A bunch of restored anime from the beginning of anime.
namakura gatana, urashima tarou, katsudou shashin, saru kani gassen.

After that it goes to the 60s with jungle taitei and taiyou no ouji.

That award, at least so far to me, would go to Lupin III. I quite happen to like it, even if the episodic nature of the anime makes it feel like a saturday morning cartoon. The newest parts of recent years have been a blast as well.

Like when it was released..
Do you like old animes? Would you watch an anime that old?

I've seen some from 1968 and japan looked very different from what you see now..

It almost has a 3rd world feel to it, with slums and poverty-stricken society. Not all blue sky and cherry blossoms.

I've seen kyojin no hoshi (baseball anime not all episodes), cyborg 009, akane chan, sabu to ichi, youkai ningen bem and gegege no kitaro.. some of them are black and white.
Namakura Gatana, oldest anime ever made, watched it for that exact reason lol

I've seen a few anime from the 70, 80s and 90s, they're all in my "On Hold" list. The oldest is:

I have them there because I intend to watch them and I do intend on watching other old anime.

Ashita no Joe, which is I'm currently watching. Aired 1970, my mum just got born lmao.
1990 might be the oldest for me. This is the first and last time I'll watch anime this old. I won't watch anime any older than 1990 anymore.

That's your choice but just out of curiosity, how would you figure out some of the parodies in Gintama and get the joke?

I wouldn't say I figured out them. I can understand the parodies ONLY with the anime that I've seen, which is not much. I don't even get most of the parodies, especially Dragon Ball since DB is huge part of most of Gintama parodies. But since I know japanese, I may not understand the parody part, but I can get the comedy side of it that lies behind the japanese language. Like the role of "straight man" use in japanese comedy (you will get what I say if you watch Gintama or any japanese comedy show).

So the understanding of japanese really is a huge advantage for someone like me. For ppl that don't know japanese, I guess either they have watched the mentioned anime for parody or they don't understand but the parody part is simply hilarious for them.
But of course, not all of the comedy are parody. There are also comedy that is just simply comedy, originally come from Gintama.

I appreciate the 'Classics' (Anime is still evolving) and I'm sure (People are still people though).

It was a character of Go Nagai, who created 'Ecchi', so I was curious.

Personally I recommend the 'New Cutey Honey' OVA's, since it's an all-around better experience.

I just watched 4 episodes of Ougon Bat which aired in 1967, so that takes my top slot of oldest anime watched from what I could find.

My earliest memory is of an anime produced in 1971 called γ€€Genshi Shounen Ryuu(Primitive Boy RyuοΌ‰ It used to air during summer reruns when I was a kid, and I think it was the catchy melody of the OP that helped me remember it until !
