That's Shiro carrying on a legacy. It's great that he found a purpose in life since Yuri is gone and raising Rin as we know it.

But yeah, this pretty much covers the complex background story of Shiro, Yuri, Yukio, and Rin. Shiro had to be a strong role model and teach their ways. It's been an emotional arc imo, but this season gave a deeper understanding of the characters' past, Satan's origins, etc. Blue Night is the most important event that started the main story after all.

And just like that, we're back where we started. Season One Episode One. At the church, Rin and Yukio still oblivious to what's to come... that is, Shirou's death. Back then we didn't know what exactly it was that led to Shirou burning up and dying.. but now it all makes sense. yet again, everything just connects so seamlessly. It makes it 10x more sadder now with the context. I keep forgetting but yeah, Rin is legit right here with us watching this all go down.

It also makes you just see how much development he's had since season one. I mean, season one Rin would've been stepped in and fucked up something in the timeline, but that isn't the same Rin anymore, and I love to see that. And that whole final part of the episode where Rin talks to Shirou one last time... wow man. After all this time, Rin finally gets to say thank you. And with tears still pouring down his face, he beelines straight for his brother. And just like that, we’re back in the present. My guy doesn’t waste a second once he’s made up his mind.

I couldn't have asked for a better way to end of the season then like this. Three seasons of mid and cookie-cutter shounen later, and we finally get this, a payoff for everything that’s been building up. The way it all ties back to the past seasons is actually insane, like beyond praise-worthy. And yeah, the visuals are still kinda meh, but the effort’s there. Not like action even matters much this arc, it’s all about the characters who built the story up to this point.

Pure greatness. Really hope we do get more seasons of this now. I'm fully hooked.

@IzanaSolos Amen! I could not have said it any better. I have always been a big fan of this series and am glad I stuck with it.
Shiro and Rin have been my favorite characters since the beginning.
I hope we won't have to wait years before the next season comes out. πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•

After 11 episodes of mentally and spiritually torture, this is a healing episode I've been waiting for so long.

Is it worth it? No, but this is the pain, their pain, that I must witness even if I want to avert my eyes from it.

Mephisto doesn't even need to know what'll happen in the future. He triggers the most significant event that'll make him win, in whatever battle he think he's currently competing. He doesn't care for a bit that Rin get a touching re-union with his dad, he just knows that this meeting will make Rin ready to be his weapon (probably alongside with Yukio).

When "time" is on your side, anything is possible.

Easily best season of this series, they showed rin going to yukio in the last scene. So I think there will be a season 6 at least. Manga is on the final arc, I assume season 6 will air 2026 or 2027. We need to wait until the manga ends, hopefully not so long.

Well, that brought Rin full circle. I'm pretty sure he recalled those final moments in that sequence where Shiro dies & he is nearly dragged to Gehenna. How could he ever forget? But here he saw it through other eyes. That final meeting with Shiro was icing on the cake, I suspected he knew who he was along. ( He knows damn well what Mephisto can do)

Makes sense to end there but sadly we are gonna have to wait a long time again for Blue Exorcist to come back. I don’t think there’s enough chapters again for a full season.

What a great season finale tho , Shiro, Yuri, Rin and Yukio really had such a complicated life. This arc was needed to understand them all. Damn watching Shiro raise the twins, asking for help and then seeing parts of the 1st episode again but from Shiro perspective full circle moment. It was too good,
I cried my eyes out so much with that last ‘Thank You’ 😭
This was needed for Rin and I glad he finally found his answer and purpose.

Blue Night Saga has gotta be my favourite arc of Blue Excorist so far. It’s definitely the best season VOLN Studios has adapted well.

I thought they only made the anime to promote the manga. 14 years later since the first season they consistently made sequel.

Now the past stories already laid bare, only left the final arc. I hope they make another sequel until the end.

Looking at other anime sub, many young people nowadays do really care about animation. If it's not Demon Slayer level, it's suck.
Another reason is first season and second season of the anime was long time ago, which maybe hard to find and make it a large entry barrier.

Posting this made me remember the original Shiro voice actor is already dead..

I absolutely love this season so much, I cried throughout the episodes, even the final episode left me tears in my eyes, Rin's last response to his father was so bittersweet, something he always wanted to say after what his experience and show through Shiro's past is all connected. What a way to end the season, extreme cliffhanger: after Rin united with Yukio and it stopped right there. Please make the next season, this anime deserves its complete adaptation. 10/10

Shirou parenting the twins was so ;_; and ofc it must've been so painful for Rin to see the hurtful words he said to Shirou before Shirou died. But it's good that he finally knows that Shirou did so much for him, so he can't just throw his own life away, or think that he shouldn't have been born. It was nice to find out why Shirou taught each of them different things, and the reason why Rin started to cook (and is so good at it!). I've always loved how much he seemed to enjoy cooking. Shirou was so thoughtful to teach Rin how to cook because Rin could learn how to control his strength, and use his brain (in a non-academic way).

When Rin was about the leave past Shirou, it was such an emotional moment (crying again just thinking about), how he was hesitant to go, but was able to call Shirou "dad" one last time, and thanked him as well. Shirou must've known at that moment, but didn't question it T_T Wonder if he remembered that memory later on. I'm glad the answer Rin found was a good one, even though he had to suffer watching the whole past while not being able to do anything. Crazy for them to end the season like this, but at the same time, it was a great (emotional!) conclusion to the arc.

Oh, man. Conversations between characters from the past and characters from the future knowing what's gonna unfold always get me in my heart. Pain.

I'm sitting here trying to figure out what was possibly worse than an iron maiden that got Shiro bleeped when he was talking to Yukio. My mind went to castration or something of that nature but I could be completely off? The sudden bleep caught me so offguard because I just woke up, haha.

This was probably the best ep of the season, or even the series itself. The way everything comes back around to Ep1, seeing Shiro’s POV of everything. Definitely going to pick up the manga now since I haven’t seen an announcement for the next season yet.

@Ventus_S if i remember right a lot of ppl got angry with the anime when they decided to throw some filler episodes at the end of S2 I think? wich all got retconned in the following season. In addition tot hat though this season was rly good it definetly had weaker seasons in between on wich ppl definetly fell off.

Best way to end this season of this and that.
btw Satan is an asshole, the incoming possession of Shirou was hard to accept.

Halfway through the backstory of Yuri and Shirou was interesting, the Yuri story unfortunately was junk later on.
We saw it coming, but I wish there would have been more to it than Yuri was acting highly suicidal for the friendship of demons and mankind.
making babies with Satan and pushing the kids to your would be husband XD

What a way to end the season. We got to see Shiro raising Rin and Yukio through the years, ending with Rin seeing Shiro getting possessed, but this time from a different perspective.

It was pretty fun to see that tie scene from season 1 again lol

After we see Shiro die though, I thought that was a pretty fucked way for Rin to end this journey. Thankfully the key took him exactly where he wanted to go. He saw Shiro again, was able to listen to him talk about him and his brother, ate with him, and was even able to thank him for everything he had done for him. That whole scene hit pretty hard :(

And to end the season, Rin is reunited with his brother after going on his trip to the past to learn the truth about him and Yukio.

And with that, the season is over. What a ride!

There were definitely some things I didn't like about this season, but I really enjoyed it overall! It's an 8/10 for me! It sucks that I'll have to wait who knows how long again just for the next season, but I'm really excited for it! Might have to pick up the manga at this point!

Really looking forward to see what happens next. I mean, what was Yukio doing? He was holding what looked like a wand, a red gun, and something was happening to the helicopter behind him. Was that sand coming down? I have no clue, but I can't wait to see what comes next!

I’m depressed….this season was beautiful. So much learned that we didn’t know before. Journeying through everyone’s backstory, especially my favorite character, Shiro, was amazing!

I liked that we got to see Shiro’s POV the night he died. Everything went back full circle to Season One Episode One. We didn’t understand much back then but now we realize how impactful everything was. Satan was taunting him the whole time, and waited for the right moment to possess him. But Shiro stood on his word that if that were to ever happen again, he would sacrifice himself for the kids. A father’s love.

I’m glad Rin got the answers he needed. Going back to talk to Shiro was a nice touch. Shiro was really their father. He knew them inside and out and wanted to do everything he could to raise them to be strong men who took care of themselves and others. I wonder if Shiro knew that it was Rin the whole time they were talking, but that “Thank You,” made me shed a tear.

It wasn’t easy seeing how everyone cursed him and his brother, but Shiro & Yuri’s love made him who he is today.

I’ll be recovering until the next season, whenever that will be.
