| When I was new anime fans, I watched Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou (Season 3) without watching the prequel (Season 1 & Season 2) first. As for the others, I purposely watch anime (only season 2) for various reasons. |

| It never happened accidentally but I watched sequels of anime before watching the prequel by choice. What bothers me more is when I watch an episode thinking it's a new one and I realize 10 minutes later I already watched the episode. Thanks to MAL it rarely happens but sometimes it happens when I forget to update the episodes. |

| i don't know if this counts but, with higurashi: when they cry on netflix, i didn't know that the earlier version was actually more of a continuation rather than a remake of the old higurashi. And something else happened similar to that, it's with tonikaku market, i accidentally watched the movie before the series. |

| Not sure if this counts, but I watched Magi: Sinbad no Bouken (TV) before watching Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic. It's labeled as a prequel here on MAL despite being aired after the latter. It's also pretty much incomplete, leaving a huge story gap between these 2 shows. |

| Excluding shows like Pokémon, where it doesn't matter if you start with S1 or not, FLCL progressive before the OG. Then I figured I should probably watch the OG before alternative, so I did that. If anything, it reduced my enjoyement of the OG. This wasn't accidental, though... Yu-Gi-Oh! DM before Season 0, didn't know it existed. So, nothing huge. For manga though, I started Berserk half way through the prequel chapters. When I caught up, I figured I might have missed something, and went back to read the first few chapters. Might be one of the reasons I don't care about it; I didn't actually understand more than the surface level. |
| There's been a few times i watched the second season, thinking it was the first. Like with Gatchaman Crowds, i bought the dvd and know it was Insight, the sequel. So i added the first season to my mal until i caught the mistake. I forgot the name, but there was a series on Youtube i watched that wasn't marked properly and it was actually a sequel. Most of the time though, it's if i buy the dvd and don't pay attention. |

| lol, this happened to me pretty recently. i watch stuff on netflix when i can and i was getting caught up with teasing master takagi san, but i realized when i was over halfway thru that i was watching season 2 instead of season 1. luckily it doesn't matter with that show as much since it's pretty episodic, but i basically put it on hold until i watched all of season 1 before i continued with s2 on netflix. |

| I watched the whole 2nd Season of Bakuman. (because all seasons are listed as "Bakuman."). I thought it was pretty interesting how the show started at half the journey and didn't need to set up all of its characters, a bold choice I said because it worked for me and made me think the authors just had the most trust in their story to do it that way. It turns out I was watching the 2nd Season... And I would again, it's the best one imo. It helped me get through season 1 which had some moments I didn't like that much, the main romance isn't perfect to say the least. |
