I had a conversation with my friend since he saw the poster for Heart Gold and Soul Silver @ Game Stop. And im planning to get Heart Gold 1st then Soul Silver. But my friend likes Soul Silver more.

So in your opinion, which version do you like better?

Edit: Since now most ppl in the world have the game available in their region i guess ill turn it to a discussion thread.

Separating the same game into two different games is nothing but a ridiculous profit strategy. I don't really get why anyone would want to buy both when they're pretty much the samething. People don't actually take the "gotta catch em all" seriously, right? Right? (And even so, they could just trade pokemon from earlier games instead of catching the few exclusives.) And none of the exclusives are particularly good, except maybe Gliscor, Arcanine, and Skarmory.

But if I had to choose, I guess Gold so I can see Kyogre instead of Groudon.

;w;

But in my defence, I did have the money to spare. And I likely wouldn't have bought these two anyways, seeing how I could just get the other ones from other games, like you said. I've already caught them all, just not in a single game yet. But who cares.

Went with Silver back in the day when it was on the GBC, so I guess I might as well stick with it for the new games too.

Soul Silver. I'm so psyched for this, Pokemon Silver was my favorite game in the series, and I spent a LOT of my free childhood playing it. Hearing about the re-release made me one of the happiest people on earth.

Im curious to whether these two games are a newer version of pokemon gold & silver.
Are they?

I better go looking for my R4 cartridge anyway...along with my long untouched DS.

If I ever change my mind about getting the remake, I'll probably wait until they release the "whatever" Crystal remake.
I'm pretty sure they won't, as HG and SS includes all the changes that Crystal had, plus they didn't make a remake of Yellow after FR and LG.

I have both. I'd say SoulSilver is better because it has better "version exclusive" pokemon.

I just wish that the stantler sprite wasn't so ugly though, because I really wanted a stantler on my team and I hate looking at it now. Something about it just doesn't seem right... Like it's disproportionate.

Anyway, I'm getting SoulSilver, since, of course, Lugia is one of my favorite Pokemon.

Yes, Heart Gold and Soul Silver are remakes of the original Gold/Silver but with the latest game mechanics and a bunch of new content/3rd and 4th gen pokemon added in. Makes me wonder if they'll be doing a Crystal remake...

I got Gold when it came out... so this time, I think I'll be going for Soul Silver.

I wonder if they can do a revamp of the old school Red and Blue games. Not really a fan of the newer "generations".

They already did that. Fire Red and Leaf Green. Although it does contain pokemon from the later generations in it as well.

Personally, i didn't like the remake of the originals. It was idk very plain to me with little new features.

HeartGold.

Why? I remember the good ol' days of my youth when I imported pokemon Gold and it was all in japanese. I had a hellluva time trying to understand what I was supposed to do. But I eventually even beat Red.

This was back when pokemon was the shit, I was the coolest kid on the block with that game. (mostly becasue the game wasn't even out in the states yet)

And heartgold specifically because i like ho-oh better and that was the first legendary shown in the TV series.

This.

Though, my boyfriend will be getting SoulSilver in English when it comes out in April, so I dunno if I should bother getting it too.

I got the original Gold first, so I figured I'd get HeartGold too. Also, Gold is a warmer colour and at the time I bought it I was pretty depressed, so it sound weird, but it really cheered me up. That and the fact it was Pokemon :P

It's coming out in March, not April. :P (or where I'm from anyway). Anyways, I'm going to be going with Soulsilver, I already played HeartGold on my computer. :P. There are patches from them in English for DS Emulators for those who want to try either one of them.
Pretty fun game.

Well, considering HG/SS feature the old region with the gyms and all, plus the added bonuses of being able to catch the birds and Mewtwo, as well as having a chance to get the first starters, I guess that's as far as you'll come.

Most likely getting both.

My brother usually buys one version, and I get the other. Last release, he got Diamond and I got Pearl, so I suppose I'll opt for Soul Silver, and make him buy Heart Gold.

And yes, we want to catch them all.

As do I but it's nearly impossible with all those legendaries they release only at special places.

I think the only Gen in which it is actually possible to catch them all is the first gen. You can catch Mew through a glitch and the rest with all the other versions.
