Moaang handled the storyboarding, direction, and supervision for this episode. The show tries to reflect the tension between how the characters see things through both the animation and audio (that wild song choice later on really shows it), and his gentle style intentionally clashes with the gritty look the premiere used to tie into its tragic tone.

Compared to the first episode’s more raw and heavy artstyle, Moaang’s approach feels simpler but also more natural and comfortable. And that’s what makes the sudden shift to gruesome detail hit even harder. I mean… that’s Takopii’s Original Sin clearly.

Changing time never goes well, no matter how many times takopi travelled back in time, she kept on finding them. And now we have the backstory to what happened with Chappy. Feel bad for takopi as well, can't do anything since he's basically helpless and has to witness Shizuka getting bullied to the max.

That ending though, scared to see what will happen next episode

Woke up, only thing on my mind today was wanting Marina and her mother brutally murdered, what’s wrong with me? I derived tremendous pleasure from today’s episode and left with a smile in my face. Great way to end the 4th of July seasonals.

I’m sorry, I tried to have sympathy for Marina but I just can’t. Yea she got abused, yea her mother and father are pieces of shit who should die, but ultimately your actions are your own. A lot of mfs get abused at home and don’t go try to kill people, get people’s dogs killed and all the other nasty shit she did. Shit, I know a few of em myself, they’d act out in class and maybe say some wild shit on Xbox live, but Marina’s actions were repeatedly and consistently horrific. She was irredeemable and seeing Takopi take her life made me happy.

Speaking of which, I was about at my breaking point with Takopi because his refusal to accept how horrible Marina was and how she’s never going to change no matter how many times he loops was making me so angry. And the fact he just let Shizuka go off into the forest with her and get her ass beat while he’s daydreaming about this being a fucking magical girl show and them making up. About time he realized he’s a fucking alien and can help defend Shizuka. Running from a bully won’t change them, punching them in the mouth will.

Also we finally saw Shizuka’s mom who, as you can imagine, is a piece of shit too. You wearing nice clothes and earrings and ya daughter ain’t got nothing to eat, wearing rags and living at home by herself. Didn’t even make eye contact with her or ask how her day went. All the parents need to die in a car accident. Since they all wanna be messy and prioritise sex over their own kids, let em burn to death.

Idk man this show brings the inner dark and twisted out of me which is a testament to how well written it is. I’m guessing this episode had a different director than the first too because the direction was noticeably different, no letterboxd effect either. Can’t wait to see how things go with no more do overs.

Takopi still wanting Shizuka to make up with Marina, that's still quite the misconception though...

Takopi getting to know more about Shizuka and her parents, though the loss of Chappy meant that something indeed was going on, and Marina definitely had a hand on her disappearance by euthanizing it, so Takopi trying all sorts of ways to avoid Marina every time he resets time, but it doesn't seem to work. The only logical outcome for her mother to take Chappy away from her by bringing it to an animal clinic, and she still has to answer to Marina's father for the inconvenience, so Takopi taking matters into his own hands by forcing Shizuka to go to school and face the bully herself, it's only thanks to Azuma that Shizuka did not get beaten up.

Of course, Marina would take a different path to find Shizuka, and Takopi thinking that this would be the perfect chance for them to patch up together, he could not have been so wrong so see things turn out otherwise by Marina ranting at her and blaming her for all her family's troubles. The thing is, Takopi using the Happy Camera for all but the same, decides to take the rash act to use it to kill Marina instead, which makes Shizuka happy all the more that it "works like magic". And it's on his 7th Day on Earth, that Takopi's story, without do-overs, truly start with Shizuka.

How will Takopi's new life turn out, knowing that he cannot reverse time anymore?

My heart kept sinking every single time something horrible happened.

No matter what Takopi did, the same outcome occurred every single time. Chappy was also taken away from Shizuka. Going back in time isn't always the solution sometimes and that's what Takopi learned this episode. Marina PURPOSELY gets bitten by Chappy so that Animal Protective Services comes and takes what made Shizuka want to live in the first place. You know how messed up that is? If I were in that situation, I wouldn't even know what to do but sit there and grieve. But that's not all, Marina told Shizuka that she could give information about Chappy in the most sketchy forest ever. Seeing Shizuka getting abused again wasn't good at all. My heart kept dropping everytime Marina landed a hit on her. And then Takopi had the bright idea of slamming the camera into Marina's face, killing her and made it so that he couldn't go back in time anymore. Marina dying was something I wasn't expecting this episode and honestly, she deserves it. Like, the way she abused and bullied Shizuka was unacceptable and clearly she wasn't in a good state of mind. I did want her to get what she deserved but dying? Maybe that was a bit too much. How is Takopi going to fix all of it? When Marina's parents find out, they MIGHT blame Shizuka on it. But I'm not sure though, could happen.

Sure, she deserved it. Marina's way of bullying Shizuka was way overkill. Takopii still doesn't understand how things are on Earth and... Well...

For Takopii to be frozen by fear, to act that way was impressive. Never expected it.

Now, how the hell is this going to be fixed? After all, Takopii "disappears" her problems, at the cost of damaging the camera (so, there's no turning back now, I think)

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

Fantastic, the contrast between the horror of what Shizuka is going through and Takopi's innocent good humor is simply magnificent. When Marina calls Shizuka to chat in the woods, they put on a cheerful OST knowing full well that she would live through hell, it gave me goosebumps. I've never been bullied, so I don't think I fully understand what poor Shizuka is going through, but Marina is putting me under tremendous pressure behind my screen 😭 the seiyuu does an incredible job. What can I say about the ending, Shizuka exulting with joy after she has just seen someone die, you can feel how much she hates Marina and how much the bullying destroyed her... chilling and beautifully done AOTY for me.

Finally Karma, justice, absolutely deserving....
0 fucking sympathy for that bitch.

Man it made me happy to see that lowlife die...

The mental torture first episode was horrible but taking away Chappi, the last straw she clinched on. After that I just wanted nothing but her death and I got it.
I thought no way this fked up situation can be solved well just kill the problem isn't worst outcome. Infact it's only and best outcome.

"Thankyou Takopi"
"For killing her"

Shizuka suffered enough and to see her smile so genuinely was so satisfying🥰

Welp, Marina died. It's kinda uncomfortable people are happy she's dead, and I can understand why at least, but is no one gonna talk about her piece of sh*t dad and Shizkuka's mom? In my opinion those two are the real villains of the story.
Good episode once again. I'm excited to see where we go from here. 5/5

The ending had me laughing at least lol, idk if that is just me being heartless or not. Wasn't really into most of the episode's stuff but that at least was different and with only 4 episodes to go given how short the series is, a lot can still happen and change in an instant.

I'm so scared for Shizuka. The fact that Takopi can't reverse the murder means that, obviously, Shizuka will be to blame. Her life will become worse than when she was being bullied, especially now that Chappy can never return :(

@Cestlavie_

It's purely a speculation, but I think that's how the mangaka and the staff wanted the audience to react.

It was the amount of contrast with what happened and in what tone that was represented. Takopi literally just bludgeoned a freaking child to death, resulting in a pool of blood and the corpse is now staring into oblivion. And what happens after that? A happy enthusiastic cheerful music starts playing, the color palette brightens, and the main character starts jumping and squealing with joy. The contrast between the gravity of the situation and how "happily" it is represented is just too much, that I think it will squeeze out laughter from almost anyone.

i was kind of scary on how they would adapt this episode, but they just cleared out all of my doubts, tho i still think that this episode would've been better if they have made it a little bit longer adapting the next manga chapter, in total it'll be 3 adapted chapters instead of 2 adapted chapters, however they added up so much content that in the manga isn't like new scenes, new frames, and slower pace than the manga making it feels more impactful and heartbreaking. i think they caught all the scenes' atmosphere and intention, the last one is so uncomfortable to watch that you don't even know how to react by awaking up so many emotions in you, maybe you laugh, cry, get angry or a combination of so many.

This episode's direction was inmaculate as the first episode. I'm really glad with the adaption.

I thought Shizuka's dad was dead. The fact that he divorced her mom and then left her is way more fucked up. Because of course he did.

I was scared of the camera breaking at some point. I knew it was gonna happen eventually. What I didn't expect was: 1. Takopi fucking killing Marina and 2. Shizuka is happy about it. Yeah, Marina was a huge bitch. But I can't really be happy about her death. She was also a victim. I'd say the real villains are the parents. But it's not like I know much about them. I'd be happier seeing Shizuka's slut mom or Marina's parents dead tho that'd probably never happen.

What do you mean this is where the "true story" begins?! Idk how to feel tbh. I have no clue what's gonna happen next. I did not see the ending coming at all. I'm still shocked that an anime like this was approved to be made. This show probably wouldn't have been made 10 or more years ago. Usually these kinds of fucked up stories stay as mangas or doujins. But I'm kinda glad that it's receiving such a high-profile anime and makes me more hopeful for other adaptations like this in the near future.

Anyway, looking forward to what happens next. Whatever happens, I'm sure it's going to be dark.

I’m sorry but so many of the comments are soo messed up, what the actual heck. I know what Marina did was wrong, but celebrating her death is so messed up, it’s actually psychotic to wish and celebrate that on a child dying. Instead of blaming Marina have you even thought about the adults in this situation? That’s who you should be blaming, the teacher for not intervening on the bullying, shizuka’s mom for never being there for her, and literally destroying the marriage in Marinas family, if shizukas mom actually cared about her she would stop that business. Marinas mom isn’t even really there for her, she’s just a total mess at the moment, which I don’t really blame her for, the situation she’s in is horrible. Marinas dad is an absolute horrible dead beat father, and he uses the excuse of providing for his family to cheat on his wife, how scummy is that, and Shizuka’s father is dead beat as well. All that being said, blaming Marina and hoping she dies is completely messed up, I don’t like her either, but I would never wish for a child to die?!? it’s the adults that are at blame for her behavior, not the child.

Wow! Near the end of the episode I was already fantasizing how Marina needs her head bashed in and then, just like that, my prayers have been answered!

Also, the whole episode I was thinking "I wonder how long it'll take until Takopi's 'quicksave' will last, because the camera is the only life line".
Whoops, camera gone!

This show is really dark. I'm very curious, where this evil rabbit hole will lead us.
