I know what you're thinking: this show has been done before, and yes: combine MAPPA's TonDemo Isekai with the 30-year-old adventuring party show, and you'll get novelist Hifumi Asakura's series featuring a 40-year-old Isekai-ed salaryman selling and making money for ends meet.

For the 38-year-old Kenichi Hamada, being in another world means a learning curve to buy and purchase items from the Shangri-La online store to store in his item box, and the buy-and-sell tactic becomes his method of survival until he is being found by a travelling merchant and a songstress, on the way to the town of Dahlia. Though he pays with pure pepper and gets back change that's an amount bigger than he initially thought, trying to establish the world's pneumatics with the help of innkeeper Azalea may not be a breeze, but Kenichi's learning is at least capable.

The items from Kenichi's world are new to most people, and trying to be a merchant first and foremost reaps good rewards for selling clothespins. Even with a guy looking for a sword that comes with expensive costs, and then with beastfolk that got him scared for a moment, business is as per usual. Soon, Kenichi's clothespins are going around like rumors as his standard of living goes up, and the world at large, slowly dressing out in sequence.

Asaka's back for a hard rock OP? Not sure that I like it though...

Decent start, like with most Isekai, but the potential is yet to be seen. Feels like the premiere here is speed-running things though...

I overall enjoyed this first episode, but to be honest I'm torn on whether I should like the show on principal.

Firstly, this show is a rip-off of multiple tropes from previous isekais; the two biggest being that he's a middle-aged man and the second taking straight from Campfire Cooking in Another World with his online shopping ability. This seems a little bit lazy in attempting to add a twist to the show, even by trash-isekai standards.

Secondly, a small thing that I just found weird was they imply he gets laid by the first girl he talks to. There wasn't really any reason to add it and I'm not sure whether to chalk it up to "this world is more laid back on those things" or "the author wanted to add sex". Also right before it happens he even says "Don't bother with an old guy like me. I'm old enough to be your father." Which made it all the more weird in my eyes.

Overall the show feels like it might be a laid back slice of life with some good vibes. However, the BIG question is whether or not this trash-isekai can actually progress the story in any meaningful way. That's the biggest hurdle these types of shows have to overcome to make it high on my lists.

It's nice that they skipped all the isekai explanation but the first few minutes were still very dull. Things got interesting later though. So basically shop stuff from og world and sell here for a profit. It's basically how importing/exporting works. Now the real mystery is how Azalea rewarded him, I wonder. It's always a nice change of pace from the usual teen romance tropes in isekai harem animes. Not a bad first episode for me personally, I mean I generally enjoy most isekai unless they are downright garbage or bland. OP song's pretty nice too.

EP 1

Honestly all things considered a pretty decent first ep
Better than expected
About the only downside is that we dont really get to see much of the other characters
Otherwise its fine
The real question is how the rest of the elements (mainly monsters) are going to be handled
And how it will keep things interesting
Seems like its listed for 13 eps?
And the characters really that we havent seen yet

Nice nice. They zoomeg through the whole isekai first episode thingy but not bad. Uhhhh, felt a bit rushed for a first episode but it's fine. And yes, he definitely did Azalea. It was more explicit in the manga so W I guess. Lol.
Looking forward to more girls and that little obnoxious princess.

The ''problem'' with this anime is if the protagonist keeps mentioning he's 40 years old and saying women are young enough to be his daughters, it’s just awkward, man!! Just go for it without bringing it up (problem solved) and it’d be easier to ignore LOL. But it seems like there’s going to be a controversial "pedo" part, but what can you do, right? Japanese people like that stuff LOL.

The first episode was excellent, comparing with the first chapter of the manga, you can certainly complain that somehow everything is too fast, but to me it looks quite normal, and added details, such as the female bard, which shows that the inventory is not exclusive, and there are as well in other people goes adaptation only in plus. About the sex scene can be said that censored, but in the manga just prelude, in the form of doubts of the hero just lasted longer, and naked scene was not, or rather was, but a black shadow, so consider and was not. The manga is finished, they'll probably adapt the whole thing considering how small the chapters are.

Wow! The first episode left a good impression. The quality might not be top-notch, and the story isn’t groundbreaking, but this show has a unique charm.

Both the MC and the inn girl exude a likable personality that makes me curious about their everyday lives. Plus, the old woman by whose stall the MC sets up shop adds a quaint touch to the setting.

I have a feeling this show will be enjoyable, and I’m eagerly anticipating the upcoming episodes.

It was funny how they fast forwarded with the intro, they know you can only retell the same origin story only so many times but this one was rather different, MC was retired isntead of dead right? having MC get laid was also a big surprise, those are rare in the genre.

@IhnalakoKaina Glad to hear it might get better. The "on principal" part was entirely revolving around the gimmicks of the show like he's middle-aged and has an online grocery. But I'll still be watching it as trash-isekais are a guilty pleasure of mine.

I'm super glad to hear about the tavern girl not being a repeated thing. I was praying this wouldn't end up being a repeat of something like Re:Monster lmao.

I didn't like the first minute just zooming through the getting isekai'd part.
Fortunately, the rest of the episode was as good as I was hoping for: pretty interesting, with lots of colorful characters and fun interactions.
Also loved the OP at the end.

While the plot isn't completely original (see 'campfire cooking in another world'), it seems to be a really solid version of it, and I like what I'm seeing so far :)

so here we are going to follow an old man making a remark about his age in each episode but ending up fucking young girls? Why not just kiss her without making any comments about her age first, or make her say lines like "you're my daughter's age" and then fuck her?

Loved the way they mater o' fact blitzed through the isekai and world introduction stuff.

I know those candies that they showed. I typically get a bag of them for a candy bowl at Christmas time.

Candy and a sketch for winning a girl! Good to know, but to bad I can't draw for f!ck.

From the ED it looks like he will collect quite the crew and harem.

I had not intention of watching this up until seeing a little excerpt on youtube an hour ago.

i already know i am genuinely going to enjoy this anime! i really like the business aspect of it and him adapting to a new world so quickly. i mean as soon as he got "isekai'd" he said "status open" like he already knew what was going on. he adapted so quickly he learned how to read and write in their language and got laid, all in 1 day.

Did mc and Azalea have seggs?

Great premise, bad start because there's no summoning and isekai intro. He just died and suddenly he can use his item box.

Good thing it got better in the latter part of the episode.

Good beginning episode! Kenichi is a self-made man. Azalea may be the first to prove... No ecchi, but animation and art should be of better quality for good ecchi; so, no problem -- yet. Did I write animation and art should be better? Such would make the series more entertaining... and ecchi even more desirable -- Azalea is pretty; nude Azalea would be even prettier...

What a ridiculously compressed introduction! I nearly dropped it then and there with that infodump-on-amphetamines, but steeled my resolve to see the whole thing. The rest of it was similar to the "outdoor cooking in another world" anime with the "online shopping + RPG world" shtick but it lacks charm to go with its borrowed strangeness. It's also fairly simple-minded for being seinen. I'll come back next week in the hopes that it's less unimpressive.

On the fence yet again. I'll give it 3 Episodes. I did like that he questioned how the Online ordering thing worked & what he was eventually going to have to REALLY pay for all that merchandise. Mountain bike was a good choice, but don't let anyone see you riding it.
Also, order weapons BEFORE you need to use them. I mean that should be obvious, but maybe being raised in Modern Japan, he doesn't think like this typical American mind of mine who would invest in self-defense! LOL

@LordCrueltyV Too bad they forgot to add the Azalea scene that was apparently in the Manga. Thumbs down for making the story bland, more spice definitely needed. Generic Isekai, watchable, but at the moment nothing memorable, the one where the girl exploits her modern knowledge to make gold was better. I'll wait & see if it improves.
btw, yeah use to get those hard candies at Xmas all the time. LOL

This skipped over all the usually isekai beginning moments, to get straight to the selling things from his online store.

So the anime has a quick but relaxed flow, which is interesting.

@FallNatsukashii I can understand what you mean, however...

First point, all media is influenced by media that came before them, so having a 'surface level similarity' to anime that debuted before, shouldn't stop you from liking this one, especially if they use it in a different capacity than that other show. As you said, it is how they present the main story that really matters. If they present a good main story that is written well, then the "online store" is not a big deal to have. If they don't, then you know that using the "online store" was just a gimmick to tap into the similar familiar anime ideas.

Second point, yeah, it was kinda presented weirdly, with the whole "I'm old enough to be your father" line, but she didn't seem too young, as to be inappropriate, and she obviously didn't care about how old he was (I am not against old + young adult relationships). Also, she was maneuvering to gain a merchant friend, who might be successful and make money, which could benefit her own situation, so she is being very friendly and kinda pushing herself on him, for her goal of influencing him. She was especially excited after eating what she said is a thing the nobles would take from her, the candy in that nice box, and also seeing his artistic skills. I do appreciate that they didn't show anything, it wasn't necessary, just implying it was enough for the adults to know, but this would go right over the kids' heads.
