| I know this comment is probably not going to be seen by anyone, but I just wanted to say: That was the perfect goodbye. There is no need to cry that the Season had ended, it would be embarrassing when we met again. It doesn't matter when exactly that is, they can take as much time as they need, I am satisfied with knowing that the Journey to Ende continues. |
| 10/10. The manga is great but the anime took the adaptation to a different level. EVERYTHING was upgraded, and the music and voice acting were top tier all the way around. I am glad to see a manga that I love get this treatment. I haven't seen many adaptations with this level of care and dedication outside of Jojo probably (well and Bocchi). Now they finally setup the base for the best arc I have seen in recent shonen. Once el Dorado gets animated people will truly see the best this manga has to offer. Overall I am just grateful to everyone involved in this anime. Hopefully they make a blu ray compilation to us westerners. They deserve our support fully. |
| The anime ending on Himmel's message of "Tearful goodbyes aren't our style. It would be emparasing when we meet again" felt super weird in the context of Frieren: Expecting that there is always a next time sounds like the exact opposite to "treasure the encounters you have," which seemed to be one of the main themes of the anime. Frieren not having much attachment to people and happily saying goodbye to Himmel to meet him again in 50 years is what caused her to regret spending so little time with him in the first place. Being an elf, she is the kind of person who sometimes just vanished for a few decades because she experiences time differently, just expecting that you see each other again is a bit regressive. |

| Now Frieren is also over. Another good anime ends its first season. I have to say that I really liked Frieren overall. It brought a breath of fresh air to the fantasy genre with good characters, a nice story and great animation. I really enjoyed the first 17 episodes and I always found the little side quests the crew did very interesting. Unfortunately, I didn't like the Tournament arc as much because I'm not a big fan of these typical shonen arcs and so I wasn't too pleased on the direction the story took. The animation was still super good and the battles were very well designed, but I didn't really liked the story. It was to streched out for me. I had trouble sympathizing with the new characters because I miss Stark and Sein and liked them so much. Until the end I only really liked Denken and Wirbel. I didn't really care about the others. I also didn't find Series particularly exciting as a character. She said some very interesting things in the last two episodes that I really appreciated. But I'm also glad now that this arc is over and hopefully I'll get to see again in the second season what I had in the first episodes. Overall, I would give Frieren an 8/10 because the Anime often touched me a lot and made me think about life, but the fact that I didn't like the second arc of this season that much brought the rating down a bit for me. But I'm still looking forward to a second season. |
| Oh shit. Serie did the =w= face. Truly the most ancient =w= face to ever be expressed. Let's go! Both Denken and Übel passed. Wirbel (and even Methode) passing was quite the surprise tho, not gonna lie. Wirbel only had to let his inner edgelord take over and that was it. And the real Land wasn't even part of the tests to begin with lol. What a stunt, huh? My appreciation for his character sure increased a bit after such revelation. Beautiful finale to conclude an overall flawless anime adaptation. Fern's reward Spell being practically a "stain removal" one was both meaningful and funny and the episode even had time to explore the backstories of Denken and Wirbel, which I truly appreciated. Denken has easily become my favorite character of this second cour without a doubt. Such a shame he didn't join Frieren's group tho, since they are all practically going to the same place but well. But seriously, Madhouse did such an outstanding job with this show. Every aspect was handled with care: visuals were always top-level, OST was phenomenal and most importantly, every message regarding the story was delivered in perfect fashion. Truly a pleasant journey from beginning to end. And now, if I had to pinpoint any "complaints" of mine, I would say that everything prior to the First-Class Mage Exam Arc felt slightly more engaging and moving in my opinion. Personally speaking, I think an episodic formula fits this show better and though this last arc was still fantastic, I do think the preparation of the tests weren't given much thought and the lack of Stark during the show's last third (though understandable) still felt slightly disappointing. That said, those minimal aspects won't downplay the fact that this was an excellent experience through and through. 9,5/10 -> 9/10 - Really hope Madhouse announces a continuation soon. Will consider reading the manga in the meantime. |
| I liked how they saved the last episode for all the ones who passed. Although I wonder what made Mathode pass? Did Serie enjoy being called small and cute? I feel really sad for Denken now when he said he didn't have any children or grandchildren on top of losing his wife in his mid-20s. The way he treats Laufen is all the more bittersweet now, and be extension, Fern and Stark for tea time. Side note: I just found out that it's actually spelled "Laufen", in keeping with the borrowed German words. It suits her. Speaking of relaxing tea time...I blows my mind Glasses-kun never even left his freaking hometown, and was never actually there taking the exams in AuBerst in the first place! Now I feel the need to rewatch this whole arc with that fact in mind. The sheer audacity. Serie banning Frieren from the Association for 1000 years...the pettiness is hilarious. Although it's not at hilarious as the "Frieren face" when she handed Fern her requested legendary laundry spell. I'm curious what the other newly-minted 1st-class mages chose for their any spell they want. Off to resume their journey...I hope they do in fact, meet up all these characters again (hopefully not as enemies). I'm guessing they only need one 1st class mage in a group to proceed to a particular area...that would explain all the other characters traveling in groups to their next destination with at least one of the newly passed 1st class mages accompanying them. Now then...the obligatory "Season 2 when!?" That message at the "ende" better not be meant to give us false hope and want us to continue off reading the manga. No offense to the manga, but I enjoyed the anime by Madhouse immensely more. |

| Really loved this show, easily the best in the last 5 years with no real contest for me. Every character was also interesting and the world lore is simple but still interesting. This show had everything going for it and it nailed it. 10/10 Extra points for all the Serie feet shots we got 🤤 |

| I loved this series from the first moment, I enjoyed every single episode, it's a very rare gem, a long journey of high quality 28 episodes, I can't wait for the second season! I will miss Frieren-sama so much. |

| Very pleasant and well executed series. A delight really. I care much less about scores than most here so I don't lose sleep on whether it ends here on there on the rankings aorund these parts. Just enjoy for what it is. Well done Madhouse, a fine return to form. Looking forward to a second season. My only pet peeve is the character Series. How someone as incredibly childish and petty as her is in charge of the whole system is downright silly. Not making Frieren a first rank mage when she made all of those other mages that are not even on tenth of what Frieren is, is just...I don't know... I have no words for it. I thought it was just going to be Fern. Makes no sense. |

| Amazing episode. Amazing finale. Amazing show. Hard to believe its been half a year already. Going forward without looking forward to this every friday will be hard. It took me a while to really fall in love with this show and I cant even tell when it happened, but it did. Madhouse peaked (again). No season 2 announcement though :/ I will definitely pick up the manga now. 10/10 Ps: Laufen sticking to Denken like an adopted (grand)daughter is so adorable |
