Feel pretty bad for the twins. They were dealt a bad hand and messed up beyond repair.I like the fact Rock did try to console the girl and made sure she knew not everything was darkness.I have a feeling the girl was the last one to die since rock kept saying her and he walked off disguested and pissed not because of a dudes junk but the fact that this kid being so young would do something like that shows that she proboly had awful things happen to her and rock felt it wasint fair. Sad end to a dam good arc. I like the fact rock said to leave her like that since now she can see the blue sky forever and the ending credits was a nice touch to show them at peace.

Even though I enjoyed every episode before this I proboly pick this as so far my favorite arc.

What exactly did that girl show to Rock that made him sick??
if I had to guess, it must've been castration.

If that's the case then that's pretty fucked up, yet plausible considering how they lived back in their younger years.... it would also explain some of the reasons why he could live on looking like his sister as well.

I take back what I said in the other threads about how I hate these twins, this final episode made it all worth it! Balalaika is one cold hearted woman, I'd hate to cross her.

I just assumed he saw how easily the girl was giving herself up for him and the thought of that disgusted him. I'd imagine if he saw a castration he would be vomiting instead of being angry.

Best arc i've seen in any anime in ages...
The start of the second season started off very strongly with the two 'vampire twins'.
- the twins in the beginning were hatable killing machines, however by the end I really pitied them for what they have become due to their fked up past.
- anyone unfortunate enough to piss Balalaika off, will get the fken guillotine. This arc made Balalaika jump to the top of my favourite 'female' casts in any anime for her wits and "badassery".
11/10 for flawless execution of an episode.

to be fair, that was the most humane thing to do to her/him/it... wasn't human anymore, after all.. she said to rock all she did was kill. no one was nice to her. she just liked to kill. (ally or enemy it didn't matter).

first time i've seen revy actually hit the maternal instinct with rock though... that was protective and then some.

rock will learn, not everybody can be saved. most don't wanna be saved. it's the life they've always known, no matter how ****ed up it was.

the fact they tortured that "collector" long after he was dead was just 'normal' for them. (i did like the different ending as well)

Just read through the comments on this thread and it amazes me how many people are wondering "what did she show Rock that made him sick?". I think it was pretty obvious that the reason Rock got pissed/sick is because the first thing she wanted to reward him for being nice to her was sex. Just shows the fucked up childhood these twins had to go through.

Fuck... Just fuck... I don't know where to start...
This fucking episode was just bloddy awesome.

Balalaika showing her most crude and badass face, proving for once and for all that among the rest of the gang leaders in the city she is, by far, rhe most dangerous.

And those bloody twins have probable the most fucking tragic background i've seen so far in the series. I mean... come on... how tormented can a character be?
The conversation with rock was disturbing as hell, and the fate of the poor child almost brought me into tears...

How good can this series become?!

What a fucking unbelievable episode. The story of the Vampire Twins is tragic and disturbing...but I was happy to see the smile taken off her brothers face before he was killed. Also, when Gretel dropped panties on that boat..as a pervert that loves Anime girls, I would of likely accepted her "offer" instantly.

I really like Rock's expression when he snapped, it's unusual from his "clueless" expression.

The ending song really catch my ears, this time I didn't skip it.

This show leans heavy on the nurture aspect of nurture and nature. Also, known as environment and genetics. The two factors that make us who we are. These twins were a product of their environment.

I find it sad that some find pleasure in their demise. They were molested, tortured , and forced to kill. Beat to the point were there pee was red (internal bleeding) and forced to make child pornography. They were never exposed to love and kindness. They became what they only knew. Those that controlled their environment were the true villains.

When it comes to Balalaika I find her quite disgusting. She spent a whole night watching videos of children being raped, including snuff films, as in the life of children were being snuffed out while being raped. Balalaika felt no pity for those children, and those disturbing videos had no impact on her psychological state. She's also a killer and bigger villain then those children IMO.

I believe when it comes to Rock's response to the girl showing him her privates had to do with a child sexually rewarding him for his kindness. He knew that that child had to go through some sick crap to respond in that manner. I believe it was the girl because he kept referring to her as a her after she exposed herself.

Overall I found it a good arc, but I fear that many people like this episode just because it was like really dark so it has to be good. I'm glad this is just an anime but it's a good lesson on how horrible people can treat other people and how it can affect them. It makes me angry that sh@t like this actually happens.

Considering they found out who the twins are from a child porn, I don't think offering sex would surprise Rock that much. His first reaction was shock and somewhat disgust and keeping in mind that twins were switching places with each other i think they were castrated and their genitelia were beyond recognition. That's what get to Rock. Though I can't explain why she would do that to Rock, who she seems okay with at least, but i chalk it up to she being a maniac.

As for the episode and the arc overall, I wasn't really impressed with it and just wandering how Balalaika would deal with them but after hearing Gretel singing the world of midnight, and then hearing the song once more at the end I suddenly realize I was sad for her (not the twins, just her, which also shows the power of the song imo). There was no happy ending for her after what she had been through but at least she didn't suffer like her brother and died watching the beautiful sky.

I disagree with everyone in this thread. Although the back story of the kids is interesting... it is totally negated by the fact that they are kids. It is just completely unbelievable, while I thought that this anime was trying for some level of realism. And there is no advantage to the characters being kids. Perhaps a creepiness factor, but IMO that is completely ruined by the stupidity of the situation. And if the author wanted them to be kids he should not have armed one of them with a machine gun that is bigger than they are. At least the one kid with the ax is at least some what believable.

I am glad they are dead. Now the series can move on.

The so-called "kids" was about the age of child soldiers fighting Africa or those that fought in the Vietnam war. I see no problem with them being children. And the whole arc was a reference to "The Shining" anyway. It's much worse with children as soldiers, they completely lack conscience and morality.

Well, that machine gun was a bit exaggerated, but how do you explain Revy killing a whole platoon of soldiers by herself without even getting scratch? This is anime, so exaggeration must be expected......How do you explain Roberta having the "body of steel"? I have thrown away the "realism factor" long time ago since I started reading Fist of North Star when I was in preschool.

Couldn't have said it any better myself.

What is the matter with some of you, Rock wasn't disgusted at seeing male or female genitalia. He was disgusted that a child's reaction to someone being nice was to instantly propose sex, further cementing how far gone these kids were.

This arc though.

The pasts of the twins and how they affected them was pretty dark. Not only their murders but also them groping Edas breasts or showing Rock their genitalia.

They had to go through some shit. Just sad.

The one who died at the end of this episode could have also been the guy. Whichever gender the second one was, it was undoubtedly NOT a pretty sight for Rock when he/she lifted up his/her skirt. One's imagination can run wild for that, it's probably in a state where your typical average citizen wouldn't be able to recognize anything at all.

It's a castrated guy.

As far as I'm concerned, the highlight of this anime is how different Rock is from the rest of the characters, and how he has maintained a sense of uncorrupted goodness. I love that, and it was used in this episode with beautiful effect during the scene in the ship with Rock and the second twin.

How often do we watch an action packed, explosive, gun-fest of a show and just see people dying left and right while not really thinking anything of it? Well, I know that I personally tend to get caught up in things like that, to the point where I get numb to the violence. I think the scene with Rock and the second twin was a bit of self aware reflection, perhaps talking outward to the audience. For all the times when we can get psyched up and numbed to the death and destruction of a show like this, there *needs* to be a character like Rock. He serves to slow things down and remind both the audience and the other characters that all this action and death may be exciting, but it is not normal or good. He is the call to return to sanity.

I almost want to say that this one scene kind of sums up the dynamic of the entire show, with their conversational exchange, followed up by Revy punching the twin in the face.
