Great to see Otoha and Lilila work together to prove the critics that they have what it takes for a band to break through.

Besides just the pure emotions, we got to see music and instruments being the highight on stage. Flutes, trumpets, etc. This felt like one of those 'absolute cinema' episodes. Lilia looked so hyped up as she played her guitar.

In Alice eyes Lilisa went from rotten woman to onee sama from just watching a concert.
This episode clearly shows that Lilisa's mother has some sort of trauma from what happened with Lilisa's father.

The visuals where pretty good especially to focus on Otaha when she was playing was nice.
Maybe a bit to much spinning around tho.
And there seemed to be a hint with the blue haired girl that was shown outside the concert hall.

Lilisa going totally berserk with the verbal abuse was peak comedy—and then Otoha stepping in to handle the situation only to do the exact same thing herself? This whole scene was hilarious as f**k. And the way Otoha and Lilisa were soaked from that intense orga-music session—like always—was peak. One of the best duos out there, and it looks like things are only going to get wilder with even more nutcase girls joining the band next episode.

It was somewhat predictable that Hiyori was inviting Arisu to the competition/festival. But I don’t care—even if her attitude toward Lilisa has genuinely changed for the better, I still won’t like her because of her rotten personality. It’s obvious the show will push moments where Arisu acts nice and loving toward Lilisa in future episodes, but knowing her true nature, I just can’t. She’s an unnoteworthy character, so if I ever start to like her in any way, it’ll only be because I forgot how she was—she’s just that forgettable.

Lilisa’s mother is as psycho as ever when it comes to the past and her husband. The way her eyes went completely lifeless when Arisu asked about Lilisa says a lot about their history—not that it wasn’t obvious before. I’ll be furious if they drag out the reveal of the past for more than two episodes, because I’m seriously curious about what actually happened. And it better not be some bullsh*t like her not being “compatible” with her husband or whatever.

Weekly dose of my rock lesbians. We got our first public performance for the girls and as expected, they totally stole the show from the orchestra band 😂 but in doing so, they helped the band leader finally get the respect he deserves, shut up that cocky “pro” singer AND Alice finally sees her sister for who she is. Best performance yet.

Crazy how some people get older, but don’t grow up. That Jun fella’s such a nasty piece of work. Putting down the band performing with you is so stupid, you’re like 50 dude act like it. “Songs without vocals are just background music”. Bro has never heard a Zimmer or Sawano score. Soon as Lilisa called Otoha “Oto” and got that murderous look on her face, I knew she was locked in lol.

The girls’ performance was sooo good, it’s insane how far 3DCGI has come this is some of the best I’ve ever seen. Lilisa and Otoha totally took over that performance though 😂 the band members had to be so confused, but the audience loved it and it all worked out in the end. They “blew their clothes off”, alright. The nerve of that Jun loser to try and get them to be a backup band for his tour after all the shit he talked tho. First time we’ve seen Lilisa be her true self outside of the band performances with Otoha and that was her best cursing out lol.

I told y’all last week I’ve seen way too many of these siblings haters to lovers examples in band anime to fall for Alice’s hate gimmick. She obviously just wanted Lilisa to start being true to herself and fully embrace who she is. Now she’s gonna be the biggest Lilisa Stan in the world I can’t wait

Nah I knew the mom was weird, but this bitch is genuinely insane. Need her d**d badly. Feel like she’s got some sort of spell on the dad because idk how he could’ve fallen for her. Great episode though, can’t wait for more members to join the band.

This episode was great, the setup, the music, the outcome - perfect.

And I am so glad Alice get to see her real sister, and after talking with Mom she get's it why she acts the way she does. Hopefully the two of them will keep together from now on.

I see that we already have one new member possibly joining next episode. Hopefully show will just getting more intense and awesome.

Lilisa's words would make Ishitani never sing again 😭😭
Finally, Alice was able to see her step sis for who she really is and loves her for it ✨💖
Now she must know how terrifying Lilisa's mom can be.
The third member for their band has arrived since we saw the blue haired girl looking at their performance..❤️❤️

What the hell are you doing here, Taki sensei? That orchestra was so darn incompetent so much so that they were overpowered by two angsty teens. Main girl is honestly still unlikable to me fr with how she acted out after the performance which is actually pretty good when combo with orchestra backing. Her mother is a damn huge red flag with how comically pyscho she was portrayed so far. The show certainly has an on going theme for being free from constraint and be yourself very rock thing. This episode in particular really nailed this aspect the best and hopefully there is somewhat a nuance being put on her mother or the main girl so they are much easier to symphatise with or otherwise this is just a bad show that try to ride the wave.

What an amazing performance by the girls and the band, my favorite musical number so far, I love how they mixed the old and the new-ish instruments.
Also loved how Alice got absolutely blown away seeing Lilisa playing like this, to the point she now seems to be firmly on her side and to like Lilies ('yuri' in japanese) quite a bit haha.
On the other hand, the mom is scary, hope she won't go completely crazy if she finds out about her daughter's hobby.
Last but not least, I think we got a slight peek at a future member of the band (girl with blue hair), I imagine she'll be the focus of next week.

Easily my favorite episode so far :)

The first performance for Lilisa and Otoha in front of people was greeted very enthusiastically with lots of applause.

Honestly I really liked this collaboration concert and I didn't expect it to be this good. This is good for Otoha and Lilisa they also seemed satisfied with their first concert too, even though they got scolded in the end hahaha.

And it also seems like Arisu has finally started to realize Lilisa's greatness in music, I'm sure she will likes her now and Arisu was also cute in this episode I love her. I'm also glad that she was able to come on stage and this is thanks to her friend.

The way they played Takarajima at the end, the tempo is everywhere signifying nobody in the band can keep up with Otoha and Lilisa, it's really chaotic....
That being said, the music this EP, IT'S FO F*ING COOL!!!!!!! Idc if the tempo is all over the place, the arrangement is so f*ing cool, holy sh*t!!!!

Wasn't sure about this show until this episode. Looking forward to the rest of this series.

But really though, if you think the CGI in this series is good, go watch Blue Giant. This is pretty crappy as it's not really synchronized to the actual playing, and it has this typical CGI "wave" movement. But it's good enough for this type of show I guess.

The whole “Red Familia” group has such a mediocre mentality.... Slow down the tempo? If they practiced their instruments even just three times a week (not even daily), they could easily keep up with the tempo. Allegro isn't even fast, it's a moderate tempo. To think that the only goal is to “have fun” is a very lazy excuse. Yes, music should be fun - I know that first hand - but refusing to force the tempo just to avoid mistakes is pure comfort zone mentality. That's why the singer's criticism is really valid. Sure, putting out two CDs is no big deal, there were hardly any people in the auditorium when I sang.

And the same goes for the girls' decision not to look for a vocalist. I think it's another way of staying in their comfort zone, because the lyrics are difficult. Writing good lyrics and putting them to music is work. With instrumental music, that complexity doesn't exist. Turning down a singer is equivalent to slowing down the tempo to make fewer mistakes. Well, that's more of a personal opinion, but it doesn't take away from the fact that they play very well. This anime turns me into Lilisa and Otoha when they’re insulting people 😅.

But what a performance from them: they absolutely shut up that “professional singer”. And Alice's opinion about Lilisa changed completely. Before she hated her because she thought she was fake, someone wearing a mask, pretending to be someone she was not. That disconnect made it impossible to get along with her. But now that Alice saw the real Lilisa, raw and unfiltered, she was captivated. I'd even go so far as to say she'll become Lilisa's number one fan and the group's strongest ally.

Oh, and speaking of noticing things.... Lilisa's mom is terrifying. I swear, just by the look on her face, I wouldn't be surprised if she had something to do with what happened to Lilisa's father. I have no proof, but I have zero doubt. That woman gives off total psycho energy.

A masterpiece of an episode. I know that sports and music anime tend to be very intense, like DBZ-level stuff, but to be completely honest, the first half of this episode had me with goosebumps, literally bobbing my head to the beat throughout Red Familia's performance. It was mainly because of how intense both Otoha and Lilisa were; I swear.

Red Familia aside, I swear, the comedy in this anime is top-notch, especially with all the censored slurs. I'm glad that for the first time in forever, both Lilisa and Otoha teamed up to insult someone else, instead of their usual routine of insulting each other. Ishitani thought it would be all cool if he apologized after making fun of the band, and that would've been fine and all, if it hadn't been in the presence of the she-devils Otoha and Lilisa, haha.

Ishitani aside, I'm really happy that Alice has made such an adorable 180, going from despising her big sister to literally having her heart race as soon as Lilisa shared a secret with her. Really glad she was a good little sister and actually kept the secret from her mom.

Alice aside, yo that scene near the end scared me. I don't know why, but the mom gives off such yandere vibes. Maybe cuz she IS a yandere? Maybe cuz she probably has amnesia? Maybe cuz she's deliberately refusing to acknowledge, recall, remember, or accept that there was a past prior to the current life she's living? No clue. Either way, that really made me super curious about the past before to the anime's prologue. Hope we get either an explanation or a flashback soon. Till then, imma wait. Raised my rating of this from a 7 to a 9, by the way, due to how good this episode was. Seriously.

The mom aside, I really loved the new nicknames Otoha and Lilisa started calling each other—Oto and Lily—which were mainly used to avoid revealing their true identities to Red Familia. I hope they stick with the nicknames because it sounds so adorable when they call each other that way. In time, they might even become besties, which would be even more heartwarming. I really hope they grow on each other and start getting closer and getting along, instead of always fighting like children at the end of every duo performance.

It's mocapped so the CGI is doing exactly what the RL performers are doing. And it is synchronized to the audio pretty much, the only time it gets slightly off is when it's focusing on one of the girls then the other one doesn't always match the music, which I assumed was down to doing multiple takes. It's that music synchronization that makes it watchable, I usually tend to switch off CGI shit on principle.

Anyway, after my concerns last week, the only word I can think of to describe this episode is "exhilarating".

It's such a shame that you have to delete your previous reviews instead of being able to update them (I'm one of the two people who gave this a "Mixed Feelings" review).
Yes, the overall pacing is so slow that the OP likely has spoiled stuff as late as episode 12 (If not more), but part of that is due to the Gesamtkunstwerk scenes in episodes like these.

I like that Alice essentially called that guy's music "Kitsch" (Well, she didn't use the term explicitly, but that was basically the criticism" and that you had various scenes that amounted to "Class Consciousness: The Anime": Rich people, as in REALLY rich people, "Old Money" especially, live in a different reality, they never frequent the same places as non-rich people. Realistically speaking, the probability of you meeting one of them in person is the same probability of you getting to see the king 300 years ago: Only in the specific situation where they CHOOSE to show themselves to you.

That's actually not true. In Girls Band Cry franchise there were 3 bands: real-life Togenashi Togeari, in-anime Togenashi Togeari (voiced by the IRL members) and a third pretend band who specialize in "air guitar" for motion capture. That's because video needs highly exaggerated movements for any music performance to look good. If the actual band was mo-capped while making real music, the result would look very plain.

This was the weakest ep thus far. 100% sure the girl duo will be outed by a 3rd party and have to bear the fallout. Anyhow, it goes against basic logic that Oto would insult anyone in public, as that could bring down her family if tabloids get a scoop of the incident. Lily is just a vulgar prole, though. Btw, that singer looked a bit like the mercenary general from Nausicaa.
