well, I think it was more a programed motion, as I think there is a good reason as to why it didn't just stab into the god damn engine. I mean, the sword went right underneath it, and at the same time, looked turned flat. |

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

I'm thinking they intentionally sub it that way. Still doesn't change how typical of a main character Haruto is though. That confession was textbook anime right there |

Exact/literal translation: Inuzuka: Hey! You're okay with this?! (referring to how Haruto avoided the confession) Haruto: Well... I don't have any other alternative, do I? Inuzuka: Why? Haruto: I've ended up being a monster like this... I don't have the right to convey any feelings anymore. Inuzuka: Kira Yamato... sorry, I mean Haruto... I haven't seen CR subs for this anime. But [gg]'s sub was pretty good, which translates "Toire" as Bleedin' the lizard (obviously, I don't need to explain that the word "toire" is derived from the english word "toilet"). If we didn't have fansubs, I swear you guys would have been shocked to find out how limited regular japanese vocabulary is, particularly in anime. Edit: forgot to add Inuzuka-senpai's last line. Edit2: Haruto's last line thanks to symbv. |

At least I expect to hear some explanation why such act is needed for power-up. I'm surprised ppl are confused about this, it was pretty clear to me. It wasn't so much “stabbing itself” (although it may have been intentionally designed to look that way); it was bathing the sword in the overheated generator. There's clearly something mysterious about that generator. Yeah I picked up on this awfully quick. This is what actually happened, but the motion is also definitely a harakiri visual metaphor at the same time. As I keep trying to explain though some people clearly aren't interested in watching this show with any sort of intent at grasping the not immediately obvious, they just want their "trainwreck". I've seen this happen with countless mecha shows before like Gundam 00 and Code Geass where the show actually will account for things and people will miss it cause they're in such a mad rush to pick out what they see as flaws to continue their "trainwreck" narrative. For some this is apparently the only way they can I guess enjoy these shows, which I guess is fine, I just don't know why they have to thread shit over it. Like keep it to /m where that sort of thing is largely embraced for all I care. |

you do understand that his whole reasoning for being able to kill people and to fight was for her revenge. He chose to give up his humanity for that single purpose and now that shes alive? He views himself as a monster and therefore doesnt want to bring the girl he loves into that world. He would rather her view him as a good friend than find out that hes a monster anyway I really like the characters but I think I like the other girl better (the black hair'd girl, I don't remember her name XD) |

FiveOVER said: Kaoriri said: symbv said: Just because she is alive does not automatically make this show bad. If people want to criticize the show, picking on her being alive just loos lazy and cheap. Much better if more attention is paid on how this twist is handled and executed and how effective the aftermath and its impact to the story and characters is developed. But of course that takes patience and effort to do, which I think many people don't have. It's inherently terrible writing regardless of execution. "hmm, how do we get the MC to pilot the mecha?" "derp let's kill of the main heroine for cheap shock and melodrama! but don't worry we can just totally bring her back in the next episode and create more cheap melodrama because MC is a spineless emo bitch, no one will see it coming!" I mean come on. Sigh, seems like trollers are running out ideas so they just throw "pussy mc", "trainwreck", "stupid writing" when i've seen that hundreds of times. Are you guys even trying? Let me give you a list of reasons why this writing is a masterpiece. - It gives the mc a reason to fight. Unless you want reasons like "those are the bad guys", "I want to be a hero", "I have to save my friends", "I'm just following orders", "my body got controlled by some mystical power" which I have no qualms with at all, but you haters just have to call them cheapskate and dismiss them as silly. Sothe motive as revenge is definitely a hit. - Second, it gives the discontinuity when the students cheer for haruto's victory, while haruto laments her death. This nails down the idea that no one but haruto can understand his grief. Remember, robbing tears from the audience is clearly not the author's motive. His motive is to show us the isolation of those different/ gifted compared to others. - Third, her death was entirely the reason why haruto underwent such a drasic change in just the span of two episods. He was a pacifist, he experienced the reality of war, agreed with l-elf and admitted his mistake. He then understands the gravity of the situation in war. He knows its killed or be killed and didn't hesitate to kill the soldiers. He even learned how precious shoko is to him and adamant to go back to her even in tha hopeless situation. - Fourth, her death brought the chance for saki to act and established a prelude to a love triangle. If she weren't "dead" , saki probably will never have the chance to act on her feelings. - fifth, it gives us a chance to see our mc in dilemma while he deal with his identity crisis and his feelings for shoko. Only when he realized that shoko is alive that the impact of losing his humanity hit him. This give arise to more character developement and again the author tells you this is not your typical happy story. - sixth, this is my favourite point. This is when the story truly establishes that its a dark story through and through. The viewers realize that haruto just lost his humanity for nothing. Shoko was alive all along and he is being thrown into this unreasonable situation just because he acted rashly in he heat of the situation. After reading all those points can you truly say this is bad writing? No, first you have to ask yourself. How good of a story can I write compared to this? Orsonius said: What can I say... crappy show. Lame OP Lame OST Lame Characters The only decent thing is this superpower thing and that MC isn't a pussy and actually kills his enemies. I'm not trying to make you upset. I'm just pointing out that your post is contradictory. You say the characters are lame but the main character is good? Awesome insight brah I really like the anime but that post just made me like it even more haha, 2nd best of the season next to SnK |

You know, thinking about it, that body swapping thing could be quite convenient in that Haruto could trade places with anyone in order to do pretty much anything. If he needed to know state secrets, just find the right person and......CHOMP. If he needed to know how to fly a Dorssian ship, find the pilot and......CHOMP. If he needed to change the tide of the war, just find the general or even the Dorssian leader (or is it fuhrer?) and.......CHOMP! This would make him an excellent weapon against the enemy, especially since his own body can't die. Though I do wonder, if he is killed in his "borrowed" body, would he actually die then? |

If you really want to fit in, just put Legend of the Galactic Heroes in your top 5 and have it be the only 10-rated anime in your list. |

Good episode, A lot happened. Nice to see shoko alive! But I don't like the way they executed her presences after she died... and wtf was with the ending? Saying he doesn't have feelings because he's a monster.. pretty cliche lol Good episode none the less! |

WOW. Thats one hell of weird episode. I would prefer Shoko dead and MC avenge her during the series. But you know whats Sunrise good at, making the soap opera and all that kind of things. I hope show gets better. 6\10 for now. |

Shih said: Where have I seen this "I'm no longer human" before... Right... It was in MADOKA. Watching this makes me think that he is pathetic, where as in Madoka, I get sympathy towards the character. Nice try Sunrise. Um... Madoka's hardly the first show to use the "I'm no longer human" card. But yeah, having Haruto not confess because he is not human anymore is pretty damn lame. |

Confessing is actually the easier path to take, and to do so would be really lame. But yeah, having Haruto not confess because he is not human anymore is pretty damn lame. Anyway, lest someone says I repeat the same thing too often, here is some of my input for opinions about this episode. I have nothing against the confession (which I think is a great character and story development) or even Shoko coming back alive so quickly (her survival is entirely possible), but some disappointments of how they show things in this episode. In ep.1 many get irritated by how long the MC keeps trying to get the mecha to move while ignoring the message on the screen. This dilutes the emotional power of the scene a lot. And some of the sequence took place too quickly to generate the emotional pull. I think in this episode, some of the executions I wish could have been done better are: - why L-11 would actually tell the MC about what he thinks about the design of the mecha to help him beat back the army on his side? - why tie L-11 in ropes when I suppose some more secure method is available? Even more jarring is to see he is still in ropes in the trailer of the next episode. Does it mean even the security forces lack a more secure means to keep him in custody? - right till the end L-11 was still holding Saki hostage, how come he seemed to just surrender after the mecha came back? - we did not really get to see how Saki cared so much about the MC that she even climbed to the cockpit to ask him to take her along. In the last episode we only saw she broadcast his name to the net but we never heard her speak or saw what she though. - there could be some scenes about how Shoko's classmates were overjoyed to see her alive and some more depiction about the ignorance about Shoko of what happened (their country surrendered etc). Without it, when she looked happy and talked about the MC piloting the mecha, she could look annoyingly out of touch. |

I like how it didn't take forever for them to realize it was the bite that allowed him to switch bodies. Sucks that what's her name isn't dead. |

For me this series is already legendary... in a twisted way. I can see the script writer's attempt to write an epic, sentimental and serious, then it turned out to be cliched and weird. This combined with decent mech actions make me burst out laughing so many times when watching this episode. I start to like it more and more. Also, the ending lyric describes the feelings of L-elf perfectly, it must be his theme song. |
