| Man, these episodes are getting silly. It really toned down the mature and serious tone here with humor. They kinda made Shiki look like a fool this episode and we got to know more about that Oni Corporation. That glasses woman was hilarious though, seems she has somewhat lack of a common sense. This is a new arc so I do expect the pacing to pick up soon. |

| Well, they didn't waste time in introducing this arc. One part of the episode was dedicated in exploring the reconnaissance unit and exploring a bit more of the setting for the anime, and the other on Shiki and Mikado's friendship. They really aren't hiding these 2 will get into a fight later on, especially because they clearly show it in the new opening too. But overall, it was nice to see Shiki finally finding someone with the same interests as him, since his classmates don't seem to be similar to him at all. I just wonder how he was always able to have free time to spend with Mikado, when the others had to stay behind. While I do like the change of scenery and the idea of the plot, I don't know, but I felt like the dialogue this episode was weak (especially the scene at the reconnaissance unit). But I really liked Mikado as a character, and it seems like, for once, there's going to be a Momotarou that has more to him than "I need to kill all Oni". I wasn't expecting that Shiki's Blood Draw would end up the way it did. Besides the female character designs, the anime usually doesn't have much more elements of fanservice, but they went all out this episode (and it has been more common in these latest episodes overall). Once again, yet another female character with a pair of assets that saying it's exaggerated would be an understatement. Poor Shiki was traumatized after seeing what he saw. I wasn't ready for that turn of events either Shiki. But this kind of scene isn't properly new for anime, so there's that. But this scene wasn't only for the fanservice, we actually got the info that Shiki, being a Kishin child, will have a shorter lifespan. Not sure if it's just because of the powers they hold, or if it's because Kishin's children are usually attacked by the Momotarou. So the Doctor wanted Shiki to have "fun". That last dialogue between Shiki and Mikado was interesting, and now I'm curious to know more about the accident Mudano mentioned at the end of the episode. But most importantly, WE GOT A NEW PAIR OF OPENING/ENDING. I have to say, I wasn't expecting the new opening to sound like that. That beginning of the song goes crazy hard. And the animation for the opening was also quite cool, and it seems it's foreshadowing somethings that are going to happen later on in this arc (namely about Jin). Eventhough I still love the 1st opening from The Oral Cigarettes, that still holds the title for best opening of the year, this new opening did not disappoint, and I'm glad this wasn't one of those cases where the 1st opening is super good, and then the 2nd one is quite weak. The ending was quite surprising too. The 1st one really fitted the anime, and was quite upbeat and aggressive, while this new one is so much more chill, and is honeslty a vibe, I liked it! I have to say the animation had a big downgrade from the 1st ending though, because this time is only still pictures, which is a shame, this song deserved better. I'm also not sure how well this ending is going to fit what's happening in this arc, but let's see. Overall, this anime is killing it in the opening department, 2 openings and 2 endings that are really good, not many anime I have watched can say the same! |
| Why is Mikadono a more interesting and likable character than almost all of the cast when he's only just showed up and had like a minute of screentime? He's already a better rival character with a more interesting relationship with Shiki than Jin. |

| The writing in this show is just as bad as character designs. Two guys meeting eachother for the first time ever and immediately becoming best friends kinda feels unnatural, because they skipped several pages of the script. It also was beyond obvious, that the guy is Momotaro due to convenient writing. Also, that busty nurse looked awful and her only purpose in this episode was seemingly convey to the audience that Shiki is straight, because what we have seen in this episode looked kinda gay. I also dislike the not so subtle foreshadowing at the end. It's almost as if the guy knew who Shiki was. |

| It's kind of amazing how Tougen Anki proves you don't need to have a good story, interesting or likable characters, or even be well written. All you need is female characters with huge boobs to get attention, doesn't even matter if their designs are actually good. And they're not. |
