The hero's party is so full of themselves, I can't wait to see them all struggle against the Tempest combatants they happen to face-off against.

Rimuru welcoming is long-time allies shows how much of a family they've all been. Well, except for Blumund's king since it was always Fuze that Rimuru talked to. But youm finally made an honest woman out of mjurran lol

This was a bit of a slower one in the first half when Rimuru was talking to leaders of other countries, but it was nice seeing some familiar faces again, especially Youm and Myulan, Youm is eating astronomically good with a babe like Myulan by his side, I miss her involvement in the story even if it started out very rough. The episode picked up a bit for me tho when Rimuru went to invite Yuki, the students and Tiss Sensei to the festival, I know Yuki is secretly a villain but I can’t help but like the guy, and of course it’s nice seeing the kids again, Rimuru over here being the cool uncle by giving them a free pass for stalls and events lol.

I also liked the short bit with Kagali as well, not sure if she’s telling the truth about spelunking in ancient ruins but that is very cool if so, and just like Yuki I can’t help but like her too, and Rimuru just gave her access to Clayman’s ruins huh, something interesting might come of this lol. And the last bit with Masayuki and his party was goofy, poor lad could barely get a word in before his party gets him signed up for a tournament, but now this tournament is looking a lot more interesting thanks to this development, I’m excited to see if he can take on Rimuru’s subordinates, but I will be pretty disappointed if he’s just a meme like everyone else has been and isn’t able to touch even Shion.

dooooood....Masayuki's "minions" need to be taken down a peg or near death preferably.....
I hope there's some way to get around Masayuki's unique skill that "buffs them" or however it works....cuz they were just plain RUDE and they need a couple of slaps to knock that stuck-up attitude out.

I was getting so mad on Rimuru's behalf I was actually screaming at the screen for someone to slap em.

All the dignitaries from fellow nations have arrived just before the festival starts to greet Rimuru. Some audiences with a few kings who we've seen before. The Blumund king keeping his and Rimuru deal in tact and Dwargo getting upset at Rimuru bringing him into the peace talks with the western church. Both informative but fun moments with Rimuru interacting with other world leaders. Youm coming back for the festival is awesome, following all the craziness of last season and earlier this season its nice to see Youm under peaceful circumstances. Myulan being his queen is so wholesome to see, they do balance each other out well. Grucius as their head of knights is a great touch. Three people we've seen in tough situations throughout this story who have all found their place in the world, very nice seeing them all again. They even have the previous King's son Edgar acting as their attendant. Speaking of seeing people again we got the students again! I loved seeing all those kids and their teacher. Rimuru has been so busy he couldn't come see them sooner but now they'll get tons of fun at the festival. Yuki sticking around keeping his dastardly eye on things per usual. Playing the nice guy to Rimuru so he trusts him. Including defusing the situation with Masayuki party outside the city. Lets just say those party members that Masayuki has are quite Gung-ho all the time. Ready to go at a moment's notice to defend Masayuki even if nothing has happened. That chosen one skill has some wonky side effects. Including them in the martial arts tournament should make it even more fun!

Despite more meetings and whatnot I actually enjoyed this episode primarily because we got to see some characters that we haven't seen in a while such as Rimuru's students. Chloe, whom I've always thought looked like lil' Shizu, was as adorable and sweet as ever and even told Rimuru that she and the group would buy him a present from the upcoming festival. It was nice that everyone was invited, even their current teacher, although I didn't care that Yuuki was as that's someone that can't be trusted with his plotting.

Btw, with the title of the next episode being called "Festival Eve" I think that implies that the actual festival may not start until the episode after next, jeez lol.

Still wondering when and why did the enjoyable slime became this boring pos talkshow... and spare me the "world building" bs because that could also be managed in a more ejoyable way.
The animation is lacking as well - ah right there is not much to animate except opening mouths.
Don't want to offend anyone, I'm also still watching this hoping it could turn back to a good show but with every new episode I'm just loosing hope.
@Shaiko66 If you think the second cour is bad, I don't know how you got past the first cour, because that was genuinely unbearable. It also brought out hilariously bad takes from the people defending it.

Anyway, maybe it's because my expectations were rock bottom due to the first cour, but I've been enjoying every episode of the second cour. Even this episode wasn't bad, maybe a bit boring in terms of content but it had good pacing. Good to see some familiar faces.

If there's any LN reader then I'd like to ask did the children invite Tiss Sensei to the festival as well because in Manga that sure didn't happen. I'm still confused about that part.

The manga does a few things differently. For example, in the manga Rimuru meets Kagali the first time when he meets Yuuki for the first time.

Oh lordy, Masayuki's simps are super annoying~

Clayman was annoying too, but at least he had all that power to back it up as a demon lord. Meanwhile those three simps, I don't think they could even beat lone Gobta 3-on-1.

It's always cringey when Yuuki is acting chummy with Rimuru like that 😅

It would be interesting to know that Masayuki's fate-twisting auto-hero's luck might just be easily countered by Shion's passive skill since it can re-twist any twist instantaneously according to what she wants to happen in any point she wants to. Looking forward to how those two passive attributes/skills will interact.

Lmao can't wait to see Masayuki and his party getting cooked by Rimuru. But Masayuki has an interesting ability which could make him an OP protagonist of his own generic isekai. I wonder if he has any chance against Rimuru.

Rimuru's students are back. It’s kinda fun seeing them again after so long.

I really dislike the time Rimuru spends with the kids.
Weakest arc in the entire series in the past. No difference now, either.

They were always a forced insert to humanize... Well, a human.
To a very poor extent.

Hinata was fine, sure. Even schemer Yuuki isn't much of any issue.
However, the actual children are and will continue to be a massive stall to the series. That should have been caught in editing by now.

Running around the festival with Milim and any other demon lord.
Instead of dedicating any on screen time to them.

Would have been much more appropriate.

Since the author has always been involved in his works adaptations.
I was always hoping that they would pivot that aspect of the series.

Instead of leaving, and turning it into minutes of runtime. What feels in print like a couple seconds. As that is the deviation between 10 pages and 10 minutes++. Between mediums.

hmm... Rimuru talking with the Dwarf king about "Human supremacist" and Hinata's going to "get rid" of them...

But then we literally just saw in episode 17's end where majority of humans are praising the Hero to go kill Rimuru... as Humans are the "good" while the Demon lords (and their followers) are the "bad"...

This is in a way "racists" and thus "Human supremacist".... so... are we going to go kill off majority of Humans that are against Demons and demi-races? hmm...

.

Meanwhile... Rimuru's still oblivious toward Yuuki and chatting up with him like they're best buddies...

But I guess Rimuru can't really touch Yuuki, since at this point... Yuuki pretty much controls most of the things that happens in this Isekai World... including having nearly 100% control of all Adventurers (including the "Hero").

.

And we got the cute little kids again.

.

And then... we got carts full of sexy Elves arriving with the "hero".

With the hero's followers doing the actual YAPPING, to try and cause a fight.

I wonder if Rimuru's "Raphael" have any way to counter "Chosen One", especially what with both "voice" seems to come from the same source... IE: "Voice of the World" (which Rimuru failed to obtain and got Raphael instead)

You know, knowing what we already know about Yuuki behind the scenes his interactions with Rimuru are quite tainted now. He could be lying at any point and acting like a good boy preparing for his time to strike but regardless, the festival and the tournament are fast approaching. Gotta hand it the Masayuki's companions for making his interactions that much more interesting and signing up for a challenge, again, without doing anything.

It feels really uncomfortable to see Yuuki around Rimuru, seeing what Rimuru is doing and maybe his plans... when we know that Yuuki is evil. I hope Rimuru hasn't gotten rid of all his suspicions of Yuuki.

On the other hand, I know I should be used to this and it's already the third season but for some reason I still get annoyed seeing people underestimating Rimuru lol. It might be really fun and funny if Diablo was there to hear that xD

Anyways, I'm glad that those kids are joining the festivities!! They are so adorable.

YOU KNOW WHAT? FUCK ALL THE OTHER GIRLS, RIMURU SHOULD MARRY TISS.
Crazy how she is so cute and a really beloved character for Rimuru and the kids when she doesn't even exist in the novel lol

I really think the Masayuki plot came to save this 2nd half of the season, his party is really funny, I hope Milim also enters the tournament or something like that so she can face off him and beat the shit out of him since he is a "hero", that would be so fkng funny.

The kids return too! They appear in every opening, yet just now we finally see them again, this fanchise may have the most clickbait openings of them all, like when we saw Rimuru fighting Hinata in the very 1st opening, when se wasn't even introduced yet lol

Yuuki is supposed to be a bad guy, but at the same time he is such a bro to Rimuru, he really does a well job at manipulating and pretending, I hope someday we can see Rimuru facing off him.

@Shaiko66 As a LN reader I guarantee you that Tensura is pretty much the same since the beginning and I agree some eps could be managed to be easier to digest. In Tensura the action is merely consequence of the events and not the other way around.

I’m not expert on animation, however this season doesn’t require a high budget animation. At least characters design and scenes are consistent and they aren’t melting.

About the story, Tensura is known for having heavy dialogues and explanations so expect more over time. Personally I think there’s nothing boring about the story, everything catches my attention and interest.

I think that another Rimuru's meeting with Yuki couldn't have been done worse. By two seasons they show us how evil character behind the scenes is Yuki and now they've done it as if nothing had happened. That soundtrack, dialogues, interactions between them in the episode 18 was so bad, looked more like tea party with kids... It hurted my eyes and ears.

A friend of mine keeps me in touch of what comes ever since I'm fed up 5 episodes before, just to keep up my interest. We aren't even experts on animation, but both of us getting the feeling that this is an disaster, but on the script-writer and director levels. They could have skipped the third of the first half's meetings because the same thing went over and over again, talked about the same thing thrice... THRICE with little to add to it. That could have been clamped down, to keep it tighter as the former season had that.

In writing and editing there's a fine line between build-up and temporization and the 3rd season just falls under the latter without keeping up the interest. While in novel you always have the next chapter until a conclusive point that could spark the interest enough for the next half a year until the next volume comes out, but in 24 minutes animation weekly, you have to keep it up or your watchers are dispersing away and the rating plummets. It is that simple and doesn't require any expertize, just experience and a keen eye on how other shows deliver.

As for the 3rd season, I fear, with this tempo they won't deliver the high end as that should come, because what comes, it sparks another bigger chains of event that's first half should have been the end of this, but so far it will end with the spark coming and keeping the audience in limbo until the next season coming who knows when.

Tempest is finally open to visitors for the festival, and Rimuru tending to high-profile visitors like King Blumund and King Gazel (in his tuxedo of all clothings) to fill in what has happened thus far. Even to Youm who has become a king in the newly established reform of Falmuth as Flamenace, with Mjurran joining has his legal wife, things back at home seem fine for the group, with Edmaris's son Edgar joining for the ride. In fact, Youm being king means that Rimuru can just let go of the repatriations, since they're already so related to one another. Even his visit to Yuuki in Engrassia to grief about Hinata, the former's attendant of Kagali is a new face to him, being someone interested in the archaeology of the ruins, exploring and selling goods as her pay.

Next, are the students that Rimuru once taught, and they've grown quite a fair bit alongside Tiss, to be invited to Tempest for the festival. But the expected one is the hero Masayuki and his party, though his party wants to bring trouble, Yuuki standing for Rimuru to make peace to all despite being a Demon Lord, they just want to prove that they can defeat him, so why not participate in the festival and make the truth be known in a tournament fight? Despite Masayuki's whims, the proposal is accepted, and whatever happens, will happen.

Getting to the good stuff now...

These meetings with Rimuru always serve to remind me how huge the world of Slime is. Yet Rimuru is always leaving people pleased or shocked by the capabilities of one slime. It's good to see Rimuru's students again, and Yuki's friendly disposition sure makes it easy to forget how much of a schemer he is.

Youm has become the king of Falmenace and his reputation has grown tremendously. The kids along with their new teacher are coming to the festival as well.

And lastly we got the Lightspeed Hero with his party that really loves to glaze the shit out of this dude, and he barely speaks in this interaction.

Holy crap, in the 80's even Mr. Rodgers was more titillating than this deluge of words words words. about 10 minutes in I just skipped to the next episode. -1/10. Absolute trash. There's a few good episodes in this season but the rest is expository word salad that would be better done if the writer hadn't fell on his head as a baby.

I'm the only one who thinks this Masayuki character is problematically crazy! Because he's actually changing our perception of reality, and everyone worships him for nothing. I really think that's going to be problematic after a while.

Let's talk about the rhythm of this season
Half of the people commenting here are people who watch the episode when it comes out each week. For them/you, it must be unbearable to have an episode every week that tells a piece of the story, and it turns out it's world-building.
I'm currently watching this season and there's still one episode to go at the time of writing.
I think everything is perfect so far, the anime is slow, but frankly, I'd rather it be slow and explain and build as it goes along everything it needs to swing the festival than just make an episode that introduces you to the arena, the dungeon and the whole festival in one episode, that would be undrinkable and make no sense.

I find it extremely sad when people put comments like, “it's really crap this season” because the pace is slow. I assure you that if you'd given the season a little more time, and a few more episodes, before watching it, it would be much more gratifying. From my point of view, we've reached a level in the story where we're forced to do some world-building in order to be able to tell something coherent, because the character himself is far too important in the story to just throw in such a huge event without explanation.

That's all I had to say, it's great that we're taking 4 - 5 episodes to explain “why the festival”, instead of just throwing it out in 2 episodes!
