Finally finished this VN in the last 20 minutes.

As routes go I rate them...

Amane > Makina > Sachi > Michiru > Yumiko

As for the actual heroines themselves...

Makina > Amane > Michiru > Sachi > Yumiko

At least in my own opinion, I'm sure there are plenty of Yumiko shippers but in comparison to the others, there just wasnt too many moments to inspire a "HNNNNGH!" sort of feeling.

I'm nearly finish downloading Majikoi S right now and I want to once again try downloading Grisaia. Since that last time I'm download this it end up with failure. So can you guys tell me where to download (not torrent) that can be resumed. I don't want to waste any more time doing something worthless like last time.

When was the last time you tried playing it without success? I think there's been some patch at some point at least, dunno if that'd help but-
Any specific reason why it can't be a torrent? Limits the options quite a lot.

Because torrent=slow simple as that. Anyway I've try re-installing it a few time but all end in failure. So I decide to try again this time and if this doesn't work again then I'm giving up on this VN since I don't have any problem on other VN.

Jesus, this visual novel doesn't hold back. First playthrough blind and I hit a bad end:

Anyway, based on what I played so far, I can't help but worry that Yuuji won't get the spotlight, that this visual novel will focus on the girls and not Yuuji as a main character. Not saying that a lack of backstory on his part is a bad thing, considering that I'm kind of expecting it to end up like that anyway, but a focus on the main character is what would have me give this visual novel the "masterpiece" rating.

After glancing over other people's posts, this is my route of choice:

Amane (already done) > Sachi = Yumiko > Michiru > Makina

Since people are saying Amane and Makina are the best routes, I'm saving Makina's for last. Since people say Michiru's is "dark," I'm putting her there as the second-to-last. I put an equal sign between Sachi and Yumiko because I can't decide. Maybe a coin flip or something. =|

Side note: Can't any of these visual novel creators program the ability to save infinitely without deleting old saves? I save frequently in every game I play that has savestates (my Skyrim save folder is over 4 GB and growing, for crying out loud).

Nah Michiru's route is anything but "dark". Have to say her route is quite light hearted and bit dramatic and crazy-driven. Regardless to say Michiru is one of the sweetest girl in the game.

Finally finished Grisaia.

Rating heroines:

Amane > Makina = Michiru(I'm seriously getting fond of her every route passes) > Sachi >= Yumiko.

As for the routes:

Sachi > Michiru >= Amane(Damn this was kind of letdown) = Makina > Yumiko.

Also, the only bad end that I got was from Amane's. Goddammit I wasn't expecting that letting Amane escape by her own is a wrong choice.

Man, I try to get Sachi's bad end on my first try and instead I got the good one. Although, her bad end lacked any sort of meaning or impact, at least compared to Amane's bad end.

I know I committed myself to Yumiko's route right after Sachi's, but looking at the context in which I'm making that final choice that defaults me into Yumiko's route, Michiru's route appears to be much more interesting at first glance. Started playing Yumiko's route, and it got boring after the action came to a halt.

Edit (after finishing Yumiko's route): Damn. Is it me or is Yumiko's route too fucking short?

Yeah, they seem to not get in the way of each other. No, wait, I don't think it's possible to mix them up as one linear story. We'd need the omnibus format for that.

As for Yumiko's route being the most likely? Ehh. They all seem equally likely to me, considering that there is no "true" route.

There's a contradiction. Yuuji needs to end up with someone so you can go to that certain heroine route. Otherwise, it won't make sense why he's going on a certain heroine route without him ending up with the heroine in question. I doubt they can do it without ruining it so it's best to make it omnibus format(Yosuga No Sora style) so it won't hurt much.

That was the one of the toughest dilemma that I've encountered besides Sachi's dilemma until I remembered the hints that Yuuji's thoughts gave me.

But anyway, I'm surprised most of here like Amane's route. To be honest, I'm kinda disappointed on her route. It's not that I hate her route but... it's like "That's not what I'm asking for...". I was really expecting that it'll be like Michiru's route but no, what I got is most of her route is all about the past(Particularly the bus crash and the 15 days of survival) and less Yuuji and Amane moments(Not including the H-scenes). Surely her past is overwhelming especially the final day of their survival part but still...

I guess it makes sense why Michiru has the highest amount of favorites(22) here in MAL among the Grisaia characters and not Amane(17).

Think I clocked mine to 82 hours for 100% completion; about 15-20 hrs for the common route and something like 9-15 for the different character routes

Then again I don't know what my reading speed is compared to the norm, and it also depends on how much you're willing to stay and listen for all the voiced lines to finish or not, but yeah Grisaia is insanely long overall, longest non-SRPG one I've ever played.

I shall assume that your reading speed is similar to the norm. I feel very apprehensive now. If I spend an hour weekly, it'll be like a year and months before I finish the game.

How did you manage to sit through such a gargantuan chunk of text? Daily dosage for up to two hours?

I'm contemplating deleting it to make space for my computer, though everyone's take on this VN makes it as if not completing this VN would be a regrettable decision.

well I can't bring myself to play visual novels in any other way than marathoning

in the case of Grisaia I did it during summer vacation over about a one-week period, so around 12 hrs/day or so

obviously you can't be quite that extreme during normal times, but I'd still rather concentrate what sparetime I could find to one thing at a time

Wow, that's really impressive! My concentration is not decent enough to keep my attention from waning rapidly when attending to non-academic related stuff. Sitting for two hours in front of the computer with little breaks is the maximum my capacity can allow for. I usually start feeling slight nauseous past (or slightly before) the one hour mark. Then I have to get up from the chair and exercise a little to ward off the sickly feeling.

gamer2710 said:

Haha, I try to set aside an hour weekly for it because I cannot bring myself to read through it more frequently. I have yet to feel attached to it, despite it being decent so far, and I have a feeling that if I push myself to read through it more consistently, my stamina and attention will drain so fast that I would have abstain myself from reading through the VN before I have recovered completely.

edit: forgot to reply to the part about disk space. I have the habit of keeping my disk as clean as possible, so I always like to rid myself of the unnecessary stuff. I don't feel secured if I left stuff I'll never touch all over the place. I am left with 100+GB and I guess that's probably plenty sufficient since I don't have much permanent items aside from the growing book collections and school documents.

Finished the visual novel finally, will do a review of it.

I would say Amane's had the strongest route overall but Yumiko, Sachi and Michiru's route were also really great.

The only one that was disappointed was Makina. The pacing was all kinds of terrible and Makina is incredibly shallow compared to the other girls. It was nice to see more Yuuji but you still weren't given enough about him (I'm guessing the sequels cover this more). Overall an ok route, certainly not bad, but definitely could have used it's time better.

Generally the flashbacks were the best part of every route outside of Makina (which really felt like they didn't put anywhere near the amount of effort into it). But overall a solid game. I'm really tempted to just ATLAS the sequels as I'm quite curious on the rest of the story.

All right, so I just finished this visual novel.

Relative route rating (from most liked to least liked):
Sachi = Makina >= Amane > Yumiko >>>>>>>>>> Michiru

You may notice a discrepancy between this post and a previous post in another thread. After thinking about it, Michiru's route seemed the least plausible and the least believable. There was almost nothing about Yuji's past compared to the other routes, and Michiru's past had the least impact on me. Almost everything in her route, barring any gratuitous comedy routines, felt forced,

At least Yumiko's route, despite being too simple and not giving enough depth, felt more believable than Michiru's.

Relative heroine rating (from most liked to least liked):
Yumiko > Amane > Sachi > Makina > Michiru

Sorry, but that little tsundere act didn't help at all.

Overall rating: I was hovering between 6 and 7, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. No doubt that the two things that hurt it the most in my opinion are: Michiru and the lack of character depth for Yuji.

Final verdict: 7/10.
