This episode kind of sucked looking at it by itself. I mean...it just flew. But if it's setting up an excellent dramatic ending, then that can make an episode like this better. But wow, talk about suck for becoming emperor. Why didn't he just do that in the first place.

His father abandoned him. He wanted revenge on him.

ALL HAIL LULU! ALL HAIL LULU! ALL HAIL LULU! ALL HAIL LULU!

Looks like Charles & Marianne were bitches and got whats coming.
So is Lelou still going to kill C.C. as part of the contract?

@dtshyk:
I think he meant that when Nunnaly was found before she became governor general.
Nunally aint coming back =( *sob

I dunno about this one.

I liked the first half of the episode, but once Lelouch talks to Jupiter it just gets a little too flaky for me to really enjoy. Then you have a month in time down the drain in which nothing has seemingly changed, except that Lelouch seems to have taken the Emperor's chair just to act exactly like the last emperor did.

Pretty lame, and I am afraid of where this might be headed...

That episode was like combination of Death Note and Evangelion. Very entertaining.
Now logically Lelouch would turn into power hungry emperor and eventually suffer a sorry death. ^^ Lets hope that doesnt happen.

Gotta side with Boony on this one. Little midget V.V. whips out a machine gun about half as big as himself and starts spraying bullets in his goofy little stance. I wouldn't say I laughed hysterically so much as thought it looked a little lame. No offense intended here either. Maybe I'm in the middle of both of your guys' positions.

Haha Lulu is like Kira and Schneizel is L. Lulu has become what he was fighting agenst... is he going to stop the hole other countrys have no rights stuff or will he get killed before he has a chance to change the world? I think he will have to kill C.C. so the geass is gone forever and then he will be imortal.(One reason he should kill C.C. to stay alive) But still not having C.C. around is a shame. oh well there are only 4 more episodes to go anyway unless they make a movie witch they might.

I highly doubt it'll be a Death Note ending. Lelouch got his revenge, Light never obtained the goal of being a "god". I'm thinking Lelouch has a plan up his sleeve though.

I had a headache after this episode. So much happened so fast. I have to agree though with posts earlier. What did happen in the month? Was everyone just idle and let everything go by? Also, how did Lelouch, Suzaku and C.C. escape that realm?

And what does Schneizel plan to do with giving Lelouch Britiannia?

He didn't give it to him. I doubt he even knew what Lelouch was gonna do. He just gave Lelouch the privilage of making the first move. That way, Schneizel pulled him out of the shadows. And my impression of Schneizel is this: he can crsh whomever he knows but he is not as mighty when someone unknown is involved.

Just make sure every episode has at least one Pizza Hut endorsement on the screen so we can earn that money!"
Exactly my thoughts. This is too BS.

I have noticed that the quality of animation has improved. I am convinced that episode 20 was just an exception and not a predictor the quality of future episodes to come.

I enjoyed how the series mercilessly reduced the importance of the emperor while at the same time using his character as plot device. While he was entertaining as a evil ruler of the world; his instantaneous removal seemed fitting to his personality and served a purpose to move along the plot. All men are not created equal -- what ironic words.

I also liked the final verbal showdown between Charles and Lelouch about truth and using lies. It was horribly cliched and the dialogue was laughable at times, but the series managed to pull it off with its brilliant execution, which only furthered my desire to watch how this well-crafted train wreck will turn out. The scene also managed to give enough final closure to the Charles character as well.

From the surface, it looks like Lelouch has improved his chances of surviving until the end of the series. However, I have a feeling that this is just false assurance. In my opinion, Lelouch will likely be dead at the end of the series. He will killed in a fashion most fitting for the atmosphere of this show; he will die as martyr. By whose hands? My guesses would be either the currently neglected CC or the crafty Schneizel.

Schneizel's all according to plan moments are starting to get repetitive. However, his possible involvement with Diethard may prove to be interesting.

Thank God that whole arc involving Ragnarok and the weapon is over. I personally found most of the story that took place is this arc to be ridiculous. However to a certain degree ridiculousness is seems to be one of the one of the key ingredients that keeps the series fresh and unpredictable, ironic as it may be.

But for the love of God, if Nunally comes back from the dead and starts twin geassing people; that would just be too much.

All I wanted when I watch Code Geass is for it to have a different ending than Death Note, ever since episode 1. What a great turn of events this turn out to be. Yet it's still to early to judge. I just hope it will.

I loved this episode; even though throughout the series I kept disliking Lulu's ideas, now he's finally making sense. And somehow, Lulu and Suzaku's allegiance seemed really natural to me, seeing as they couldn't fight each other anymore at this point.
ALL HAIL LELOUCH was awesome.
The whole 'Knight of Zero' idea was awesome.

What I didn't like though was how fast Lulu went past the truth about his mother. For 45 eps he's been trying to find out the true reason behind her death, then suddenly he sees she's evil and kills her. I know it had to be a pretty quick move, but it still passed too suddenly to be 'believable'.

Eh...I don't really see why C.C. would kill Lelouch at all, considering he's the only person right now who could grant her wish. I also don't see her as being neglected at all. While many people say her face at the end of the episode is that of "anger", I see it more as more of a neutral or emotionless face, or a thoughtful one.

We don't know what happened in the month. For Lelouch to be this confident about his position, a lot of preparation must have been made. C.C., I'm sure, also has her part to play. I've never seen C.C. once neglected this season.

This made no sense at all. I was thinking WTF the whole episode. If CC was not interested in the new world why would she enter the Ragnarok at all? WTF is a Sword of Ashash or whatever and why would it kill the gods? Who are the gods anyway?

Now Marianne has a geass too and was killed by VV because he was jealous of her relationship with Charles?
Also they mentioned that Schneizel worked with the black knights to help put down some rebellion but I don't remember that happening.

Is it me or is that 'To get rid of evil let's make humanity one' has been done before. I really wish they would ditch the Evangelion themes.

I really liked S1 much better, back then you only had Guren vs Lancelot and a couple of people with Geass. This last episode is just complex for the sake of complexity.

SAGE. You tried, but you failed. I know that you hate CG (and I hate it too, but one thing I hate the most is when people tried to put down a show, but fails bad.) - that's why you still continue to watch it and post all its flaws here - to let people know that CG sucks, I understand, I'm like that too. But your questions can still be answered.
asteron said:

She was, not until she met lulu. That's why when Charles tried to take her CODE and grant her wish - which is to die, she decided not to - she chose reality.
asteron said:

Humanity itself. Dude, they mentioned it in the episode...
asteron said:

They also mentioned this. VV didn't want Charles to change. To feel that people need each other. And he thinks that Marianne's going to be the cause of his change.

Lulu: ... >.<
Emprr: NOW I USE DTHSTAR RGNRK TO MAKE PRFCT WORLD. KTHX.
Lulu: UR DOIN IT WRONG.
Emprr: O RLY?
Enter C.C. & Spinzaku
Spinzaku: YA RLY.
Lulu: [Clever hand gestures to remove Geass-hiding Contact Lens]
Emprr: Hurhurhur. GTFO MY JUPITR LELOUCH. WAT U GOIN 2 GEASS? NO1 U CAN GEASS HERE. HURHURHUR. KTHX.
Lulu: O rly? I'm going to Geass the 'collective unconciousness'!
Rgnrk: Fo' show.
Emprr & Mrinne: O NOS.
C.C.: lol.
Spinzaku: [SPIN]

Oh, yeah, and Lelouch becomes emperor.

Not too sure I'm happy with this episode. It definitely seems things are getting rushed towards the end of the series, and Schneizel as last boss definitely seems very weird for a conclusion to the Code Geass lore. [Shrug]

If the name "Zero" was a long-term foreshadowing for the "Knight of Zero", I have to give the greatest possible praise to the director Taniguchi.

Dunno if anyone's mentioned it, but R2 actually is not what Taniguchi wanted it to be, so I doubt that the name Zero was some sort of foreshadowing.

I don't know if I really like this huge twist, it's just too much now imo :/

Haahahahaha, Yikes, talk about making things unnecessarily complex and turning everything upside down, it gave me a headache trying to comprehend everything! I wouldn’t say that Marianne and Charles are evil so much as misguided and a bit selfish, I never even considered Charles to be as evil was he appeared. Things seeemd slightly rushed though. I also thought that this could have been the ending to R2, and a third season to be approached. Hmmm, but I guess that is not the case, we still have alot to go. Still, as much as I love Code Geass...I was sadly dissapointed, it bothers me that this episode is like all the backstory and explanation we’re ever going to get despite much of the series building to this point. And *poof*, just like that, it’s over and Lelouch is now Emperor!

Personally, I also actually love Suzaku too. So seeing him defend Lelouch gave me butterflies, since I like that pair (non yaoi relationship,). By the way, I like Alexius's version of this episode, haha!

I'm finding the people who say this wasn't what Tamiguchi planned laughable. If you even pay half attention to the first ten episodes, they foreshadow all of this. The Emperor speaks to Clovis in like ep. 3 (they mention speaking to the dead in this ep.), the emperor mentions the Ragnarok Connection in ep.1, and early interviews mention how Geass is related to humanity. This was how he planned it, just he didnt plan the restart due to the time slot. They got detoured but seem on track with last eps. Seriously just watch the first five episodes and alot of this is foreshadowed. They didn't magically pull this out of their ass(well they did but over a year ago).

Just have to say it... ALL HAIL LELOUCH!! and Knight of Zero <3 Pure awesomeness.

As for all the complains about it being similar to EVA... It's been similar to alot of other shows be4, for example the whole first season i thought "this is a combination of Death Note and Gundam SEED, with humor" but just sat back and enjoyed the ride.

Also I do not find this episode hard to understand or reactions to be unrealistic.. Lelouch have been through alot so far and is committed to make full use of geass to acomplish his goal, he acted just the way I'd expect him to. If you don't think so I dunno what anime you've been watching the last 45 episodes, cuz all his actions so far feels completely in character. Atleast for me it does.

And lastly about the dreaded ending of the series, I do not see a DN like ending at all. I think the producers will go out with a bang, and give us an ending fitting for one of the best anime ever, so i have no worries about it at all. Though I do think Lelouch will probably die, and I got a feeling that Kallen will be somehow involved, one way or another.

[EDIT]

Please could any of you complaining about their reactions give a good example of a "realistic" reaction for Lelouch that also fits his character when he finds out his mother is alive. (If you couldn't tell, this issue is really nagging me cuz I find his reaction to be the most logical one)
