| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Episode 13 (or the first of the specials) is finally with us. So a longer episode, with no opening, covering the entire second round and just about all the third one. I guess they might be able to make it through in 3 episodes after all. Sumire's abilities looked really good animated. Anyway, the stuff covered this episode. Izumi is completely out of her league against her three third year opponents, getting completely outwitted by Sumire, who in turn is outwitted by Yuu. And Yoshiko's barrage of cheap wins prevents Shiraitodai uncovering her tell. They know it's there now though, so it may be gone by the finals, which could be bad news for Yuu. The middle match turns into a rerun of the second round, with Ako and Sera battling it out, with the other two schools losing masses of points. Except this time there's a twist, as Shibuya has landed herself a very nice hand. And Awai finally gets a bit of screentime. Next episode: the end of the third round match, and then the vice captain's match. |

| I loved it. The anime versions seriously takes what makes the manga good and amplifies it even more. I loved the matches, and Ako's game is prob one of the funniest to watch imo. HARVEST TIME! |

 What a wonderful Christmas this is! The episode was awesome, although a bit rushed. They skipped Ako's first half of the match. I can't wait for the next episode! Everyone is counting SHindouji out but Shindouji strong! |

No i think they are sticking out perfectly to the manga, there's nothing that has been left out there and in fact i think they added in some minor details to connect bits and pieces that you will not get to show out via a manga. A really well done episode here, loved yuu's game and the 3rd match is great when it's animated. Moving at this pace they'll be able to cover the entire semi final match possibly with a little bit of time to spare for maybe some cameo appearances from side B? That's what i am hoping though :p * finger crossed* I still think that teru's voice does not fit teru ;D Her VA is great but it's just so not teru-like :P |

| Didn't you know that Saki it's magical Mahjong? If you have read the manga and watch the previous saki everyone have some kind of ability. From what I can see Teru didn't show her true power becuase that Awai said something about you didn't use that whatever she said. Teru actually feel sorry for Toki, somehow it's feel she just acting all cold. Haha it was fun to see Yuu dodging her fire arrows and the 1st year girl from Senriyama got hit by it. Next episode: Harvest Time!!! Can we see a bowling time as well? :D |

I dunno what to do. :_: Anyways Saki was epic as usual. I loled so much at "Third-years will always reach tenpai faster so there was nothing you could do" Oh boy so awesome! |

I see the anime is still jumping from characters all over the place. Think Baccano or Durarara but with mahjong but badly executed. Every characters 'problems' or 'ideals' are forced on us, even if they barely appear and hell, the side characters should be labeled main characters since we're shown more of them than we are the main characters. Just look at the ending (which I'm assuming is going to be the opening for the next episodes), the Shiraitodai girls show up more than the others but the majority of the episode revolved more around the Senriyama girls. Not saying the 'main characters' didn't show up or do anything but they sure don't reach that 'main character' status. At least the original focused more on the main cast and the more 'important' characters as while this one keeps focusing on random players during each game. | Saki intrigued me enough to learn the rules, and I've played a few games solo against a computer program, so that I could follow the show. But I've never played against live opponents, either in person or via on-line. Not interested in on-line play and I don't know anybody locally that would be interested. |

| Ah it's been a long wait for the eps but it was worth it! Great episode with entertaining battle visuals, archery scene was badass. Stylips song was a pleasant surprise. |

There are many different between normal/chinese or generally call cantonese mahjong or Hong Kong mahjong. The different is:- 1) Dead Tile 2) Dora and Ura dora 3) Riichi (Riichi also use in taiwan and korean mahjong) 4) Usually no season and flower tile use 5) Abortive draws 6) Minimum point for cantonese mahjong is 3 fan and japanese mahjong is 1 han There also other different from yaku, term, scoring and many more. Oh well. I play tenhou and janryumon but lately i play on mahjong hime because the game in english, popular seiyuu like Kugimiya Rie voiced it and i can choose between taiwanese, japanese and singpore/malaysia rules. |
