They are already dead, why not use them to save other peoples lives?

at first they waited until the children die, but eventually they started taking them as soon as they were out of womb, not allowing iru to spend time with them until they die.

so that implies they killed them

I've read some of the manga but have been holding on to enjoy the anime adaptation You didn't need to spoiler but whatever.

Good episode. I was prepared but wasn't as crazy as everyone said. If you want to survive, you'll do anything.

This might be my favorite episode of the show, it was basically everything thats made this show special with the explorations matched with some legitimately disturbing body horror with an emotional crutch beneath it to stop it from feeling like an edge fest.

Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me

just you wait.... this Wednesday's ep will adapt the *infamous* chapter 51, widely regarded as the most intense & surreal chapter in the entire series thus far.

Also, this Iruburu Village arc (the existence of the village, not necessarily it's creation) is a send-up to Ursula LeGuin's 'The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas' short story. She is wildly popular over in Japan, and actually achieved more success there than in 'murica, so many JP authors & fantasists are heavily influenced by her works (obviously the Miyazaki/Ghibli connection/obsession with obtaining the rights to Earthsea has been well-documented)

I highly urge anyone who finds this season fascinating to check out that short story. I'm not a big LeGuin fan by any means, but she has her gems

In 7th episode, it was never told how they ate children. I am one hundred percent sure of that. It was just implied they ate them in the end of the episode.

spoiler is a piece of info related to major plot development that when revealed spoils entertainment of the story

this simple clarification isn't a spoiler

Woah, hardly any words can describe what I felt just now while watching this episode. It was in a league of it's own. Not many anime can be so bleak, freakish, cruel or simply fucked up without diving into edgy territory.

Most likely he was the first who eat those children.

It’s finally time for the Ganja Squad backstory, and oh god did it hit like a train.

Unlikely for them, nothing in the Abyss is nice to delver, not even simple water. What surprised me the most was the Wazukyan kept drinking it like he didn’t care at all for his well being. Maybe he knew, since he’s a prophet, that he was gonna survive anyways.

Irumyuui of course had to be the one suffering the most.
Imagine seeing your babies dies in front of you one after another.

Next episode, it’s gonna get even more fucked up.
Irumyuui’s smile must be protected at all costs.

just watched episode 8, the smile unfortunately does not get protected

This is probably the most messed up episode of Made in Abyss. Poor Irumyuui gave birth to multiple children that would end up dying in her arms just days after they were born. Even worse, they were later used as food....

What the fuck did I just watch? This… wow. Uh, I never thought anything would top Berserk in terms of being fucked up, but, without a doubt, this episode is probably the most fucked up thing I’ve ever seen.

I don’t think I’ll ever recover from this episode. Like, that was not what I needed to see at this point in my life. I feel like all the progress I made with overcoming my depression was just lost in the span of 23 minutes.
Exactly same situation here mate, this show is way more sad than the dark,i still having anxiety just by thinking about the poor kids, only if the chaeacters were teenagers rather than kids, this show could had been more okay to watch for me.

Yeah, but at least you got this far. Good job.
It's a good series, but it can be hard to face. It's crazy how many people don't appreciate how much rougher it is because Riko is a literal child. I mean, I'd proud of her if she was my daughter, but at the same time I'd never wish that upon my daughter.

Wow, not often does an anime leave one speechless. This episode hit hard and sharp. The question that remains is indeed what kind of entity takes your deepest wish and molds it into this disgustingly cruel yet blessful manner. Is it the devil? The bargain provided by this egg is at the very least on a demonic level of wickedness.
