I find this quite true as well, at least displayed in anime. Because of the commonly used seme and uke for yaoi, its pretty common to have forceful content while yuri tends to follow the path of being pure. | My personal opinion is Yuri is usually a thing you find in a few animes and all over doujin sites, however it isn't really common unless you look for it. Yaoi on the other hand, is something I take a turn into a wrong fandom (lets say something like DRRR!! or Black Butler, where I like the series) and want to talk about the plot and characters and end up getting yaoi shippings forced down my throat by easily triggered fujoshis. Which is unpleasent. I have nothing against Shonen-ai anime, however I've had the concept of yaoi shipping ruined for me so whenever I see someone say the word I get a bit annoyed. |
