| LET'S FUCKING GO MELT! He showed the fuck up like I hoped for, still don't like Kamoshida though, bro needs to be humbled like Melt. He also showed Yoriko-sensei. You can never hate hardwork man. At this point now, how can you hate Melt with his growth, even Aqua showed a rare smile at him. Sweet Today is now a thing of the past. I love what they're doing man, it really feels like I'm watching a play and I'm right there with the audience, my only wish is that I'd have a bigger monitor so it feels even more immersive. |

| Good redemption arc for Melt. He worked his ass off even when everyone was expecting nothing from him, good job. This backstory kinda explains why he protected Minami in last episode, no matter what people said, he probably got groomed. |

| Btw did you guys notice Aqua actually break the 4th wall unintentionally this episode? His underdog surprise the audience theory actually applies to us too lol So Melt not only surprises the audiences in the show, it surprises us too using the same theory from Aqua. |
| Seeing the first few minutes of this episode from the perspective of the audience was a nice touch. So far, the play started out really well and was enjoyable. From there, it only got better and better. Melt was the main focus of this episode and seeing him work his backside off is commendable, even though he is the weak point of the play in terms of his acting skills. Thanks to his hard work in his resolve in getting better as well as taking Aqua's advice on board, he was able to perform a stunt that left the audience gobsmacked before erupting into a huge cheer. Not only that, but the animation towards the end of the episode was a thing of beauty. Doga Kobo went for it here and I love it so much. With the early part of the stage play being this good, I can't wait to see how the rest of the play will unfold. =) |
| I never cared much for Melt in the manga but my god, this was just beautiful to look at. They really made me feel his emotions about being lower than everyone else and dragging the play down. Doga Kobo is doing the manga the justice it deserves for sure. |

| The Tokyo Blade 2.5D stage play OFFICIALLY begins, and similar to Episode 1's anime-original opening where it sets the stage for the play to come, it's done here the same, but better and improved as the play makes its waves, setting up the story and plot for its named arc separated by various Acts. In the process before its play, despite Kamoshida's womanizer antics, he's a remarkable actor who understands 2.5D stage plays to a T, though Melt falls off on the wayside according to producer Sumiaki, but that Kindaichi trusted on his gut that he will pull it through. Against Kamoshida, Melt Narushiga is a rather amateur actor who's only known for his good looks, and one would say that he fares worse than the rest of the cast. But through Aqua's hard advice, he's able to perform above and beyond, made even better of his unpredictability from the level of his incompetence. And in trying to understand the rewritten script, as well as reading Abiko-sensei's manga for inspiration, he's made to be the underdog, reaching out for his own star and fulfilling that ambition from deep within his heart of what it means to be an actor. This is Melt's redemption story of character growth, right here. Doga Kobo outclassed the manga in just about every other way. Splendid, superb, outstanding, IT'S PURE COLORMATIC CINEMA. |

| I can’t say I loved the Tokyo Blade thing taking up a good chunk of the episode (mostly because I don’t particularly care about the fictional manga it’s adapting), but I can at least appreciate the effort the animators put into making it lively while also incorporating elements from the stage itself. Probably my least favourite ep of the show so far, but still not bad by any means (OnK is a high bar anyway). I look forward to more of the backstage side of things :) |

@spartan112g That's how I felt too. Unless of course said character is going to be important to the story going forward. I very much feel like this current arc is 'stuff that happens to Aqua while he's getting into showbiz' trying to find the culprit of Ai's death. But people in this thread are raving and cannot contain their excitement so I'm guessing maybe some of these side characters are important?
