since the manga is a short-page format, how far already the anime adapting from the manga chapter? I feel like the anime progressing real quick which is good. this episode show much clearer expression to me for misaki and neji. got the different vibe back then when I read this part, feel like they are both assigned to each other, but look like it is the opposite after watching this ep, misaki seems to know about neji. #TeamLilina |

that's another interesting episode, the characters are so different from each other that it makes it interesting to watch it. I especially appreciate how Takasaki is different from the standard female main characters of anime. I'm unsure about the kiss between Nisaka and Nejima. It looks like Nisaka and Takasaki may be assigned to each other, and then the kiss... does he like Takasaki to the point he wanted to know what it felt kissing her kissing the boy who actually did? Or does he simply like his friend? (And that's why he and Takasaki don't get along) Lilina is actually the "weirdest" of them all, but in a good way. I am looking forward the next episode, I am just SO curious. taynis said: I KNEW IT! Now this is interesting...since for a homosexual this system is even more complicated. And I'm actually feeling really really sorry for him. Because in a "normal" setting, if the boy he likes doesn't like him back, oh well, he could find another one. But, in this setting he is not allowed to do so, he HAS to marry a girl. I thought the very same, on one hand I hope they'll deal with this aspect in the anime. |

Cannot believe they adapted 4.5 here so early. I would have thought they would let things simmer before they made that reveal. Also, it's because of 4.5 that you can understand Lilina and Misaki's animosity when they see Nisaka, these girls can smell a rival from a mile away. Women's intuition and all that XD |

that what I call forced drama if anything i was expecting yuri not yaoi I knew that he gonna make some plot twist but i didn't expect him to be gay or whatever he is and is he really gay because after watching the ep i felt like he is asexual and felt in love with him because of his personality only and tried to see if he gonna feel shit ir he kiss him nut didm't feel anything so i am right or the way that scene was adapted was shit and please tell me that it will not become some love square because that will be shit and does the black haired girl know that the friend of her lover love her lover i have some shitty kuzu no honkai vibes hanabi is that stupid mc her lesbian friend is the the gay ( or whatever his sexuality is) dude mugi is the lilina the music teacher is takamaki and stop feeling sort for that faggot feel sorry for the girl that will be paired with him unless he is asexual is the purple haired girl showed in the op his chosen wife . worst ep 3/5 i feel like iwrote shit |

I fucking called it. This is the SAME SHIT that happened in Kuzu no Honkai except it was shoujo ai and not shonen ai. I knew there was something fishy when Takasaki and Nisaka kept glaring at each other. And then when Nisaka was alone with Nejima I thought 'no...what if they're glaring because they KNOW they both like him..oh god please don't do this to me again PLEASE'. 8') THIS IS FINE... Well great. Now my heart hurts and I feel so terrible that I can no longer support the canon couple because of the precious gay baby. The look of pain on his face was so upsetting. |

Nisaka looked so sad after the kiss ;__; broke my heart Throughout this episode I totally thought that Nisaka and Takasaki got assigned to marry each other and that's why they were giving each other the stank eye LOL. But maybe they just both know they like the same person?? Also, Riri was cute as always c: Tbh I just want her to find happiness at the end of all this. |

Didn't expect the gay love from Nisaki, and so it seems that this anime also has harem vibes. But I'm very very curious of how the series continue. Still hoping that Neji gets Takasaki. |

It's clear they don't like each other tho they seems somewhat hostile towards each other. Nisaka liking Yukari also seems like an interesting development which makes me wonder how this anime will turn out when it ends. I was thinking the same thing. I'm excited to see what happens next |

I'm not sure if anyone's discussed this, but I'd like to say some of my thoughts. Since it regards the very end of this episode, expect spoilers :P (I'll put it under the bar anyways) Also I haven't read the manga, so all of this is based off of what I feel and saw in the anime so far. The scene right before the credits kind of popped out for me. (It's around 22 minutes in if you'd like to go see yourself.) Nejima thinks to himself, "The person I was back then... probably tried to see a lot of things. Romantic love, other kinds of love, and lies." For romantic love, it shows Nisaka, which makes sense since he holds romantic feelings towards Nejima. However, Nejima doesn't know this, only the viewers do, but lets put that aside for now. For other kinds of love, it shows Lilina. Again, this makes sense, since Lilina doesn't have any romantic feelings for Nejima (at least not yet), however they are set to be married. The "other kinds of love" could be referring to forced love, or something along those lines. But for lies, it shows Takasaki, which doesn't make sense at all. From what the anime has shown us so far, Takasaki holds strong romantic feelings for Nejima, so why would they show her for "lies"? Or... does she actually love Nejima? Maybe she has been lying to Nejima this whole time, and doesn't actually love him. Maybe she has some other reason we don't know about that is making her act the way she is. Although, the "lies" could be referring to her and Nejima having to lie about their feelings towards each other, since it's taboo to be romantically involved with anyone other than the person you are assigned to. However, like I said before, Nejima doesn't know that Nisaka has romantic feelings for him, so the order of which the characters are shown could be total coincidence. Especially if we see what Nejima's saying and what is being shown to us from his perspective. Then again, I could just be over thinking all of this, but in my opinion, I don't think it was just a coincidence. There must be a meaning as to why they show the characters they do for each thing Nejima says. If anyone else has some thoughts to add about this, then please tell! I'd love to see if anyone agrees with me, or just thinks I'm crazy :P |

The pace of the anime and the direction it's heading makes me reconsider some of the thoughts I held going through the manga (mind you, I dropped the manga pretty early on)...and I may keep on watching how the anime presents the story. I can already see a difference in the way certain situations are executed, and so far it is at least in my opinion more effective than the manga. Especially the ending scene, which I'm going to expand on later. DemonRaptor said: Nejima thinks to himself, "The person I was back then... probably tried to see a lot of things. I'd love to see if anyone agrees with me, or just thinks I'm crazy :P I think its interesting how you bring up this scene, and find it interesting how specific people were shown as he explained the types of love he tried to see. I think it's interesting and worth exploring because first of all the title of the series is "Koi to Uso" or "Love and Lies" and I think there needs to be an established definition of what this series is trying to define as love. The problem is, this series is trying to convey that there is no one definition. There are, of course, many forms of love that will be explored in this series and labeling it does seem kind of odd to me. I think the point of the series trying to label the feelings certain characters have with the MC is to demonstrate the irrationality of trying to label them in the first place. As you say, however, Nisaka without a doubt holds romantic feelings towards Nejima yet I would argue that Takasaki claims to have these feelings towards him too. Lilina, for now at least, does not hold these romantic feelings but could potentially as she gets to know our main character more. This is why I think she shows up in the category "other kinds of love" where she wishes for his happiness by supporting him in his choices. I think that as Lilina supports Nejima and Takasaki she may start to deny her own feelings and prioritize his happiness over her own desires which I can actually imagine both female leads doing. Lilina's 'forbidden love' could be that she forbids herself from interfering a love that she believes was meant to be or is fated. Takaskai's "forbidden love" is that she loves him despite him being in a legal obligation to marry his arranged wife. Nisaka's forbidden love is self-explanatory. Nisaka is definitely similar in the way he hides these feelings like Lilina, and ultimately wishes for his happiness...but the fact that he kissed him in this episode shows me that he is not happy with the fact Nejima chooses to love Takasaki. He disapproves of their relationship, and at least that he wishes he could pursue his own feelings, which is why Takasaki holds resentment towards him. In other words when Nejima is with either girl, Nisaka is hurt and will suffer from not being able to convey his feelings...yet he secretly resents them...but he is probably terrified of the response and consequences of confessing so he will stay silent for the most part. The common thread between all three of their love is that they are lying to themselves. What will distinguish the true 'lie' in love, though, to me means that Nejima looks back on this time and realizes that it was even hard for him to distinguish love from lies. I would include my thoughts that would still be relevant after reading part of the manga, but I'm not going to spoil you. What I will say is that you suspecting Takasaki as the lie is an interesting take that I think may be expanded on further on in the series. She was supposed to be the original love, so why could she be the 'lie'? One aspect of love that has not been explored yet at least in this series is that love is not stagnant, it is dynamic. He held onto these feelings for so long, yet in the way their world works he never dated her or even got to know her that well. I can predict that as this series goes on, he will most definitely question his 'love' for Takasaki and she may be the lie, the idea and image of someone he loves so much which was an illusion after he begins to understand what love really is. Btw all these closing thoughts are my own and are not spoilers in any way. I think it's very likely that Takasaki may be the lie since I predict there being a lot of 'one-sided' loves and for Takaski and Nejima to mutually love one another until the end is...questionable. It could happen though, you never know. |

It would be great if the anime tackled subjects such as homosexuality in a society like this, however i don't see that being the case. If anything this looks more like is building up to be a sh*ty harem story filled with a lot of forced drama and a mc that acts waaay to much like a comple wimp. |

okay first of all I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT! I also thought he was gonna be all over Misaki, turns out he's a gay guy, which is definitely an interesting twist, will be interesting to see how all of this will play out. Anyways glad to see best couple kiss again, Ririna is cute as always as well. Looks like shirokami is finally appearing next ep, can't wait to see her role in the story. idk yet but it seems like I'll have to pick up the manga after the anime ends cuz this is really entertaining |

Unexpected in the way that they hid it well until the last minute, but cliché development. With such a poor story premise, the clichés are to be expected, considering it's a romantic anime. The art really saves the anime for me, and the secondary characters (Sanada and Nisaka) too. The MC is almost obnoxious and Takazaki has a plain personality. It seems so passive right now, hopefully the Nisaka development will cause some actual friction and not just "scary" eye contact. |

Okay You have to understand his situation before Getting into his character...Yes He didn't propose Takasaki for 5 years, But when he fall in love he was like 10-11 year old. It wasnt "Love" as a real "Love", I cant find the word, lets say he admired her or simply just liked her. Now take the setting of his world in to count, Nejima is a guy who knows Love is forbidden in his world..Yet he doesn't want to marry someone else without even telling his feelings to takasaki. That takes courage, He practically broke law at age of 16..Its a huge deal. About the kissing (BTW he did kissed her infront of Lilina in the manga)...well did you even read the situation at all?? I mean How can you kiss someone infront of Your arrange partner or anyone for that matter. ..Its also awkward at the same time and Nejima just kissed her only 1 time before. Look at the school scene, was there any distraction?? NO RIGHT? He and takasaki kissed 3 time!! And lastly "Self Insert" Not at all. His relation with misaki Is indicating "LIE"...There's more to it then half piece of Eraser, its also the reason I am still reading the manga. His relation With Nisaka is also complicated. I would say both of the relation is Not "Normal"..We will get more into it. You will most Enjoy the development between Lilina and Nejima cuz We get to see how they fall in love with eachother. I say their love is the "TRUE" Love. Koi to uso tells different kind of love (Check the last scene of episode 3), Right now they are introducing Characters and their different types of feelings toward MC..Story will further explore and surprise you with the twists. He was 10 at the time so that is to be expected, but he still acts the same way now so there is no excuse for his behavior. If you are in love or even admire someone you would at least try to still retain at least some dialogue with said person, not shut yourself completely. If this law never existed he would probably would never had confessed to Misaki. If he has no feeling towards his arrange partner then why it would be weird? Also yes he kissed her 3 times, so what? He still acted all shy afterwards regardless, and i dont see how kissing someone that many times is cosidered a act of courage since they did it privately thinking that no one would see them. I said "self-insert" because that is what it is, the author painted the mc as this bland introvert type of character that lacks any social skill (aka someone the majority of watcher/readers may relate with), that still somehow other characters end up falling in love with over the most trivial reasons. I have no great hopes for this series getting any better but i will stick around and see, still the mc is a complete wimp in my eyes. |

If anything this looks more like is building up to be a sh*ty harem story filled with a lot of forced drama and a mc that acts waaay to much like a comple wimp. Well After seeing MC kissing twice the girl also man up to confess I don't think you should call him "wimp"...He is more passionate when it comes to love and I read the manga so I say Don't judge a book by its Cover, I find him cute too..Not that type of MC who will go around seeing dozens of girls panties "Accidentally" but still be a pussy till the end, will chose the bad girl and make you hate him forever lol I think you giving the guy way too much credit. Yes he found the courage to confess to Misaki but let's not forget how long it took him to do that. It took him 5 years, the same number of years that took him to also even speak with her again.. he is waaay too indecisive. Linina had to almost force him to kiss Misaki so i wouldn't exactly say he should receive credit for that, but regardless the way he constantly acts all shy and bothersome right afterwards is what is annoying. If it was his first kiss sure it migh be cute to see him act like that, however he constatly acts like this no matter the situation. How is a self-insert type mc that does almost nothing throughout the course of the series yet somehow everyone falls in love with him any better? As a manga reader who also watched quite ammount of Harem, Romcom..Koi to uso certainly has more than similarity, It has its own unique taste...And cliches too, you can't help it its anime after all cliches are everywhere lol :D I understand his situation, what i don't understand is his lack of initiative. I have no great hopes for this series getting any better but i will stick around and see, still the mc is a complete wimp in my eyes. I see your standard is very high. I will still defend him. His shyness is also a plus point for him. I mean this kind of people are everywhere around us. In Japan this number is probably higher. There's nothing wrong being shy and introvert, Most anime fans are like that too lol. I told you he did kiss her in the manga and even if he doesnt like Lilina, He is not an insensitive guy, He knows its awkward for misaki too and He obviously has integrity to not do this stuff infront of his arranged partner. I think MC protrays traditional, Asian architecture than the Western..Its pretty normal, I am a asian so I might not get your definition of "Best guy" but in my book Nejima is not a wimp. His VA might giving this wimp vibe to you, but IMO he is not a wimp |

So now Mr. Punchable-face gets 3 love interests, so its harem now. Ririna definitely being the 'wingman' girl but its predictably fall for him surely. Nisaka being gay was a twist I didn't wanna see in this show. Now if its clear that this'll be run-of-the-mill romcom/harem, I couldn't care less about plot. |
