After almost a year of hiatus, Ichigo Takano's popular shoujo series "Orange" will be moving from Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret to Futabasha's new magazine, Monthly Action. Chapter 9 will be re-serialized in the February issue, on sale December 25, 2013, and the newest chapter will run in the April issue, on sale February 25, 2014.

Takano's brand-new series, "Re Collection", began serialization in Monthly Action on October 25, 2013. "Re Collection" tells the story of Kanade, a professor who suffers from amnesia, and his roommate who calls himself God.

Orange's serialization will be irregular, and the two series are expected to publish interchangeably, alternating in the magazine each month.

Is "Orange" popular? Interesting that this shojo is based in the city of Matsumoto in Nagano prefecture as I cannot recall another manga that is set on the same city.
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

A bad idea imho. She should have ended Orange properly before moving on to a new one, especially if she can't keep them running simultaneously each month.

Anyway, Orange is the only shoujo I read so I'm happy it's coming back. I wonder if moving to a seinen magazine will change the content that follows to adjust to the new demographic.

Interesting manga , I liked where it was going.

What was her reason for going on hiatus if I may ask?

It is mentioned on her official site that she wasn't physically feeling well (to the extend that she attended the hospital, stayed there, etc.) enough to continue working on it and among other things. That led her to be unable to publish on Bessatsu Margaret anymore and even thought about publishing it as web series. The editor of Futabasha is the one who accompanied her then, and that's why she decided to agree with the editor and editor-in-chief of Futabasha to put her manga there. Orange is irregular publishing because she's not completely cured.

Almost cried reading this, so happy! I don't care if it will be irregular, there wasn't even hope for it to continue, so just this is better than nothing.

Also, I noticed that Orange is one of the top 20s in MAL. On a scale of 5 stars, which would you rate it out? I have a grudge against Shoujo demographics, but I'd like to try and get pass that barrier for once. Is Orange interesting? Can I have a quick plot synopsis? The main themes of the manga is?

I would rate it 5. You might think i give away easily high scores, but i tell you, i've read over 300 shojos and i've only rated 8 shojos with 10. But well, for someone that doesn't read much (or at all) shojos, guess it's possible to no find it so great. I would say it's unique among shojos, a bittersweet story about regrets, and what would happen if you have the chance to fix them. It's not about going back in time, but to warn your past self, make you do the things you should've done.
Of course it's about romance, but i also find beautiful the friendship in it and the selfness, and the drama is well balanced. There are such kind characters that it's obvious they would never exist lol. It isn't rushed, actually its pace is great showing us sometimes the future and making us cry with it. I'm just trying to say something here that isn't already in the sypnosis, so i'm sorry for the bad description. So the main theme guess it is Regrets, Future/Past and to save the loved one (is that even a theme? haha)
Hope to have helped at least a little bit.

Oh, I immediately marathon-ed Orange after I wrote that post, as you've seen with the edit. I'm sorry if I have caused you some troubles.

Oh the topic, I still have a question. I'll put it in spoilers, good for my conscience I guess.

I'm happy it's coming back since this is one of the best shoujo's I've read (so many tears while reading), but I'm disappointed that the updates will be irregular. I checked out the first chapter of Re Collection and I'm not very impressed despite it having a hot megane character. Male teacher involved with a high school girl? Yeah, no thanks. I also hope that the orange storyline will not be changed because of the seinen demographic.

Awesome! I literally discovered this days ago.

I have not caught up on the chapters out, because while I loved the first two chapters I saw there hasn't been a chapter in a year and a bunch of comments about how the manga-ka quit. So I thought, maybe I should stop and save myself the pain.

Now I found out it's going to resume. Pretty perfect timing! Well I guess December when the next chapter actually comes out would have been better, more real. I wonder if she plans to keep it going for a while or just wants to wrap it up.
