Let's be honest, there was nothing in this episode that justifies rating of almost 9.
| @Myetx Yeah, it's no Solo Leveling lol But seriously, it's probably fans of the manga being incredibly pleased with how well this has been adapted. It's gorgeous to look at; the VAs are perfect; the music is on point. Assuming the quality endures, by end of season, this will probably settle in at about 8.5 |

| Seeing Kaoru Hana finally adapted is truly what I’ve been waiting for two and a half years. Seeing Rintaro and Waguri animated and pretty much most of the cast was so delightful. Really looking forward to this adaptation 🥹 |
| Been waiting forever for this adaptation! It looks SO damn good that it brought a tear to my eyes a few times. This will be the most wholesome romance anime since Horimiya and then some. 10/10 shit is winning anime of the year! |

| Kaoruko is adorable! Other than that I'm honestly not impressed with episode 1 at all. Nothing special happened. Wasn't even considering watching this show but then I noticed this on "top airing shows this season" list and decided to give it a try. I've seen plenty of such shows with cute girls as MC but none made to #18 spot (currently, by score) as much as I remember. I'm not even going to try be overly judgmental on this show because of score, I just hope the hype will be somehow justified and it can change my mind with later episodes. Definitely gonna keep watching but as of now there are already a couple of painfully corny moments. Especially that 1 scene where Kaoruko is basically abducted (otherwise why she'd drop cake box) by cliche bad guys and 1 goes as far as wanting to punch her in the face (not to mention the cringe "come have fun with us" line while holding her hand and not letting go. Does this even happen in real life? Like, guys forcefully dragging random girls to dark alleys while she hardly resists and then the guys somehow manipulate the girl to go to hotel or wherever??? I have met girls who had encounters with creeps but anime loves to depict girls as submissive and overly fragile beings who can't even scream in public when a stranger grabs and drags them. Is this Japan thing perhaps?) What's even worse, Rintarou doesn't go feral on the guy after he clearly intended to hit her and even says something as cringe as "I deserved this". Meanwhile bad guys get goofy animation and run away yelling sorry (like last time); basically the show downplays abduction and physical assault on a girl who looks like she could die from 1 punch (exaggerating lol). Anyways, that scene ruined the experience for me; especially since those 2 POS guys basically got away with assault and maybe even rape if Kaoruko was a bit more weak-willed. Rintarou also didn't leave good first impression. Hopefully their first encounter wasn't something as corny as "he gave me napkin I dropped and I fell in love!" or "he gave me umbrella during rain" or some similar BS. P.S I'm not hating this show in particular, just disappointed since I've seen something like this several times already. Hoping for the best. |

THE MOST ANTICIPATED ROMANCE ANIME OF THE YEAR IS FINALLY HERE!
OP by Tetsuya Kitani is perfect for this anime and ED by Ushio Reira really describes everything about Waguri. OP and ED both have very beautiful visuals, I love it. I think I like OP more than ED and this can change every week lol.
Chidori public high school and all-girls Kikyo private academy, these two schools are really two different worlds but, I'm confused why these two schools are side by side, even though all-girls Kikyo is a private academy lol.
personally I don't really like the "positive" vibe type of romance, but this might be one of my favorites. imo, this first episode I'm still not hooked on the premise of this romance story and I feel like I've watched this type of romance dozens of times, I'm just talking about the structure of this type of romance because this romance just nothing special/generic and too cliché BUT, I'm really looking forward to what this author will cook up next with this too WHOLESOME romance story.
I love the fact that all the characters introduced are very likeable especially Rintarou's mother unlike other romance anime we will very rarely see the parents of the MC/FMC or the parents of the MC/FMC are not likeable but not with this, I'm really waiting for more parent conversations with the MC/FMC in this anime. really waiting for next week's episode, and I hope to see more developments between Waguri and Rintarou. 7,5/10.

| @NezuSwallowtail_ yeah the whole interactions with the parents in this show are great. especialy as a parent myself (no i dont feel too old to watch this stuff xD), the scenes with the mother and father are the most emotional for me because they are so damn great. i really cried in the manga at this one conversation with his mother a little bit later. |

the whole thing about him being scary needs a little perspective from a japanese point of view.
in japan people who dye their hair are basicaly automaticaly troublemaker.
then he also has piercings which makes it even worse. and he is tall.

| What a lovely meet cute for a couple from the opposite sides of society. She's sweet and doesn't judge him just because he is tall and "looks" rough. He seems smitten, jumps right in to defend her. Oh my heart. Those 2 guys ran so fast they should really try out for the track team. |

| Waguri-chan seems very sweet and Rintaro is a good guy. There was some weird sub screw ups where I watched it had some timestamp in the dialogue at one point and some lines did not feel right. |

| Adorable pilot episode for a romcom. I honestly don’t understand how the anime’s title relates to the story so far, but it’s a pretty title, so I don’t really mind. That aside, I’ll never understand why it’s always so easy for guys to hit girls in romcom anime, it’s like every male character had a rough upbringing or something. That said, I’m really glad Rintaro stepped in and saved Kaoruko from those creeps in time. It would’ve gotten really bad otherwise. I kind of wanted him to land a punch or two, but I guess his death stare was enough, apparently it’s terrifying, haha. Also, I love how Kaoruko only visited Rintaro’s store once, and by the very next day, he’s already daydreaming about when she’ll come again, haha. Nevertheless, I have some questions about this anime having such a high rating, 8.9/10 is huge, and I’m not entirely convinced it’s justified yet. I know this show’s been super hyped for a while now, but let’s be honest, truly great romance anime are rare. I liked the prologue, but it didn’t blow me away. It was just decent. So now I’m waiting to be surprised. I really hope it lives up to the hype, because I love a good romance anime, and like I said, genuine masterpieces in this genre are few and far between. Can’t wait to see what the upcoming episodes have in store! |
