@Tarrian i have the feeling like that curse is not real, and her master just trys to teach her valuable life lessons or something, but dunno.

I love the show btw. I dont think any anime managed to bring tears to my eyes in the first two episodes. I really like this one.

Great season so far.
@Wrathberry84 It's either got to be that or they're going to take the other melodramatic route where the count is accurate and she ends up short but still manages to get 500 or so, then as she's about to age to dust all the people she helped will gather together, cry a lot, and the pure emotion tears will make up the difference.

It was so good. Cuteness and mortality make an unsettling combination. I'm a bit worried where this is all heading and someone mentioned Plastic Memories... 😔😢

I mostly liked this episode, but there were some weird and confusing moments. The witch mama said that the fairies inhabit objects that have "fulfilled their functions", which is what makes the objects work. This doesn't make sense, because "fulfilling" its function implies it has already worked, although this could potentially be a bad translation.

And then when they sent the watch spirit to the cosmos, Meg, out of nowhere, said it'll come back to Fine in a different form, with no explanation?

And lastly, the granny just died like that? I'm in no way familiar with how people die, but that seemed incredibly sudden for a natural death.

This show is heartwarming and beautiful, but I hope it becomes less befuddling in future episodes

So far this is like a slightly less cynical, self-aware, and pretty Majo no Tabitabi.

I doubt that it will be able to equal or surpass it, but not a bad watch as a light Majo no Tabitabi analogue. I suspect that I'd personally enjoy and get more out of it in the long run if it leaned into more of a Slice of Life "day in the life of a witch" than melodrama direction. The strongest moments of the show for me have just been Meg hanging out casually with her friend Fine and at home with her teacher/mentor.

I would call this kind of anime "a machine to make people cry, nicely."

Quite an emotional episode, especially while I'm someone with a 90-year-old grandma and knowing THAT would eventually come.

Also, Fine. Fine is fine. No wonder why Meg wants to marry her hehe.

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

I didn't realize that this series would be this touching and kind of sad but this episode was, and that's not to say that I'm not enjoying it because I am, it's just that I thought it would be more of a chill adventure and fantasy-type watch. At least it has some humous moments like Meg asking Fine to marry her lol. Anyways, hopefully Meg will find a way to collect tears of joy faster since at least a week has passed and she has 2 tears of joy and 2 other types which I think had a mix of sadness to them.

I am hooked on how charming Meg is and her response to her death sentence. If this keeps up the pace, it could be one of those animes that does not win awards but is satisfying to watch.

Do not sleep on this one

Nice premise and sweet development, but I'll drop for now.

I find the writing too weak and cheesy. It's like the show is screaming "time to cry now!" but it doesn't set it up with proper buildup. I don't know Fine, why should I care for her grandpa's watch? I don't know the old lady, why should I care if she dies?
The story needs to give me something I can empathise with. Violet Evergarden had the same episodic structure, with people I didn't know every episode, and yet they managed to bring me tears because at the and of each episode I cared for them (I still have PTSD because of ep. 10).
Now, I'm not saying that every tearjerker series needs to be at the same level and has to make me cry all the time, but I'd settle for a good compromise (e.g Plastic Memories).

I can understand people being moved by this show, but unfortunately it's not for me. I'll come back to it if I have more spare time in the future.

To all the lovers of the series: I hope you'll enjoy it till the end. :)
Peace.

EDIT: I forgot to mention. The ED song is a piece of art. As soon as the extended version gets released, it goes into my favourite playlists.
@Kyou_Ryuu Not quite at dropping, but I agree this episode was weaker. I don't mind a blatant tearjerker. There's just not much here to work with and the whole thing feels very sanitized. Grandma goes right from active and responsive to gone without any of the messy between, and we skip right over what her family is going to think about missing her last moments or what that witch was doing when grandma died so abruptly. I don't feel these characters as people.

Bruh, the old lady is supposed to be like a fkng 10 level witch yet she can't do shit, old woman can't even fix a damn watch 💀

The way this episode ended was way too sad bro wtf 😭
I love Meg, she is a good protagonist, her attitude is cool.
I expect, if this gets more seasons until finishing it, to eventually see Meg surrounded by the reaper in the final chapters, because I doubt she will get all the drops before her very last day, the owl said she had to get 3 peer day, yet in this episode like an entire week passed and she only got 2 lol
Sorry if my english is bad (っ˘▽˘)っ~~~
Btw, cry about it.

Meg is such a kind soul.

1 week passed and still only 2 tears though. She's F-d :)
Maybe in the end it'll be all about quality of tears, not quantity? Unless she manages to save a lot of people at the same time, she's screwed.

I love the fact Meg's being kind not because of her "quest" but because she's genuinely that sweet.

In her place I'd also still be in denial about death...

Speaking of death. Granny death was a type of death many of us can only dream of. To go out peacefully at the old age, while surrounded by happy family.

I'm still finding Faust very sus. She's certainly not indifferent towards Meg. It seems to me like she's preparing Meg for the immortal life. Problem is, Meg is already very kind and I don't see why she needs to be tricked by Faust, if that's the case. What will she learn from the test she doesn't already know?

Anyways, I'm enjoying this, gonna keep watching.

I was already aware that this show was going to deal with mortality from the premise. But I underestimated how touching it was going to be! From Fine's sentimental memories associated with her grandpa's watch. To Granny Flare's final moments being made much more pleasant thanks to Megs interference.

This was a great episode that elicited quite a bit of reflection from me!

Ah Fine, is such a fine girlfriend for Meg. Tho she should've provide more tears than that one sole miserable tear, right? The owl becomes big by the magic, i thought its because he's the special one. Meg brings real tears of joy to the dying grandma, four in da bottle. What's next? Wonder if her mission can be more effective just by helping those kind of dying people. Idk....

Great episode! I felt so sad for Granny Flare, but I am glad that Meg was able to get her family back together. I wonder how the tree and Flare were truly connected. The earlier part about the watch was alright. I am curious how fairies work. Also, I figured this was set in a late medieval setting, but it seems to be somewhat contemporary - Meg has a smartpfone? And Meg x Fine is super cute!

that ending was bittersweet, even though i had a feeling what would happen. it took meg a while to figure out what was keeping her from departing just yet, and the moment meg brought her son and his family along with her, i knew it wouldn't be long before she moves on to the next life.

I know due to how many tears of joy Meg has to collect there has to be multiple tears of joy collected in an episode and that sometimes they are going to have to be collected from unrelated people but it felt disconnected with the unrelated stories in the first and second half of the episode.
