Fuka's talk about Tomozaki's world taking more colors and appreciating the person who added those was just too wholesome. Good to see a compromise has been found between staying true to oneself and using skills to accomplish set goals.Really enjoyed this series, bit hard to watch the purposely cringy moments but on the other side interesting to see Tomozaki's progress

Decent finale to what has been a fairly average show, overall.

As mentioned by a user above (#151), the conversation between Kikuchi-san and Tomozaki was heartwarming and the best moment of the show for me. To be honest, I like the premise of the show but the execution fell apart, and that discussion there could've been the close for a different stream of happenings. That's pretty much what hit me in the end there.

To think our main character doing good in a part time job, got to hand it to Hinami-san.

5/10 from me. A quick search from someanithing suggests that the Bu-Ray/DVD sales weren't impressive by any means so chances for a Season 2 are low, I imagine. Quite indifferent to the series anyway, so no biggies from my side.

This started out so great, but the ending was just way too weak. They focused on too many characters, but the runtime wasn't long enough to justify that. It's a good set up for the objectives, but it made the ending that much weaker cause it feels like you're just watching a checklist.

And Japan really needs to re-evaluate their romance genre, the fact that I can get more romance in a Bishop VN is getting really sad.

And so this show ends with the compromise between Fumiya and Aoi. It's obvious there's still more that the series wanted to tell but this is a good enough stopping point for the anime.

Major props to Fumiya for a total 180 on the finale where now he's the one initiating the challenge to Aoi instead of the other way around. Mizusawa and Fuuka were great side charas too but unfortunately we dont get to see what happened in the end to Izumi and Nakamura.

I just might read the novels someday as Fumiya's journey to escape being a bottom-tier character is quite fascinating

Had to drop a full 2 points during the last episodes. Not a bad series at all, but that Aoi grill is really insufferable. Gotta give it to her she "rescued" Tomozaki from her geeky ways tho.

6/10 for me.

Not the best anime out there but pretty good. They gave a uplifting message on how to live life and everyone ended on a good note.

Ironically, the girl who liked books was the only one true to herself even though she never had fun in the real world.

Listen the show does have some cringe moments and the plot may seem simple, but it’s a great and wholesome anime that teachers the value of bettering yourself and helping those around you, I recommend everyone to take a watch and trust me you’ll enjoy it

Pretty decent finale but nothing amazing. I think it could've had more oomph if Hinami & Tomozaki had debated more about their ideas on winning at life, which would've inevitably given us more of an insight into why Hinami thinks about socialising the way she does.

Nice, decently wholesome refresher. Liked the artstyle, and made me wanna read the manga. Yet I usually don't like slice of life.

this was nice. i was wondering when this mask thing of aoi will be tackled and i'm happy that it was touched upon. we should see more developments in that department in second season.

overall nice to see tomozaki's character development.

7.5/10 but i will round it off and rate 8/10. we have good 6 months wait before season 2.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.
Feeling half happy, half sad.

Glad he realized a solid halfway point of reasoning. The lesson it was trying to teach was good too nothing I don't disagree with.
Except when they talked and it sorta resolved itself so easily was kinda weird. Rushed or something didn't feel natural how she just agreed so easily.

Great show overall

This show randomly came on my plan to watch and man I am so glad it did. I absolutely adored the girls in this anime and the main girls were written great. Usually girls in SOL anime like this are forgettable when you move on to the next anime, but somehow these girls stayed on my mind. Even though I am probably 10 years older than the MC is now, I reallly relate to him a lot. I totally wanted a romance option with either Kikuchi or Hinami but we got neither sadly, but I heard there is a s2 coming out so hopefully something will happen then. I think watching this in Dub elevated the experience for me. 8/10.

I really liked this anime and I think the finale is great even though I am not a big fan of Fuuka. Just like I was saying in the previous ep, you need to find a balance in everything and the way Fumiya is approaching Aoi’s training now seems like that balance.

I am happy that s2 is coming soon, the wait you guys watching in winter 2021 had to endure would have killed me 😅

Now, it's like the student has become the teacher. In a lot of ways, Hinami seems to be in a tougher spot than Tomozaki when it comes to her outlook on life. It just hit me that we really don't know much about her life outside of school.

And as for Tomozaki's next goal, lose his virginity.

The drama between them was really fake ;/ I didn't even get much of sense from the first part they were talking about.. like author put some random great speeches and mixed them together to sound cool.. well not first time in anime.. at least the latter part was normal but it had little connection to first part..

the talk with Kikuchi was very good and nice, that metaphor about colors in life was great, but also not rare

the anime was still fun to watch, I liked the story and locations made from real photos
OP and ED must be better in second season..

this is also first time I do not know which heroine is best :O Maybe Izumi? No one actually has 100% first place for me.. and I always have my fav..
maybe it is big plus for this anime? Maybe new girl will be my best?

the characters are original and very realistic sometimes, I could relate to ppl I know/knew
(づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ ちゅっ ちゅっ キス (´。✪ω✪。`)

I hate it when anime/manga that I enjoyed ends, especially when there could be much longer plot and when I love main heroine :P

I wish I had magic glasses that let me see real world in anime colors ;)

Just finished this season-- and the OVAs. I appreciate it a lot for sticking by the concept for almost, if not every episode. This could have easily fallen into being just another harem/romcom entry, but instead, it offered an interesting idea and utilized it well. Here's hoping the sequel is handled the same way as well. Looking forward to it.

Gonna miss seeing my boy Tomozaki, he changed so much in these 12 episodes, and even made up with Hinami in a gamer philosophy debate lol, it was really cool tho, I really liked that scene. Also loved how he opened up to Kikuchi, which led to her opening up to him, very sweet stuff. I can definitely say this was an underdog show this season, I know some of the reviews are mixed but I felt it was a really good watch, excited for the OVAs and hope it gets a season 2. Also hope to see some of that Narita girl they showed near the end, potential good waifu lol, speaking of, Mimimi was definitely my favorite, liked her the most. Lastly, my Hinami theory ended up being wrong, which is good because it wasn’t a great theory.
@TheColonel76
Nice going past me, you wrote shorter and more digestible posts than the current me lol. But yeah I finally finished this rewatch, and damn it was better than I remembered, I had a lot of fun with it once again. This final episode in particular is a great finale too, and as good as Hinami and Tomozaki’s debate was, I found myself loving the moment between Kikuchi and Tomozaki more this time, I feel that scene encapsulates the entire show perfectly, and it also put Kikuchi in the number 1 spot tied with Mimimi for me this time, which was different from before based on this post from nearly 3 years ago.

And one thing I noticed on this rewatch that I didn’t before was how good the ost is, it’s damn good, almost too good for what the show is but it fits all the same lol. And speaking of music, this show holds a special place for me not just for the show itself, but it was also the start of my love for DIALOGUE+ which is strong to this day, their OP is super fun and fits the show very well, and that ED is one of my favorites of all time, it invokes incredible nostalgia now too. But with that, here’s hoping Season 2 can reach the heights this one did for me on both watches, episode 3 comes out today so I look forward to seeing what it holds.

Looks like Tomozaki is moving forward. Hinami is impressed that Tomozaki can use his Tackfarm analogy to convince her of his goals in life. Can't wait for S2.

Kikuchi best girl... NOT. She's best waifu
True ending = Aoi Hinami.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Okay, good thing Aoi remains to be his mentor in this game called life. It's not the best but it's life affirming.

The ending was a little weird. Tomozaki turned the tables on Aoi by becoming a mentor to her (though he also continues to follow her orders with his own desires thrown in). Maybe it was just the execution? This last episode just didn't feel as fulfilling as I expected. Also, the very end was basically just like a musick video. Either way, good anime, and I'm excited for season 2.

Surprisingly good. Good story about self improvement and treating life like it's a video game is an interesting concept.

This was a great episode and just the turning point that was needed for the relationship to grow. Since the beginning I always thought Hinami was playing the part too much and didn't really like her attitude. I thought she needed to change as much as Tomozaki did! So it's nice that he challenged her. I particularly found it amusing how he was doing all her movements and loving how he gave her some of her own medicine (though no mean comments).

Kikuchi was as likable as always but after the color comment, it feels like their interactions may move more toward friends. Still, she was vital in reasoning out his feelings and I thought it was cute how they both shared the "no color" world viewpoint.

All in all, the show was entertaining but these shows are always a little strange as it's more about character growth with a hint of romance. We got a few blushes I guess? Still, it takes time to build things up, so I'll just have to see how the next season goes..
