Out of the cast so far, Philia and Mia looks are highlighted the most in terms of their appearance. Between some of the silly and serious moments, I do find the character chemstry kinda amusing. I dislike that prince though, especially for the engagement breakoff. Feels like he has a huge ego.

Philia's personality needs a lot of development as she seems more reserved than others. It's a fine setup for a lot more storytelling for rest of the season.

ABEMA Early Airing.

Novelist Koki Fuyutsuki's series in the latest trend of "kicked off from the hero's party (or in this case, her own kingdom)" trope, I don't know what to think about it but is definitely an occurrence here.

The word around is that every country needs at least a woman saint to drive back monsters, and Saint Philia Adenauer is the greatest saint of all time being the 28th Saint...except that she doesn't smile as compared to her younger sister, the 29th Saint of Mia, in the Kingdom of Girtonia. This is causing a lot of conflict for her monotone behaviour against people and her family, because she wasn't being loved the same way as Mia does, having worked just as hard as her other sister but only for her fruits to not reap at all. Philia's engagement to Girtonia's 2nd prince Julius, only makes the matter worse no thanks to her accomplishments.

While Mia is happily being received by the townsfolk, Julius deciding to cancel his engagement to Philia and go for her younger sister instead, the corroboration with her own parents to sell her off to the nearby neighbouring country of Parnacorta, they really never saw any value or worth trying to raise her to their standards, and instead just straight up abandoned her to find happiness elsewhere. As Philia questions her worth, her reaching the gates of Parnacorta...only to have a massive greeting awaiting her, dumbfounded as she looks, but her life will change from here on out.

Better stay away from your immediate family Philia, you're better off in Parnacorta.

Phillia's parents: One of the worst parents of the year contenders.
Phillia, you don't need to care about that dumb prince, your former kingdom of Ziltonia, or your dumbshit parents. Let's sit and watch the Ziltonia Kingdom together with that dumb prince gets destroyed by the monsters.
A better life awaits you in Parnacotta.

Philia had a rough upbringing, with her parents playing favorites. I can’t really tell what Mia’s true colors are—is she truly a sweet girl who admires Philia, or does she secretly loathe her?

I’m glad Philia got away from Prince Julius—he never saw her worth. And yeah, she was sold, but honestly, it’s for the best. I’m sure her kingdom will regret losing her once they start suffering without all the things she used to do for them.

I’m really interested in how the story will play out—can’t wait for the next episode!

I think the title is a little bit overexaggerated for click-bait effect. The actual situation is not as bad as it sounds.

I'm trying to guess each country's origin of name. From the map, Almburg = Hamburg, Parnacorta = Panna cotta, Elekana = Éclair, but I don't know the food or dessert that sounds similar to Girtonia/Ziltonia. Could it be Gü Zillionaire?

I like it so far, but the music selection is a little overbearing in some conversations and especially Philia's inner monologues, like it's trying to force emotion much too often where no assistance is needed. And, what was the dramatic pause when the Prince is telling Philia that he's breaking off their engagement? Way too long for something that's literally revealed in the title xD
They did do a pretty good job of making him a face-punchable clown, though. Can't wait for FAFO to come back around for him xD
I really like Philia and Mia so far, which is why I'm here to begin with xD Philia is awesome in the Manga and LNs, and they're off to a good start here.

Also up on Crunchyroll if you’re wondering but MAL won’t let us update the list.. It’s been a while since an anime premiere made me this angry. I’m absolutely fuming. Every character in this is a piece of shit and Philia deserves so much better. Sweetest thing ever.

Ishikawa Yui was truly born to play these beautiful, mysterious, damaged and aloof characters. I’m already in love with Philia. She’s such a sweetheart and her not smiling would just make me want to learn more about her rather than selling her off or being cruel to her. My stomach was churning for the entire episode length because how tf you gonna complain about your kid not smiling when you’ve never given her a reason to. Never shown her any love or care other than comparing her to her sister and putting her down.

I’m wondering if the younger sister knows about the abuse tho because she seems like Philia’s biggest stan and I struggle to believe she’d be ok with her family abusing her big sister in her name. It’s one thing for ONE of the parents to be abusive, like I could see the mom being jealous of her daughter but having BOTH parents be evil pieces of shit is crazy. I NEED the prince to die a very brutal death as well, can tell he’s going to be a real piece of work and probably even try to kill the dad. Ugh, this was just a hard to watch first episode. It’s one thing to be nasty, but it seems like everyone just wanted to be cruel for the sake of cruelty to her. Inviting her to the palace just to dump her, bringing both parents.. they wanted to break Philia. Hats off to the actor for eliciting this sort of reaction already.

It looks like the new kingdom is already treating her 100x better than the old one did. I can’t wait to see the start of her new life. Kinda gettting some Hoshinina vibes from this one. I’m looking forward to more!

It's really trendy now for the protagonist to be expelled, and it's happening with female characters too. I found it unfair what they did to her just because she didn't show the affections worthy of a Saint, like smiling and such. The prince was already a bastard, but he doesn’t even compare to her parents—two pieces of trash who didn’t hesitate to sell her and only thought about themselves, not about her sister, who will probably be sad when she finds out. Possibly, Philia will have a happy life in the other kingdom, so it’s both advantageous and disadvantageous for her.

I'm feeling some vibes similar to those on My Happy Marriage, which I really enjoy. At least I can watch it on Crunchyroll and not on Netflix 👍🏻

I don't know what it is with Japanese and horses. They always depict them so well, highly detailed.

Philia being received like a queen didn't mean the world to her. It meant the whole universe!

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

This episode was exaggeratedly gross.

Phillia's shown to be super polite, extremely competent in her duties, and goes out of her way to make sure that people get the help they need. In this episode alone she summons rain for the drought-stricken farmers, concocts a new medicine despite it being intended as a trap, and wipes out monsters the kingdom had trouble with and gives the soldiers tactical advice to help them in the future.

And yet people are shown to be terrified of her? To despise her as their own child? Because she doesn't smile enough?

I can understand the jealous jerks wanting to bring her down a peg from her perfect record, but the average citizen?

I mean c'mon! They're fawning over her sister ffs. All because she smiles.

It's a really ham-fisted use of a disgusting hyper-sexist trope.

However... the quiet diligence of the foreign prince and the grand welcome she receives at the border suggests it's going to be far better moving forward, so I'll have to see where it goes. It has a lot of potential as a healing arc for the poor girl to receive an abundance of affection to make up for the lack she felt growing up.

Hope they can keep this somewhat serious mood and not immediately decent into a cheap comedy in the next episode... and also hope the conflicts in this anime are not as silly as some others.
Otherwise I love this! Hope Philia will live a better life in Parnacota.

The show is perfectly constructed to have us root for Philia and hate the prince. No shades of grey, it's clear cut. He is so cartoonishly evil and I find this very boring and cheaply written.

But I do enjoy Philias inner thoughts and want to see how she'll interact with the blonde guy.

Nice prologue. I have a hunch that the nice blonde at the end is actually Parnacorta's prince, he also seems a lot nicer than Girtonia's one. Dunno why Philia's parents hated her so much, to the point it was almost unrealistic, but nonetheless, hope she finds salvation in Parnacorta, in opposed to Girtonia where the only person who treated her well was Mia.

Bit curious about how Mia's reaction to the situation is, since her adorable big sister just got kicked out, so i'm surprised they didn't know how she would react, since i was curious to know if she really loved her big sister or if she's actually a two-faced snake, but whatever, we might figure that out in the upcoming episode.

Despite being a perfect saint, her parents hate her and almost everyone treated her poorly but her cute younger sister, and I am not sure why that is, just because she never crack a smile? or is there something more to it?

At least it looks like she will actually treated with respect in the new place and maybe have a happier life, I guess we shall see

Love me an over-the-top cartoonishly evil antagonist. There's no two ways about it, he's just an asshole. I feel for a show like this, that works a lot better than trying to hamfistedly paint someone as being morally grey - he has zero redeeming qualities, you aren't meant to question his decision to sell her off as in any way being anything but his own douchebaggery, it's just plainly presented that this dude is a bitch. It's refreshing.

Okay okay, I'm getting My Happy Marriage and 7th Time Loop vibes from this. I'm all for a villainess/fantasy shoujo anime like this.
I was pained watching Philia get treated like that. She's so beautiful and her bot smiling only adds to her charm.
Fuck her parents.

I just forwarded through the 2nd half during the scene with the prince and the parents; It's so stupidly predictable. Shouldn't have taken that long.

I don't have an issue with the protag's 'emotionless' situation, or the cliche loving, bubbly, sister, or the 'Knight in shining armor' coming to the rescue of the damsel in distress.
But I sure as heck have a great problem with the villains of the story being so freakin' cheap. It won't be interesting to follow the journey of the MC if the obstacles are just a bunch of villain-for-the-sake-of-villain for no interesting or creative reason at all. At least the prince has the classic greed and selfish reasons for it, but the parents?... just straight up hating, like a spell has been casted on them or something.

Good aesthetics though, and the OST as well.
I'll apply the "3 Episode Rule" since I'm curious if there will be hints of the sister secretly plotting the MC's current predicament all along, and the MC being a saint for a new empire might also provide some interesting stuff.

This is a good episode 1, but the premise is so absurd I can't help but feel annoyed. Like I get this is a Cinderella story but instead of a helpless princess being thrown out its the most proficcient, talented and competent miracle worker ever in every field imaginable, who was basically doing charity work for the kingdom. My god must the people be so dumb? I am mad not only for the poor main character but for how unrealisticly stupid the "bad guys" are...
Animations are great, VA is top notch, can't wait for episode 2.

I really enjoy stories like this!
But I wish Philia had shown more defiance when she was banished—especially toward her fiancé and family, who sold her off. Her sister Mia clearly adores her and would never want this. Now Mia has to marry the man who discarded Philia—how could she be happy with that?

I kept hoping Philia would protest more, if not for herself, then for Mia’s sake. But maybe her strict upbringing drained her of all fight? Either way, I’m excited to see how her character grows!

This was one of my most anticipated animes of the season, no reason really it just looked interesting and so far no disappointments.

It done what it needed to setting up the plot, characters and giving us a general idea of the world plus giving us a character to follow who seems interesting to watch grow. So far the three characters who seem to be taking centre stage are Philia, Mia and the blonde guy from the other kingdom.

Philia has every right to be the way she is tbh working so hard to earn her families approval and being shunned just because she cant put on a proper bright smile a saint should have.

Sure the show has some pretty stereotypical villain types of characters but Its fine really. Idk if Mia would actually want to marry the prince perhaps she don't see his bad side. She seems to be the only character right now who actually cares for Philia so hopefully she stays the course.

I really like the art style its very similar and the show overall is very similar to Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence.

Very strong start to the anime for me.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Really wish Philia would have told off the prince and her parents. And I'm suspicious of Mia. Was she only acting like she loved her sister and when the random guy asked about her hair pin? The fact she was all happy and immediately next scene we see Philia kicked out makes me think she was just pretending this whole time. Hope I'm wrong though.

Yui "FGO Morgan & Violet Evergarden" Ishikawa doing emotionally damaged polite cutie again, good. Thats a typecast I can stand by.

Can some manga/Novel pals give some spoilers (ofc, tagged, please) on Mia? Is she a Green Tea Bitch/White Lotus-type shoujo villain, or she genuinely loves her sister and is clueless about her souless abusive family?
And IF the second, how bad she's gonna react to her big sister exiling? Try to escape/run (and succeed)? Do a scene and scream accusations in a official party, with lots of testimonies to sink 2nd prince and her famly social standing? Take advantage of her popularity to overthrow the royals? Just sulk in helpless depression? At least try to contatc Philia, to see if she's living a nicer life?

I'm scratching my head to find any sense of logic in any of this.

Phillia pretty much protects the region from monsters, brings rain to the farmers, produces healing formulaes, but not a single soul in this sh*thole has any kind of gratitude towards the pillar that keeps the status quo in check? I could understand that at least a few of them aren't selfish douches, but a whole country? And all that just because she can't smile?

The Prince's reasoning for selling the golden goose makes no sense either. "We have 2 saints, we only need 1". What the fruck? It's not like you're paying a huge salary to Philia that exchanging her for money would surpass all the benefits she's giving to your country. He could have gotten even more money by "leasing her" sending her as a hero for hire to regions where they don't have a saint or need the extra support with monster, farming issues and what not.

The good looking guy asking who was the most famous girl in the region was obviously going to be the prince of a nearby country. They really didn't even try to make it more subtle. This is like some cinderella knockoff mixed with last season's "My Happy Marriage" but at least that other anime had more charming characters.

I'll watch one more episode out of pure morbid curiosity, but I seriously don't think this will get any better writting wise.

First off, who chose to end the episode with that bright ass, solid white credits roll? Trying to blind their viewers, I suppose.

There was a lot here that was pretty bad. The cartoonishly villainous parents and fiance. She did nothing except help the people and is regarded as the greatest saint, but everyone hates her because the plot needs it to, I guess. Even the peasants or commoners hate her and were trying to screw her over with impossible tasks? Ok. The little kid was afraid of her because she didn't smile while she said nice things? I like how they tried to make her face seem scary or something, but it just looked perfectly normal. That kid is a pansy, lol. I can understand that the people would enjoy talking to Mia more, but to outright hate Philia made no sense.

Based on how the episode ended, I'm guessing Philia's life is going to drastically change and this new kingdom will appreciate her. She will have discovered an amazing new life, but her sister is trapped in a hellish existence on the other side. So, she will end up trying to save her as the main plot. I would actually be down for that, if that is the case.

I kind of like the art style, to be honest. Reminds me of oil paintings or water colors. I like both designs for the sisters, as well. The animation looked pretty good in the scene when they had the wind blowing her hair as the sakura petals danced around her. Other than that though, it was not great. The CG horses were particularly awful. They would give the Spice & wolf horse a run for its money, lol.

I kind of hoped there would not be a handsome prince waiting for her on the other side of the gate, but of course there was. I will stick around if this ends up being a sibling rescue story. Probably not otherwise. Every character aside from the sisters was pretty hard to watch.

The girl helps everyone, but because she can't smile, they hate her. I just can't fathom a company spent money on this.

My guess for the future episodes, she will help the country prosper, she will be loved, she learn to smile. Her old country is going to suffer, because her sister is useless.

Clearly, you need a healthy dose of suspension of disbelief in order to tolerate the premise, as the exaggerations are pretty extreme. Feminists would surely agree that Philia could be viewed as arrogant given her extreme proficiency and lack of smile or feminine warmth, but it's a little too simplistic. Of course, I don't really mind the cartoonishly evil antagonists and barely believable premise, as these are staples of the genre, and going above and beyond, like the currently airing "Intergalactic Prince of an Evil Empire" (or something) doesn't necessarily make that any better.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

The first episode introduces Leticia, a perfect but emotionless saint whose fiancé, Prince Reinhardt, breaks off their engagement because she’s “not cute enough.” Instead of being free, she’s sold to a neighboring kingdom, where new challenges await.

Leticia remains calm and composed, making her an interesting protagonist. The animation is clean, and the soundtrack fits the regal atmosphere. The story hints at future court intrigue and personal growth, making it a promising start.

My guess for the future episodes, she will help the country prosper, she will be loved, she learn to smile. Her old country is going to suffer, because her sister is useless.
@Threee Im surprised you watch things you clearly dislike. Are you an angsty teenager?

I cant fathom the reasoning behind this.

You did read the synopsis yes? So why you expected anything different is baffling.

This is exactly why im glad Japan doesnt care what ppl outside Japan say about animes.

As long as series sell well in Japan, thats all that matters.
