Kizuna knows her dress styles with her giving Raphtalia makeovers. It turns out, this finale was pretty lighthearted with characters reminisicing their adventures.

Looks like we got to know more about Yomogi as well. It's too bad Kyo turned out to be such as an ass cause she apparently enjoyed being friends with him. I thought episode was cute but eh, could've fit more as an OVA. Season 2 ends but journey is far from over!

So the final episode of Season 2...is pretty much a filler episode after what is supposed to be the actual finale to give a close to seasonal events post-finale.

Naofumi and gang finally having a moment of rest, with Kizuna dressing the girls up and Naofumi being the dense one for good reason. Filo trying to fly with the carriage behind her, and it's hard because she isn't in their original world.

Kizuna's time in the Infinite Labyrinth certainly is the same how Naofumi and gang first entered and wanting to find a way out...but being more relaxed, learning of its properties, and eating the same variety of food that's available with more experimentation, before their eventual arrival. It's the same for Yomogi whom tried to remember her young and good times with Kyo before he went all berserk, he was her world that she had admired him for all his work.

Going back to the girls' talk about mating and such, it definitely feels weird telling the same thing to people that they interpret differently, but it's for Ost Hourai's remembrance, her soul sealed to the Spirit Tortoise in recollection.

The haphazard Season 2 has seen its shares of ups and downs, and this was a tumultuous ride.
Here's hoping that Season 3 will be better, even if it's by a short mile.

You know the production committee themselves wanted to fail this season so badly that they even went as far as giving us One-hundred ways to make Naofumi fall to Kizuna’s trick of solo camping over those many years as a final episode. I mean why… y’all should’ve concluded this season in that penultimate episode itself. Maybe would’ve taken this episode as a decent conclusion if it wasn’t for those constant 20 odd disappointing minutes over the course of the last 12 weeks.

And to think this season was so highly anticipated.

Kizuna went somewhat insane that she ended up creating her own Wilson.

This episode feels like it would have fit better as an OVA, rather than the final episode of the second series.

I kind of hope that Filo finds a way for her to be able to fly as a filolial.

Onwards to series 3!

this ep was good, because it's the last one. I'm not kidding, since ep 12 was a very bad season finale. So it was good to see new scenes (I didn't even want to see it, because I thought it was a recap, but I think ep 13 would be classified as an OVA). I just didn't like the continuation of the "Raphatalia's naivety" joke. I noticed that the art is similar to the first season, but in an improved way.
I would like to say the changes, which should be made for the next season:
-Don't outsource production to a small studio;
-Choose a director who has an affinity for both fights and dramas;
-Reliably follow LN with the addition of content cut from S2.
this is my request.I hope to see the third season...

So we got a proper epilogue episode to end this season. The girls looked cute in swimsuit. Felt bad for Kizuna but glad she was able to endure it. Also once again, RIP Ost. She was a great woman.

This season was okay but hopefully s3 will be better. Looking forward to it.

Man I just can't get over how cute Raph-chan is with it's cute little Raph noises.

And look at smol Raphtalia all dressed up, so cute.

But Kizuna calling Naofumi a lolicon lmao.

Bro look at Raph-chan joining his smol little hands together AAAA so cute

Bruh who taught Filo the concept of mating.

Pretty good episode overall, a lot better than previous episodes. 5/5. This had the ending season feels too, liked it. Hoping Season 3 is at least better than this season. Those illustratiosn would make for good wallpapers but the illustrator watermark ruins it.

7/10 overall because of my emotional attachment to this anime and it's characters which was possible due to Season 1, otherwise I wouldn't rate this more than 5.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.

Ep 13 felt more like an OVA or optional special episode. Purely side story. At least for me the real finale was episode 12.

All in all quite a letdown season 2. Most of the time the story felt rushed and just not that interesting. But since hearing from LN readers that this content wasn't too great in the LN either, i hope that future Seasons become better again. S3 seems to air in fall this year already. Nice.

Loved the Ost flashback en route to her "grave", the epilogue vibes were real

But the clothes shop scene felt too forced of a fanservice. Kizuna's first moments trapped in the Labyrinth was much needed but in the finale? ehhhh

An interesting way to end this second season. Filling in some of the blanks left along the way with Kizuna, Ost and Yomogi getting more moments of characterization. Probably should've had these moments in chronological order and not shoved to the back but whatever. Overall to say this season was a mess would be putting it lightly. They shoved two long arcs into a single one cour season when each arc should've been its own cour. Nevertheless I still very much enjoyed this season simply for the characters. I've said before that character writing is the number one reason a story can make or break for me. Despite the weird narrative of this second season I still loved seeing these characters animated again. Naofumi is one of my top three isekai protagonists of all time along with Raphtalia being a top tier isekai character of mine. So simply having more of of them in anime form is enough to make me happy. New additions like Ost, Kizuna, Yomogi, and Rishia getting more spotlight made it even better seeing the anime. Making this all kinda a toss up, in my opinion the positives and negatives even each other out. Meaning that the final determination comes down to enjoyment which of course I enjoyed this season. No matter what is done with the story itself being made all wonky I would still enjoy it because of the characters. Naofumi realizing he doesn't need some grand purpose to be a hero and that he doesn't need to fight for justice or whatever he just needs to do the right thing. I love that message, Ost helping him along the way was nice. Kyo made a crazy as hell villain whom chewed up screen time every moment he was there. No matter what I'm excited for the next season when we get it.

I'm honestly just lost for fucking words. This whole season was rushed as hell and they wasted their thirteenth episode on filler flashbacks instead of pacing the rest of the season better.

If they wanted to make them laying flowers at Ost's grave impactful, they could at least make the other two flashbacks about her. But this show is just juggling far too many characters, so none of them leave a lasting impression.

This season was only bearable because I watched 1 episode a week, no way I would force myself to binge it. Will probably be skipping out on a third season unless it gets positive reviews.

I wonder why we were getting these flashbacks? Why didn't they just merge those scenes somewhere in the first 4 episodes. Or the one with Kizuna's when she escaped the labyrinth? Regardless, the content wasn't bad at all.

I'm... disappointed, and I just hope that Season 3 gets the time and animation and energy that it truly deserves to shine. This really felt more like an OVA than a proper season ending, and honestly, to me, it just continued to show how much of a mess this season was...

There really was no impact to leaving flowers for Ost because I didn't really care about her (because the show didn't give me the time to care about her), so maybe this episode was different for some of you? Still, I did like the fanservice time the party spent just talking and reminiscing, it reminded me of Season 1 in a lot of ways. I really missed when they spent time on showing the journey, instead of teleporting the party from place to place in service of the plot. Also, Raphtalia too precious.

Learning more about Kizuna's time in the labyrinth was great (she's so sweet), and again, it just makes me wish we had had more time to spend on things like that, while just being able to go more in depth with the plot as well. This really just felt like stuff that should have been interspersed throughout a longer season, slapped together just to be able to call it a "finale". Again, it just felt like we were speeding from point to point to get the episode (and the season-) over with. I know I sound like a broken record by now, but god this season was just so rushed- the animation quality, the story, and the character moments were all such a huge drop in quality from Season 1. I'm literally begging for a decent 25-episode Season 3, but I won't hold my breath. I don't know who decided to cram all of this into 13 episodes, but Season 2 clearly suffered on so many levels for it; it's really unfortunate.

Tate no Yuusha really deserves better than this.

I thought they would at least give us some idea about where naofumi's gang will be headed in the next season, but instead we got an aimless and somewhat inappropriately lewd ova in the final episode. Smart move. Also they visited Ost grave for some reason, reminding me once again of the awful turtle arc that I tried hard to forget. What an episode. What a season that was.

A recollection of memories from this season's events.

She had a ball...and I just shouted "Wilson!" in my mind when I saw it even though I haven't seen Cast Away in it's entirety yet.

Just 6/10 for me. IMHO the Tortoise Arc was terrible, the Other World was just a bit better.

Ah, so there really was an episode 13 afterall. And while it was all just recollections of previously unseen past events from the season, at least it wasn't literally just reused clips like I thought it might be. Still, I question the need for this episode when the time it took might have been better spent during that lackluster final battle. If the intent was to end the season at Ost's grave they still could have done that while making that fight better. Oh well, my thoughts remain more or less unchanged from what I wrote in the episode 12 thread. 6/10

Oh, and Tom Hanks and the Cast Away people need to sue or something. XD

Kizuna has been one of my favorite characters this season. She really had Naofumi figured out huh? Dense as a rock and a lolicon? I mean…accurate lol. Kind of, anyways.

I liked that we got to see what life was like for Kizuna on the island. I think she would enjoy solo camping a little more with a cup of curry noodles lol.

Anyways, I could kind of relate to her feelings of desperation while being trapped on that island, having just lived through a couple months in pretty harsh lockdown conditions recently. I never contemplated suicide, but there were days when things kind of got bleak. Well, at least for her she had Wilson to keep her company lol. I’m glad ultimately she made it through. She’s got a strong mind, that one.

Raphtalia can really be quite innocent, it’s pretty adorable. Wasn’t expecting her to ask Ost about the birds and the bees haha. You see Raphtalia, when a man loves a woman… lol. Seeing Rishia’s face during that whole exchange was pretty hilarious! I didn’t think Filo would be so quick to get it though. Clever girl! Lol. That whole bit was also a nice moment to remember Ost by. I liked her too.

All in all, I enjoyed this season. I might be one of the only few people that didn’t mind the Spirit Tortoise arc. It wasn’t phenomenal and it was pretty slow paced but ultimately I didn’t mind it. This was a nice little filler ep before the new season. Looking forward to what new adventures await the gang.

What a beautiful view. Looks like Filo's still trying to get used to being back in her old form lol. Its an unusual way of addressing flashbacks but using their memories of happier times after resolving the crisis is a creative move. The dressing up sure was fun. But the insight into Kizuna's days within the labyrinth sure was insightful. Trapped in such a place must have been daunting. Before going off the rails im sure Kyo was a decent person. Ost's advice was so damm funny. The bringing of flowers to Osts final resting place was a nice moment to reflect on how much she helped them until the end. Remembering all the fun times they had with their friends as well as remembering those that gave their lives to help you achieve victory is the highest honor you can bestow upon them. Overall an excellent end to the season that focused on remembering all those that have helped you get so far. Ost's spirit turning up to give a final farewell was a nice touch.

The final episode was mainly a nice recollection of stories being reminisced on which were amusing. The first part with Kizuna helping Naofumi's group getting new clothing ended up with them wearing many things Since Kizuna noticed how much smol Raphtalia was looking at Naofumi while in the shop. Hearing her say that Naofumi was a lolicon made me laugh, though. XD

The clothes that the girls tried out was pretty nice, although having the three of them wearing bikinis was an obvious highlight for me, with Kizuna especially looking rather stunning in her black bikini while pulling a seductive pose. =3

Speaking of Kizuna, we finally got to see how she had to live by herself when she was first thrown into the labyrinth. She handled it well at first, but being alone for so long without knowing a way out drove her a bit mad, almost to the point of hanging herself. Thankfully, she dug deep and held on, which did pay off for her when Naofumi's group arrived and the rest, as we know, was history. Kizuna was the character I liked and enjoyed the most from this season and I do hope we'll get to see her again someday. ^_^

We also got a short recollection of Ost telling Raphtalia about what it means to be intimate, which Filo understood the meaning better than Raphtalia, which made for some good laughs. It was also a nice to have Naofumi's group head to the location overlooking where the spirit tortoise was killed and used it to through a bouquet of flowers in memory of Ost, which was rather sweet.

Overall, season 2 of Shield Hero gave me that sense of deja vu that A Certain Magical Index S3, in where the pacing was rushed too often and the production values were all over the place. That's why I'll settle for the same score I gave to Index S3, a 6/10. It was decent, but it could've been better at the same time. Here's hoping that Shield Hero S3 gets things back on track for the franchise. =)
