| I have nothing against mainstream anime. For the most part I watch mostly lesser known anime because there's a lot more of them and it even feels weird to me when I'm watching an anime that has a dub that I'm not taking advantage of. |

| What counts as mainstream, OP? I avoid anime like the big three because they're too long but shorter popular anime like K-On, Angel Beats, Tokyo Ghoul, ect. I will watch just to see what the hype is all about. |

| When people say 'mainstream' they mean a 'hit show' right>? Hit shows are hits for a reason - They're usualy good! Who would have thought? But yes, in this back to front world there probably are people who are too snobby to engage in anything as mundane and tedius as a good hit show. Much cooler to wax lyrical about some manga no ones heard of. 100 bownie points for the tardest manga-tard! |

If something is extremely i can popular among all audiences, and well reviewed, it gets called mainstream by the hipsters. The only example i can remeber of that not being the case is SAO where it was pushed to mainstreamnes by being too overhyped. |
