----------------------------------------
Tonari's character and personality is starting to grown to me this arc. Her loyalty and cleverness is not to be overlooked. Parona also showed a lot of courage in that arena.

Not surprised to see Fushi taking action of his own. He and Tonari makes a surprisingly decent pair when working on the same page. Watching all these guys taking on that monster together feels like watching a boss fight.

The miracle in the arena: Fushi shapeshifting to Parona, and progressing further in the tournament for freedom. Yet The Beholder is not surprised, while Tonari is.

The cunning girl whom never gives up on Fushi, yet by her two hands that led both him and Pioran to their imprisonment, there's no trusting her with words, but with action. By shapeshifting into a mole and getting right into the heart of the prison, Fushi's one step closer to ensuring her prison break, even if her history being a criminal is karma being served, but now a bit too risky.

Going deep into the tournament, and with more stronger enemies, dives deep into death territory which displeases the audience all the more. Good thing that his opponent is still alive, and bears the same dream as Fushi does for pride.

Not surprised that the Jananda citizens will come after Fushi who ridicules the existence of the tournament...and the Nokker has shown itself once again to the fascination of Tonari. Fushi is more than capable in this battle than he was once before, and the Jananda citizens lend their cooperation aid as much as they could to help Fushi buy some time to defeat the Nokker, now that's a surprise.

For the first time, a Nokker is defeated without incurring death, that's a new high for Fushi with new forged bonds.

Fushi putting up with tonari is jokes, would've chucked her away by now lol. This episode is more focused on whether taking life is good or not, interesting topic for sure but they got sidetracked from that lol. I get the POV of the residents though, their entertainment is being ruined by an immortal but kiling someone shouldn't really be celebreated of common place like that, but I do have the POV of a modern day human lol.

The nokker fight was great, showing how fushi needs to start to gain more forms and especially more weapons, as without those exploding arrows plus parona's archery skill he would've been stuffed in that fight. I guess the god guy was correct in saying fushi needs to get out more lol

Is it? I just checked Crunchyroll not five minutes ago and only the first two episodes are showing up for me. Is it on Funimation or something where the releases are faster?

FWIW, I'm enjoying it a lot so far, it's almost like a mix of Gantz and I'm Standing On A Million Lives, but different enough that it's not trite or rehashing them. The battles are really interesting and I am looking forward to the world-building and finding out more of what's behind the "death game"!
Wrong episode? Think you're talking about battle game in 5 seconds lol

Yep, someone made a post about Battle In Five Seconds episode 3, but by the time I finished my post either the mods or OP had deleted the topic, and for some reason it posted it in this topic (even though I don't follow this show afaik.) Pretty weird; anyway that's why I deleted the post. I didn't think anyone could even quote it after it's been deleted, but I guess you learn something new every day!

Anyway, appreciate the sentiment, so thanks!

Fushi still can't believe that Parona has died. She died really young. Well, I guess Fushi has to move on now. We also got to learn more about the Toanri girl and Fushi still is stuck at saving Pioran even tho she told him to leave the island without her. I understand why. Fushi also made some new friends.

The Nokkers are here again but this time around Fushi isn't alone. He managed to defeat it with the help of the kids and the people on that island and got his memories of March and Gugu back.

So Parona really did die, huh... That's pretty sad, I liked her quite a bit so I was hoping she was still alive somehow.

Somehow the fights in this episode felt a bit weird compared to the other ones. Maybe the animation? Pace? I don't really know.

I still don't like Tonari. I wish she lied less and was more straight-forward. She did help Fushi by not running away, and even teached him about "teamwork", but her recklessness was pretty dumb.

Fushi not only retrieved his other forms, but now he has a better bow and exploding arrows. The more weapons available, the better it will be in the future, so I'm looking forward to seeing how he'll use them.

So he finally fights his long-time enemy in the next episode, huh? Will he finally kill someone of his own free will? Will he still forgive her in the end? What does she want with Fushi after all this time? I'm really hyped up for the next episodes, not that it hasn't been like that since the start of the anime.

I ended up not reading the manga this past week but I might do it soon.

This girl is extremely annoying, Jesus.

And the action doesn't work in Fumetsu, they should drop it and keep trying to be emotional.

Can't we just reboot and bring back Gugu?

Tonari has a good character and i think she has a reason why she so is, the next episode more about her past.

More Arrow is better than one thats true, they all fight together and defeated the nokker. I hope parona is not dead but idk.
Glad that nobody dies and parona bow skills was nice, im hype for next week episode.

It's good that Fushi win but I'm concern that he can't win alone anymore, this time it takes a whole islanders to win against Nokker. I can't imagine how much stronger is the next version of Nokker. Fushi needs to gain even more strength, but it seems to me that he's more concern of morality.

Every ep, Fushi’s growth continues to improve me. When he told Tonari to stop talking out her ass, not only was it hilarious, but also just made me think back on when he didn’t even know how to eat. Now he’s able to read people and know when they’re lying. Incredible. Tonari is a cool character and I can’t wait to see her continue to develop.

So, it's confirmed that Parona is dead. Tonari seems to really want Fushi to like her but, she does have that occasional deviousness to get Fushi to do things. Well, shit, the Nokkers are back, and hey, this time we got a whole group fighting. Zero casualties during the battle, a great victory for Fushi!

I'm disgusted with all forms of media making subtle suggestions that committing unlawful acts is acceptable because their circumstances and situation warrants it. The message of most stories today is that it's ok to do whatever you want as long as you have a compelling backstory. This is not a good message in any shape or form. It diminishes a person's ethical standpoint, devalues morality while it normalizes lawlessness.
"Manga readers are annoying, all they do is complain or spoil the anime we discuss in an anime forum.
They should really do their whining at manga forums.

For me it seemed, that they ran out of time for this episode, because in many of the action-scenes they used very many cuts, to lower the amount of animated scenes. IMO the fight in the arena looked pretty cheap without some fluent moves. But storywise it was flawless as always.

You are on an island of killers and criminals, did you expect her to be an angel like Machi

Considering Fushis's previous associations, Tonari literally comes from a criminal background so expecting her to not be remotely opportunistic would probably be a very anime thing.

I had a seizure reading that. Her sole purpose in this arc is to act as an all encompassing character that represents the islands perceived selfish and flawed residents, she needs to be an arse so that Fushi can learn from her flawed reasoning hence helping him understand the human condition more and push him forward to be more understanding of people. She needs to be shit and she needs to have a reason but she's so unapologetic it hurts, but that's just her character, nobody is expecting a saint and they are perfectly entitled to hate her without needing to "grow up" because it is her job as a character to be provocative.

Yes, Fuchi, if he wants to grow up, he must learn everything. And to get to know different types of people, not just the angelic type

I didn't expect the Nokkers to strike again, as the loss of Gugu was only 4 episodes before (well I binge watched around 7-8 episodes in the last couple of days, so it feels very close in time).

Though the whole island didn't run away and delivered a fight even the Nokkers couldn't expect. I guess they'll come back under another form, since the stone one already showed its weaknesses. Feels good for Fushi to retrieve both Gugu & March's memories/forms !

Yeah still despise Tonari. I don't trust her as far as I could throw... well the big dude that hangs around them. Was hoping the Nokkers would kill her (though obviously that wouldn't happen at this point).

Sad that I was apparently wrong about Fushi learning to transform without someone dying. Figured they just wouldn't kill a character off screen like that. Pretty messed up, but probably has something to do with why crazy cult lady is back in the story.

True, but you could also say that her job as a character is to evoke empathy since, you know, she's a kid who was robbed of her childhood and is doing her best to survive in an island where death lurks in every corner, despite the fact that she's on the verge of breaking down. It's kinda telling when people wish death on a character like her.

By the way, I'm not necessarily talking about the comments here. Those are tame. It's the people on twitter that worry me.

got no sympathy until I see the backstory, even then I don't think ill be able to 100% forgive her actions, I mean she did rope in an incent person into this mess and his friend and show little remorse, I cant really think of anything to justify that. And I didn't mean empathy I meant understanding, you don't have to sympathize with someone to understand their predicament. Who knows what will happen though, this show has been 10/10 up until this character so I'm interested what they have to say about her as they've gone out of their way to make her irritating.

One thing that struck me this episode was how God told Fushi to quickly switch back to the boy so he wouldn't lose Gugu's form to the Nokkers. That was probably strategic advice, but also I like to believe he didn't want Fushi to lose Gugu's memories.

Yeah, it's pretty amazing how they've managed to add more and more depth to Fushi each episode. He's not just mimicking what he's seen other people do and say, he's got his own opinions and critical thinking, and that is great.

Yeah, that smile that she shows every time she feels sad or desperate. Fills me with dread every time.

Also I'm using the pronoun "he" for Fushi from now on, because they chose the boy for his inner voice, which seems to imply that that's the closest form to Fushi's own self. Which makes sense, it's the form he's spent most time as (well technically that'd be the rock but he doesn't really have conscious memories of that).

I like Tonari's group but not Tonari herself. I'm hoping she will grow on me and become more tolerable as this arc seems to be the last arc for this season (fingers crossed for a second season!), but if the same fate meets her like every other bond Fushi has made and she makes no character development, I don't think I'll be that sad.
