Jin-Roh is a favorite of mine. Eve no Jikan or Castle in the Sky would be second.

i really like umm.. tekkon kinkreet, dead leaves, redline ..

big fan of in this corner of the world. probably my favorite newest one.

i liked silent voice and your name but i wouldn't say they are my favorite anime movie. far from it.

sword of the stranger is really good but i have a hard time saying yeah it can compete with the other ones i mentioned.
in MY eyes anyways.

a lot of people might look at dead leaves and say "what"?

I watched it when it came out, well before Kill la Kill and Gurren Lagann were even a thought. This was Imaishi making the magic that we now know as Trigger today.

I can understand someone watching it now and being like meh. but...it will remain one of my favorite anime movies for the rest of time.

favorite anime movie i owned on vhs was armitage III lol meaning favorite anime movie i watched during the 90s. and yes i liked it better than akira and ninja scroll

It's not considered "anime" by MAL standards, but The Red Turtle was awesome.
There is no dialogue so no need for translation (dub or sub), and it can be understood/enjoyed by young and old alike.

If I'm being limited to anime according to MAL, then I'd go with NGNL Zero for a franchise movie, or Garden of Words for stand-alone.
Both told a good story, IMO, and are re-watch candidates in my book.

You're never too old to watch anime.
If I ever stop watching anime, check my pulse I'm likely dead.

I wake up with coffee & anime, I go to sleep with coffee & anime.

Sorry if my sarcasm is bad, it's not my first language.

Admittedly, i haven't watched a whole lot of anime movies; but The End of Evangelion is my favorite one by far.
I'd even include it in my Top 10 favorite movies in general (including live-action films).

-Card Captor Sakura Movie 2: The Sealed Card
-No Game No Life: Zero

Stand-alone Movies:
-Kimi no Na wa.
-Kotonoha no Niwa

Tekkon Kinkreet is still my favorite.

Curiosities. Besides Akira, Katsuhiro Otomo was involved in the short "Buki yo Saraba", which is fantastic (part of a compilation movie).

I think I should also mention Ponyo and Ghost in the Shell.

paprika I guess

the visual impact and mood is strong enough to overpower the plot itself
its the only movie that impresses me at an adult

ghibli movies are quite an enjoyment when I was little but Ive grown cynical
and found them quite naive for me to rewatch

Of course Kimi no Na Wa/Your Name and Koe no Katachi/A Silent Voices will come if you said anime movies. Also Kotonoha no Niwa (same director and studio as Kimi no Na wa/Your Name) is very beautiful, in conpare of Kimi no Na Wa.

And if it comes to franchise. I will say All Detective Conan movies. I watched all 21 movies until now and more enjoyed it than watch the anime series.

Princess Mononoke, has been my favorite for a decade now and it never gets old no matter how many times I watch it.
Also Kimi no Na wa was awesome.

But talking about franchise then my favorite anime movie is Kara no Kyoukai 7, great movie with a great soundtrack and animation.
