I think I am coming to like this anime quite a lot. The cgi stuff still bothers me but I think I will get through it.
I haven't seen much music theme anime so I guess maybe that's why I like this anime, but this episode was really good.
Anyways, I am excited to see the next ep as well as the other band members.

I should have known in advance and it's somewhat predictable that the younger stepsister would about-face and have a radical change of heart eventually, whether spontaneously or due to some catalyst. At least there was a proper catalyst, in style. The Japanese, I felt, are as a whole collectively too into their loving doting imouto tropes to have one as a real malicious enemy who remains malicious and opposed to the main character throughout. I'm sure it exists out there somewhere in some anime or other Japanese media, but it was not destined to be here. I didn't mind it though. It was conveyed in a very captivating and emotionally stirring way.

Overall this was the best episode of the series out thus far by a country mile. And further, this may have been the best/my favorite episode of all new series of the entire season thus far. Well, maybe on par with or next to/slightly after the first premiere episodes of some series like Kowloon Generic Romance and Kijin Gentoushou. And as I'm watching 15 and tentatively had had this series ranked at 10th or lower on informal lists, for it to be an episode from a series like that I've thought was pretty "meh" from the start, is no small feat.

That was absolute FIRE πŸ”₯

Lilisa's rock has captured Arisu's heart, her hatred for Lilisa has now become admiration, now I wanna see how their relationship as sisters will grow from here.

Lilisa Mom still crazy scary, I can't believe she showed that face to Arisu... I can't judge her yet without knowing the story but I can't help wondering if she's wrong in the head.

Did not expect beef with a random middle aged man with not only our cast but also a different middle aged man. Strangely enough I am here for that.

I absolutely love that they went that route with Alice. I was dreading the confrontation, possible blackmail subplot, or whatever because I honestly thought it would have been too much on what our main characters already have to deal with. Like, I think their current situations already produce a sufficient amount of tension for the story to be compelling. So not having Alice be a whole antagonist is such a breath of fresh air. Thaaaank you.

What a change in atmosphere for both Otoha and Lilisa playing in Uekusa's symphonic band, though one slight criticism from the same-aged Jun Ishitani sure got the latter's hopes to perform her very best. Of course, Alice being at the venue and to hear such bad low-class music alongside Hiyori, it feels as if she's wasted her time being there.

That is until Alice found out Lilisa playing the bass than the violin, and despite the disharmony created by both the drums and bass, it's also the centrifugal force driving everyone to their limits, and also the crowd to their insane once-in-a-blue-moon performance that even as Ishitani complimenting him. But Lilisa going off the rails is just her usual delinquency alongside Otoha's ladylike insults, which they both complement each other, is once again funny to watch, even impressing Alice that she finally saw a side to the stepsister that she now admires. But for her to inquire who Lilisa was like from her mother, it defintely brought out the psycho within her, trying to obfuscate her past to the elegant present.

At least both ladies did a service to their usual musical work, bang on baby.

Wow hype episode. Amazing music not like the lukewarm disney musical shit that you see in western media.

Yeah.

Enthusiasm for this series is becoming bigger and bigger. If everything is ok, Alice has already ended her potential villain arc, and it wasn't something to give for granted unlike the musical exhibition (not that it wasn't interesting to watch). Too bad the mother is more and more likely to cause real trouble. That singer... it almost seemed he got away with everything because of compliments with the conductor, but it was a good choice to have this scene before talking to Lilisa and Otoha because... well... obvious.

Welp.. I guess they got what they were signing up for when joining a random band as support crew. But man do they already find the stuck-uo rivals. Other dude releases a minor cd and thinks he's on top of the world. Just look at the way that guy is dressed πŸ‘€ Ishitani in the red suit and all

Guess he does have a voice, bare minimum

But yeah, for Alice to join in on the fun πŸ˜” because of a private tutor's twin sister. Screw her trying to ruin the rock band.

Ya know, for as much as the dude waving the baton worries about people not keeping up... maybe he needed a little more faith in them. They're rising to the challenge of the tempo, perhaps not smoothly but they get where they need to. Feel if Lilisa was aware Alice was in the room it might have hindered her ability to jam out.

But they let those instruments roar alright. The girls saved their performance from being mellow in the end. Can't say I was deeply impressed, but still look forward to more of the ladies jamming.

Those girls truly know to tear a hole in any musician around em post performance. Holy XD ended their career with a middle finger on top

This is ridiculous, but so much fun. The middle-finger "gokigenyou" from the duo was awesome.

Even with the rock-n'-roll attitude and the innuendos, the show seems more focused on the music than most.

The ladies really amped up that classical piece! Amazing. Besides showing the rest of the classical band a new way to play by just increasing the tempo, they got everyone swept up in the performance, including the audience!

Lilisa better be careful or she's going to get found out by her scary mom. At least now her step sister doesn't see her as that much of an outside enemy anymore, realizing she does have something she's great at, and the passion to pursue.

Rock is the music of Rebellion, and in a way Arisu by keeping quiet about Lilisa's rock is also rebelling against her stepmom, Lilisa's mom.

LOL @ all the old dudes getting caught up in the girls tempo.

Tho... apparently Lilisa already has her guitar prepared on the side... here she was saying it's just a "lucky charm" at the beginning, LOL (she totally planned this from the beginning)

.

HOLY SHIT @ all the "dic insults"... especially with the cute smiling face from Otoha...

.

And MC becomes a real "onee-sama" to the imouto, lol.

(Imouto's issue with Lilisa is cause she thinks MC is a huge liar like her manipulator mom, but now she knows the real Lilisa, the imouto changes her view of MC)

(but the mom's still an issue... wonder how MC will solve this...)

The whole “Red Familia” group has such a mediocre mentality.... Slow down the tempo? If they practiced their instruments even just three times a week (not even daily), they could easily keep up with the tempo. Allegro isn't even fast, it's a moderate tempo. To think that the only goal is to “have fun” is a very lazy excuse. Yes, music should be fun - I know that first hand - but refusing to force the tempo just to avoid mistakes is pure comfort zone mentality. That's why the singer's criticism is really valid. Sure, putting out two CDs is no big deal, there were hardly any people in the auditorium when I sang.

And the same goes for the girls' decision not to look for a vocalist. I think it's another way of staying in their comfort zone, because the lyrics are difficult. Writing good lyrics and putting them to music is work. With instrumental music, that complexity doesn't exist. Turning down a singer is equivalent to slowing down the tempo to make fewer mistakes. Well, that's more of a personal opinion, but it doesn't take away from the fact that they play very well. This anime turns me into Lilisa and Otoha when they’re insulting people πŸ˜….

But what a performance from them: they absolutely shut up that “professional singer”. And Alice's opinion about Lilisa changed completely. Before she hated her because she thought she was fake, someone wearing a mask, pretending to be someone she was not. That disconnect made it impossible to get along with her. But now that Alice saw the real Lilisa, raw and unfiltered, she was captivated. I'd even go so far as to say she'll become Lilisa's number one fan and the group's strongest ally.

Oh, and speaking of noticing things.... Lilisa's mom is terrifying. I swear, just by the look on her face, I wouldn't be surprised if she had something to do with what happened to Lilisa's father. I have no proof, but I have zero doubt. That woman gives off total psycho energy.

@Narizor This is the same piece that the marching played in the first season of "Hibiki Euphonium". I didn't look, but I wonder if the director did both series and put this Easter egg in.
Which one do you want? An Addiction or A Good Life?
A) Addiction - a progressive narrowing of the things that bring you pleasure.
B) A Good Life - a progressive expansion of the things that bring you pleasure and includes pleasure through motivation and hard work.

Takarajima poppin' off!! This song goes harder than it ever has!!

I'm glad that Alice's writing is predictable. It's been obvious that she hates how Lilisa and her mother come off as fake—'cause me too! And now that she's found out the true side of Lilisa, she respects the hell out of her. You just love seeing someone being so raw, especially if you've felt like you've been trapped in a cage your whole life, just like all those girls in their BS Academy

Fuck that green-haired bitch at the end. No wonder your man left you before.
Although we still don't know if her ex-husband left her through divorce or if he just died, so… yeah, we'll see.

@sbyrstall2 I checked—they're not the same person. Besides, Takarajima is a fairly popular piece, so I think it's just a coincidence.
Though I'm pretty sure the director of this show has definitely seen Hibike before.

F*CK YOUR SLOW ASS TEMPO. There were 2 kids in the front row of the venue playing cards, place was practically empty, and they filled it up just from attracting passers-by. Lilisa switch from bass and whipping out the guitar was hype that even "avengers assemble" from endgame didn't even know. They both drop a bomb on the place and flip off the bird in unison, but not before being caught by Arisu. But instead of hiding herself, Lilisa bares at all, and heck even kinda rizzes up her own sister. Absolute cinema of an episode.
