In some series I am like that. I just think when the ecchi >>>>>>>> is towards the story it sucks shit. Whereas some series the ecchi makes it better. No this one TBH.

For me the monogatari series is more about the characters and the situations they get in. There is a story but that story is mainly all about the characters and makes good use of these characters for some brilliant dialogue.

There is slight fanservice here and there but it's no where near as bad as some other shows do it. It doesn't push it in your face or follow the usual cliches, often making fun of them.

For example when Mayoi screamed PERVERT and hit him that was a classic cliche we see like a million fucking times in anime but here they used it in turn for a hilarious joke.

The first series had fanservice and so will this one, it's here to stay but also importantly the character's and their witty dialogue will also stay, so there's nothing to cry over!

With common sense, a valid conclusion is that he can see vaguely but just the silhouette explaining why he's telling Hachikuji to raise her skirt.
