That slap twelve times! LOL@his excuse. Intense conflict between Azuma and Eijun. Can't wait for next episode

His character design and rebellious manner a bit reminded me of Goro from Major. Since sports anime rarely disappoint, this show seems promising.

I personally love sports anime. Prince of Tennis and Kuroko no Basket have been my favourites so far ^^ although I know there are tons more :)
This episode was decent, I liked the OP and Eijun's spirit. Can't wait to see how the anime unfolds ^^ ~it looks like a fun anime :"D

I was hoping for more of a Big Wind-up or Cross Game feeling to the series. Guess not. But a shounen sports once in a while isn't too bad I suppose. Unfortunately, I doubt it will have the action that Kuroko will provide me this season.

So far it's off to a decent start. I can't say that I love it, but I do like that the main character values his teammates. The random dramatization of his lines make me laugh and facepalm at the same time. The series reminds me of Major.

This is the second baseball anime I've watched, which might make me biased while rating this show. Cross Game is the best sports anime I've ever watched and I doubt this show will even come close to being as great. However, I enjoyed the first episode and I can't wait to see the next!

My first baseball anime. Never had an excuse to go out of my way and watch one since I'm not into sport anime much.

This wasn't bad. It just dove straight into all things baseball related though.

So many people here saying this is their first baseball anime. Judging only from the first episode, it probably wasn't the best choice. In term of general tone, it is close to Major, but didn't have the same energy. It's not a bad episode, far from that, but it's not on par with the start of my favourites baseball anime. But the manga got a lot of praise, so I hope it will pick up soon.

Isayama Hajime should be awarded The Manga with The Highest Inconsistencies of Characters' Appearances.
He keeps performing multiple plastic surgeries on those Shingeki No Kyojin characters in a SINGLE chapter.
Yes, I've read up to the latest chapter of Shingeki No Kyojin manga.
Forced myself to read through the kidsketching chapters after the anime's ended. At least from now on, I only have to go through the hell once a month.
Patiently awaiting SNK TV/movie/OVA anime-sequel.
The 2015 SNK live-action movie would probably suck.

i dont know.. it was nice but yeah as some said a bit boring? i wish they could have showed at least one or two pitches. miyuki was a fun character, though. i guess sawamura will ditch his old team mates and switch to seidou for whatever reasons there will be D: such a pity, but the girl classmate will remain?

anyway i ll keep an eye on this show~

The baseball spirit is strong with this one :). A lot of sports shows this season there's even a bicycle anime, it was a good start i love the main character the animation is good even if we didn't see any baseball matches i expect nothing less from I.G and madhouse. I hate how people compere it to other baseball anime just from the first episode i see a lot of people saying that this show isn't as good as that other baseball show just by seeing one episode that's not fair for the show, a lot of people see Ace of Diamond as a new Major not as a new baseball show the people who see it like that will feel disappointed if the show is not good as Major or any other classic baseball show.

I'm so happy that it got a anime, i had readed the manga a bit (but i dont know at which chap i left of anymore, so i'll just start reading it from the beginning again xD)
I'm sure that it will have a different feeling to it than Major and Big windup. Nevertheless, its the anime that im the most happy about this season and Eijuns VA fits good, as energetic like he is.

Pretty good.

Some funny parts esp Eijun's family and the meeting when they started doubting her saying she's talking BS XD And when he was laughing at Azuma hahaha.

Has potential. And the ep ended with a pretty cruel cliffy esp with the monologue he had there hehe.

Eijun is pretty cool and funny so I'm looking forward to see what he does nxt. Seeing how nxt ep is called partner...:D

Awesome. This is the kind of Spokon that I love.

The MC is hilarious and has so much potential. The concept might be not original but always of great impact. Nice OP and OST.

I'm expecting great things from this. Also, Madhouse x I.G Production.
I think it's guaranteed.

Watched this today after KnB and I have to say, better than KnB with regards to the first episode of either anime.

Are you honestly saying this, despite having Clannad and Code Geass in your favorites? Or do you find the art in those two disappointing as well?

It was ok but really cliche. Does every sports anime's first episode have to end with the main character in a one on one challenge to prove his brilliance?

I'll keep watching it because I love sports anime and it's better than Kuroko's Basketball so far but unless it gets way better fast,I expect this to end in the 6-7/10 range for me.

Not only Hajime no Ippo and Kuroko no Basket (sports) this season for me now,

Ace of Diamand really caught me of guard and I really love the upbeat vibe of it. I find it really cool how they have a female on their team and how passionate the main character and his friends are. This is going to be a surprisingly fun-bonus watch for me as this is my first dive into the series (unlike Ippo/Kuroko), and surprisingly, my first baseball anime too! (Never read manga either).

When Eijun said that "it's more fun to play baseball than watching on tv" i gotta give respect to the guy a lot of people now a days pretend to know everything about baseball without touching a bat or a ball in there life.

Nice first episode! The art style is just up my alley. I'm not much of a sports anime fan, but I think I will like this one.

Someone mentioned that the MC looks like Eren from SnK, yeah I thought so as well.

Man especially after Free last season that felt so right by sports anime. Really good start and I can easily see it keeping up with the strong cast, and great overall production in general. Too bad it's probably destined to fly under the radar this season.

The art is as good as the manga's, or I'd say it's even better. That's exactly what I was hoping for.

Liked the episode, the comedy was pretty well-done. Sometimes such comedy can be really fucked up if it got in the wrong hands, but the staff did a pretty good job on it.

Nice. This sports anime is full of guts... and also an older style animation. I like it. My first baseball anime too!

The main character is a hothead, but not the annoying type, I love how he made fun of everybody that doesn't have respect for baseball.

Such a way to end the episode, it should have ended having him pitch at least! Will wait for more episodes.

Love it already, as good as expected with Madhouse adapting a highly praised sports manga(had a Chihayafuru-ish atmosphere, maybe just because Eijun sucks at school)

Eijun reminded me of Xin from Kingdom more than Eren. He's definitely going to be a fun MC.

I have never played a game of baseball in my life despite being raised in the US but it seems like this game is a big deal over in Japan, never heard of recruits coming over to middle schools to recruit for a high school.

I laughed at that belly bump the huge batter dude gave the MC, he just got told he was fat so he comes over and slams the guy with his belly further proving the point. I mean of all the things he could have done he chooses that. Wisely though Eijin doesn't retaliate cause that guy is twice his size.

Seems like Eijin is going to have to choose between his friends and their promises to go to nationals together or the school that can practically carry him there. I haven't read the manga so will be interesting to see what he chooses, more interesting if he goes with this new school in my opinion cause that would surely cause some drama, though I doubt he will do that.

Man lot's of people comparing Dia no Ace w/ popular baseball titles like Major, One Outs and Cross Game. This isn't entirely fair for the series as a whole since it guarantees a lot of biased views that do not judge the series on it's own merits but compare it to other series w/c have different strengths and unique flavors of their own.

Let me put a disclaimer then. Dia no Ace isn't remotely like One Outs or Major. For one it isn't psychological. Nor does the story revolve on the main character most of the time. It's more of a team based series and each of the team members have their moments. Seidou is a powerhouse team and not some underdog trying to one up other top schools. They need to deal w/ a different kind of pressure. Namely that of the overwhelming expectations placed on them by the school management and the general public. Sawamura doesn't contribute much at the start of the series. He trains to improve his weaknesses but he doesn't turn into a powerhouse overnight. Some might be turned off by this and complain that the MC isn't BA enough. But it's more of seeing the entire team develop from the members point of view rather than the story focusing on the MC alone. If you don't like these aspects then I wouldn't recommend trying to watch Dia no Ace and then complaining afterwards.
