| I actually disagree, I've been on several forum sites and I think mal is among the better ones. Yes people joke in threads with serious topics, but I've been in absolute cesspool forum sites were starting a thread about almost anything can get people to spew negativity. No sense of community either. Mal threads arnt totally serious and certainly have their fair share of heated arguments and bigotry but it's the only forum + community I've enjoyed staying with for years and still my go-to forum when I'm bored even if I don't always post I read them all the time. |

I'd also argue that due to the forum layout and the way the rules work, actual anime discussion outside of popular new releases is almost impossible to do, and this being a popular anime website, people still come here in search of things to talk about. Because of this, really bad posts on AD and CD are a thing and Forum Games are so popular. Plus, being an anime website, naturally this site has a fairly young userbase, with most users probably being in their teens, and that could probably cause a fair bit of it. |

| I must agree that MAL isn't so bad. The moderation is very decent and there're people that sometimes do not troll. The conversation usually maintains some semblance of politeness. There're plenty of places that are infinitely more cancerous. |
