RHODE ISLAND MENTIONEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

A fine episode. Kinda boring cause it was just Makoto and Koichi fucking around lol.
Makoto is great and I like her dub voice, was hoping she wouldn't be annoying.

It's cute seeing Pop be jealous lmfao!

Man, this show is just so fun to watch.

We now have this upperclassman approach Koichi and while she's having an investigation about vigilantes she also gives us way more depth into the history of the world than the original series ever did. That makes the setting more believable and the characters that much more involved. A lot of funny moments too with grumpy Pop, the side guys teasing Koichi and by the end the genuine confession of not being The Cruller but rather The Crawler. Who'd have thought such a misunderstanding would save him.

Over halfway through and this is among the best shows of the season.

PS: Oh and how could I forget, after a long day of watching football the fact that the villain this time around had the quirk of... playing football is just hilarious to me.

Makoto seems like a fun, cool person to be around with. This episode also gave Koichi a chance to learn what being a bodyguard is like. This show also seems to be at a stage where Koichi is more confident in himself.

But seriously, I want to see more of Makoto in this show. She seems like a breath of fresh air.
@Stark700 I loved Makoto! somehow I want her with Koichi T______T

Ah, more worldbuilding and lore about heroes and villains origin the main series only touches briefly.

The drawing for the American vigilantes is so good it looks like it's from a legit western comic. A big name indie one.
@Mainnus If I remember correctly we got the same background in one of the BNHA episodes

I really hated Pop on this episode. WHY THE FUCK DOES SHE GETS MAD if it's not her house?
I know she is jealous and won't accept it but jesuschrist, she's acting like a kid (she's a teenager, please have more common sense).

How did he get around her human polygraph? I thought for sure he would have been busted? Is it because Cruller is not the same as The Crawler??

Public opinion was pretty harsh. Especially for Pop Step and her butt. Yikes.

Makoto is nice and now Popstep has competition.

Damn this episode felt pretty short. The whole the law of heroes was created not to define heroes but to define villains was pretty cool.

Nah cause why Rhode Island? I feel like the first place to recognize that stuff would be like, Chicago, Detroit, Boston or Cleveland. Rhode Island feels like somebody was rolling dice or naming whatever densely populated state came to mind that wasn't New York or California

A lot to unpack here!

First: I do adore Vigilante's commentary about the legality of quirks, how the links to concepts such as self-defense and other things, and this episode even touched in the political implications of that (Nothing prevents those who make the rules from classifying into a villain anyone who isn't convenient). Those are the things that I used to reflect about Boku no Hero Academia years ago, but was bummed that the main series never touched on them.

Second: About the polygraph thing, even if it was a normal polygraph, Kouichi would be safe, because he rejects the identity of "True Crueller" almost as an reflex, considering that he says it all the time. You could say that it is both an internal truth and an external truth.

Third:
Why are plain girls so much sexo?
I said the same about the plain girl in this week's episode of Kowloon Generic Romance

Good to know that this anime doesn't fall behind in that department.

Fourth:
In this scene, you know that Makoto's brother knows she's trying to use her power on him:

Don't worry she does indeed show up more and plays a important role later in the manga. I think you'll like what's in store!!

Wow so much lore and people mostly liking Pop Step for her big butt is hilarious. I honestly can't believe how good Makoto is in this show compared to the manga version. She's just a more fun character in the anime than the manga (tho the manga is still good)!! I just can't wait to see everyone's reaction and opinion on Captain Celebrity because he's my favorite side character in this show and manga that doesn't appear in the main series (which means All Might is another one of my favorites). Captain Celebrity better be funny because he's so funny in the manga, though I'm not going to tell his role in the manga for obvious reasons. I also loved how Pop Step is secretly in love with The Crawler even tho she won't say it out loud and also having everyone think The Crawler is a pervert because he might be looking up women's skirts is hilarious. I will say I wish Knuckleduster played a bigger role this episode!!

Koichi is so fkng chill he didn't get caught lying lol
And the villain having soccer as his quirk went kinda hard lmao

Everyone loves Pop Step's butt! 🤯 (me included ngl)
And I also believe there is no way "The Cruller" isn't looking up skirts, fuck that creepy ahh dude 🤣

@Stormy_77 exactly, Makoto has no idea Koichi's vigilante name is The Crawler, there is no way for her to get him to confess. He denying being The Cruller isn't a lie at all.

One of my favorite elements of superhero fiction is the dramatic irony and drama that comes from secret identities. This is something that's unfortunately absent from a lot of more mainstream stuff nowadays, like MHA's parent series and most of the MCU. And it's something that defines this episode. It's what gives Vigilantes that superhero feeling more than even the main series and it's a perfect microcosm of why I love Vigilantes so much. I'm so happy with the adaptation we're getting.

Episode Nitpick: I don't feel they did a good job with the part where Makoto's lie detecting quirk failed on Koichi because she said, "The Cruller" instead of Koichi's real chosen nickname "The Crawler". I know that the passerby interviewees already did lots of that early in the episode but, the last scene with Koichi and Pop bantering should've emphasized that more or that detail might go over some viewer's head

I'm bummed because, as a comedy fan, that might be the one and only chance "The Cruller" running gag could have paid off so freaking well. I'm just glad that I got it myself.

Really liked this episode. The theology about the Hero Society was reallyyy interesting for me, the bond between Koichi and Makoto was sweet and I like to see more of her. And Makoto is just fine as hell. I am starting to think Pop Step is getting more one-dimensional/ tsundere every episode though which sucks cus she was really fun the first few episodes.

Actually it failed because she didn't used the right name.

Koichi passing the polygraph because she also called him “The Cruller” lol.

You know, it's kind of ironic how Pop is vastly known for her butt while, except for a couple of shots in episode 1, we get nothing but darkness under her skirt xD.

Kouchi needs to seriously be more aware and careful with the type of people he befriends, lol. I don't blame him, since there's no way of knowing a person's quirk and who they are affiliated with, but she was extremely close to learning his real identity. Thankfully, nobody says his name correctly, lmao.

Funny ending, Koichi didnt lie haha. He isnt the "Klo-Man" (toilette-man)

Grumpy Pop is funny aswell, she even followed them around the whole day.

I had a feeling the new girl is some kind of villain but seems like she is indeed harmless. Lets see what happens.

Im suprised muscle grandpa didnt follow them around and instead trusts Koichi to not mess up the situation. He surely likes his student.

We finally met the mommy Makoto, and her first interaction with Kouichi says a lot about her character. She didn't judge him for the rumors surrounding him and offered to help with his exam preparation for some compensation, showing kindness by offering to get rid of his loner self.

Then, when they reached Kouichi's house, she told us a lot about the Vigilante and Hero system and how the hero license started. It was also an interesting reveal that she's the sister of the inspector Naomasa we saw earlier.

Feeling happy seeing Kazuho all jealous and angry over Makoto being close to Kouichi was mean of me, but nah, her reactions were really cute and worth it.

Lol, those kids talking about Pop's butt, then there's that office man and the idol otaku. The dude was seriously telling what she should be doing, and the poll results were all about Pop☆Step's butt and body 😭.

No one got Kouichi's hero name right, and they all think he's weird. The people's thoughts on Knuckleduster weren't good either, and they got his name wrong as well.

Nah, Kazuho made me feel sad when she felt down as Kouichi was helping catch the thief to impress Makoto. And during the scene at the station, she really looked scary. But her ability didn't work since he never lied, as his name isn't Cruller but Crawler.

Lol, Kouichi is so opposed to be acknowledged as "The Cruller" that he didn't even give a second thought to Makoto's question and ended up outsmarting her Polygraph without realizing.

So the mere fact of being Brazilian in the MHA universe already counts as a Quirk, huh? Good to know.

Cool episode. Pop acting like your average jealous anime girl was meh but I really appreciated all the lore and worldbuilding surrounding the origin of Quirks and the legalization of the first Heroes/Villains.
And Tsukauchi's sister, Makoto, is finally here. So... gotta assume she doesn't make it to the end of the series? Considering she was never mentioned nor shown in the main series... as far as I remember.

New character is here.

Lmao Pop is insanely jealous of Makoto. And what's this? Is Koichi actually into older women? That's bad news for Pop.

A lot of new lore was revealed in this episode. Interesting stuff.

After everything they had done, I thought the reputation of the vigilantes would've been much more positive by now. Being a vigilante seems like a thankless job... The data didn't seem all that useful for the research. But at least Koichi now knows what people think of him.

I think polygraph tests can be wrong. But I wonder why it failed on Koichi. Does her quirk work like regular polygraph tests or can it find out the truth every time? Did it fail because polygraph tests usually aren't accurate in general or is it cause she didn't ask the right question? Anyway, new character in the next episode. This episode was fun. I hope the next one will be too.

I think it failed because she asked if he’s crueller but bro identifies as the Crawler.
