| As if their obsession with getting Western artists to do the OP/ED wasn’t enough, now they keep forcing this ugly CGI for the openings too. It’s even more frustrating this time because the song is actually good. Such a shame it got wasted on this show and these awful visuals. Thought it’d just be the OP stuck with that ugly CGI but nope, turns out the main show’s got it too. Which is wild because outside of that, the regular animation actually looks like an upgrade from season one... not that the bar was high to begin with lol. Anyways, as if we haven’t heard Kafka’s corny shounen dream enough already, they had to shove it in again, because ofc he’s the typical annoying MC who needs a quick power up to save the day. Except this time, it doesn’t even work? Damn Kafka, guess yelling your cheesy dream isn’t enough to level up. And just when you think it couldn’t get more annoying, an even worse character shows up on the battlefield... Kaiju No. 9. Oh, and that's it? That's the episode? Jesus, actually nothing happens in this show. OneRepublic back with another ED, and ngl, it ain't even bad compared to last seasons tbh. Like the visuals FARRRRR more than the OP's for sure. |

| A great collapse that suddenly attacked Shinagawa. Out of the hollow were countless giant ants. The 1st unit, to which Kafka and Kikoru belong, is set off, and under Narumi's direction, the men quickly tried to complete their mission. While Kikoru defeats the monsters one after another and produces the expected result, Kafka, who is under the watch of the defense, confronts the monster in order to prove his value...... and he tries to transform into kaiju to give these ants hell but wait he fails to transform and multiple Kaiju Number 9 has appeared, now Captain Narumi also being targeted. Let's see what happens in the next episode, can't wait to see it.. OP And ED Songs are so beautiful 🤩. Wow Radio broadcasting "Hoshi Night Show", really loving it.  |

| Well the first division might be the best of the best, but they’ve got their hands full with number 9 finally making his move. Like commander Shinomiya said, this is going to be the test of their generation, especially if Kafka can’t transform. I see why everyone loves Narumi man this dude is hilarious. Not him begging his subordinate for money so he can order more Amazon shit 😭 so relatable. The way he can go from silly otaku to badass Kaiju Hunter on a dime like that is dope. “Post captain Narumi is cool ten times” lmaoo, those kids are going to have quite the story to tell someday. Kikoru screen-time! Of course she’d come to Kafka’s aid when he’s struggling to transform, but damn it’s pretty hilarious that after hyping up Kafka and the first’s collaboration as the most consequential in history, the strongest division with the strongest Kaiju etc., he suddenly loses his powers and goes back to being a normal dude lmao. This episode flew by, can’t wait for next. Sound design has been amazing too. |

| At first I thought I accidentally put on episode 1 by mistake. But no, it is a different episode. The beginning was just very similar. I really like the new OP. So glad they kept the same style as the first OP. Narumi really asked for money from his subordinate... Dude has no shame. At least he's cool when he's killing kaijus Ig. Finally, some real kaiju action. But bruh, I didn't think Kafka would get cucked like that. It reminds me of Raimi's Spider-Man 2. Ig it kinda makes sense that he has a mental block. The dude recently went through so much stress. And after nearly killing Kikoru's dad he has started to doubt himself. His whole life turned upside down very fast. Hope he'll get through this block quickly. I wonder if the two Number 9s are separate entities or the same kaiju that has the ability to split itself. Probably the former. Anyway, I hope Kikoru will get her revenge. The ED was awesome too. But wth was that post-credits scene lol. A chibi show featuring Hoshina sounds a lot of fun. Reminds me of Ranger Reject's next episode preview scenes. |

| I knew it was too easy for the first division killing the Kaiju ants so easily as they were just buying time for Kaiju #9 to show up. The first division was also too sloppy in letting the Kaiju ant corpses just sit there for them to regenerate. Maybe Kikoru will slap Kafka out of his emotional trauma that is preventing him from transforming because he doesn't have the juice. |

| Hummmm. A sinkhole that ate several blocks, in a reality that every day/week a kaiju appear. What could that mean? Such mystery, better go there. What do you mean Kafka can't transform? You are saying the guy who had to fight a numbered Kaiju, then the strongest of the Defense Force dude in a brief interval (depleted). Chocked multiple times in the DF exams, and said that he will be executed if he can't prove himself, and probably didn't trained his transformation out of being shamed(emotional). | I don't get the "he can't transform because he is scared" one of the first things he said when he transformed in season 1 was "oh no so I won't be able to be a Defense Force officer?" I hope we get a better reasoning than that. |
| The images in this new OP are great; personally, I love how they use CGI, just like in the previous one. Hearing Aurora in the OP feels strange to me, but her voice fits perfectly with the opening's aesthetic. And the ED! OneRepublic hits the nail on the head again with another great song! The scene of Kafka swinging between buildings even reminded me of Spider-Man, especially with the music. Kaiju No. 9 is back and wreaking havoc... and it's still unclear why Kafka can't transform. Most likely, it's because of fear: he's afraid of losing control again. But, following shonen clichés, something critical is likely to happen that will trigger his transformation. Kikoru could have a lot of trouble against Kaiju No. 9, and things are even worse now that he can split himself. Narumi is already in the middle of all this, and that fight looks very promising. |

| Nice to see the OP visuals kept the same style as Season 1’s, and yeah OneRepublic nailed it again on the ED, it’s a different vibe than their first ED but I really like it. And we got some heavy action in this one after the relatively chill first episode, those folks looking deep into the hole and continuing to look even after seeing eyes had zero survival instincts lol, but thankfully the First Division arrived to the scene pretty quickly, half a second later and that little boy would have been gobbled up. Fights with the ant kaijus were fun, I especially enjoyed Kikoru popping off and flexing on Shinonome, but she seemed to be into that aspect of Kikoru’s lol. But of course these ants weren’t done after being taken down once, they all resurrected along with the appearance of not one, but TWO Kaiju No. 9s, not sure how that’s possible but maybe he could always split himself up like that lol. It’s just unfortunate that Kafka can’t seem to transform, it’s a bit annoying but I kinda get why he can’t, I think that encounter with Isao at the end of Season 1 still has him shook so he’s subconsciously stopping himself, I’m sure he’ll break out of it at some point during this battle but let’s hope Kikoru doesn’t get knocked around too much before then, otherwise I hope she and Narumi kick No. 9’s asses lol. Also, how on earth are there people saying nothing happened in this episode? That’s like being slapped in the face and saying you weren’t slapped lol, I don’t get it man. It is what it is tho, haters will hate, a tale as old as the Internet. |

| I think the big takaway from this episode is Kafka's mindset change after what happened with Isao. Reminds me of when Peter Parker lost his powers for a time in Spider-Man 2 after losing motivation and trying to focus on other things in his life. Kafka now has a mental block that isn't allowing him to transform. Enjoyed both the OP and ED too. Looks like they're continuing what they did with last season having the OP being a CGI trip. They also keep using western artists, which I'm not necessarily against. Both work here, just like last season. |

So now not only is the show doing the "can everyone trust Kafka?" trope, and the "can Kafka trust his powers?" trope, but now we're also doing the Kafka conveniently is incapable of transforming thing? So lame. Anyway, watching the intro got me thinking... Who the hell would be still living in Japan if massive sinkholes were opening up in cities and Kaiju were rampaging every week? The show is like the JAKDF is a thing because this is a normal occurrence, meanwhile at the beginning people are like wtf is happening? It's just an earthquake, right? I don't know man, it feels like it would be more likely that you're getting attacked by monsters than it being an earthquake at this point. |

We cannot assume he was there all the time, because he wouldnt let 'ask for money' scene happen. xp Okok we get more Narumi Gen this time, I appreciate. <3 Thoughts on opening sequence: I appreciate consistency with s01.
