- Online Streaming
My best option for certain anime series (usually older series) that doesn't have any reliable download links, and when I prefer not to significantly eat up the free spaces in my HDDs (mostly for series with more than 50 episodes).

- Download 480p (or even lower on extreme circumstances)
I used to do it 4-6 years ago when I still use my weak PC and when my internet connection was still totally horrible (384kbps and constant ISP-side problems). I might still do it today to get some older series.

- Download 720p
That's my main method today ever since my internet connection slowly gets better and better over the years and I already got a better PC. The balance between the filesize and video quality is good, and it also suits well for my 18.5' widescreen monitor.

- Download 1080p
I only do it to download some BD-rips that doesn't have 720p. After all, not every BD-rippers are willing to make both 720p and 1080p version for their rip.

However, in Gundam, all life begins with Nu and ends with Hi-Nu. While in KanColle, all life begins with Nu and ends with Kinu.

1) How do you know people won't rewatch it? Not to mention the usefulness of downloaded anime for clips, screenshots, gifs, and quick referencing.
2) Have you not seen the recent takedown efforts undergone by the Japanese government? There's no guarantee that stuff that's "all over the Internet" now will remain that way forever. Some shows, or at least certain versions of them, can become quite rare over time.

33% of what I have archived you will NOT find on the internet anymore. At least not easily. Raws from shows forgotten, old Funimation shows that nobody batched, shows that most people don't even know about. THAT is what I archive everything I'm interested in. I archive 720p though. I can't see the point of 1080p for standard TV shows.

I've always streamed. Even though I've seemingly always had comcast, I can stream good at high quality.
Also storage space is an issue, so buying more hardware to store anime is unnecessary.

720p if available. 480p if that's all they have. PC can't handle 1080p for some reason, which is weird because it could when I first bought the thing back in 2008. Hell, sometimes it skips frames in 720p now, and it used to never do that. I guess nothing lasts forever, unfortunately.

60mb 480 px :p, and only watch them once. The things I want to make into amvs generally get 720p.

Download 720p when it's airing , download 1080p if I liked the series enough and then just burn it to Blu-ray discs.

Visual Novels I usually store by franchises on Blu-Ray discs or DVD's if they are smaller.

I usually download 2 versions of the 1080p variants to compare quality for issues like artifacts, color inaccuracies etc.

Anime or hentai at in 720-640-480-320p.

I'm actually depending it on the size of the file vs the quality, I go for 45-100mb for anime and 15-50mb for hentai.

Currently, I stream because I have no more HDD space (sigh) and because it's easy for me to watch to and from uni or around the house. If I torrent I usually torrent 720p and I try and get an mp4 copy as well for my favourites to slip them onto my phone or tablet when travelling

I download 720p or 1080p. 1080p nowadays. I watch them then I delete them. I have a lot of anime I haven't seen yet but downloaded. A little archive there. But I delete them after I watch them all the time. I used to do archive. I have 7TB of HDD, almost full but I don't archive at all. Of course not all anime, a lot of movies, tv shows too. But never archive any of them. Not anymore. Oh I only store 10-20 movies that are my absolute favorites, nothing else. I even deleted Ano Hana and haven't regretted. My connection speed is only 8 mbps but I can still re-download them anytime I want rather quickly, so no need to complicate things. I can't archive even if I wanted to anyway. Not without 20TB+ space. Oh well, don't care one bit. I started streaming 480p-only anime nowadays, because the thing you'll download can't just be better than what you'll stream, not much at least. With HD that's not the case. So no need to download SD-only anime. Anime like original Dragon Ball, etc. Oh and I also started using public trackers for anime I want to quickly delete episodes of as I am watching. 'Cuz the wait time is too much for private trackers and I may need space immediately. So one must choose carefully. H&R timers are usually annoying but I get why trackers need them. You just need to adjust yourself. Sometimes it can take a few months before I start an anime I downloaded, so not always it is bad.

1080p and 720p: HTPC (home theater PC. 1080p is preferred, as little compression as possible)
480p or lower (will only DL this if it's the only option) - smartphone.

Stream: airing shows, and random short series I want to check right away.

I used to download off Animeaccess because my internet wasn't good enough to stream. I don't have a computer so I used a melange of Jailbroken ipad and Ipad camera adaptor (with micro SD cards) to save only the series that I would show to people to get them into anime (ie: code geass, Attack on Titan (not brilliant but great first), Fate/Zero). Deleted everything else I watched (with the one exception of Kyousougiga because it's a masterpiece). But then I found Kissanime and my life has become easier.

I usually stream in 480p.
Download my absolute favourites on SD card and USB (have an OTG cable to connect to phone). 720p for downloaded anime because 1080p takes up too much space (although I have Oregairu in 1080p cuz the best requires the best quality :D).
Best girl: Yukino Yukinoshita. Second best girl: Senjougahara Hitagi.

1080p when it's available.

Anything lower than 720p makes my eyes bleed, but sadly some older shows are hard (or even impossible) to find in higher quality.

There's no way someone who can't even protect himself can protect anyone else, is there?

I usually stream anime in 720HD most shows although in 480 dvd quality most don't need to be that high and I'm mostly online cause anime shows take up way too much space. Or if I do download them I take very few episodes at once.

If it's a BD-Rip 1080p. Normal subs either in 720p or 1080p depending on my mood. Since in fast subs the difference isn't that big.
