After almost 25 years, renowned author Tow Ubukata's LN of Bye Bye, Earth gets its adaptation...maybe a complete one, regardless of if you refer to the 2000 (illustrated by Yoshitaka Amano) or the most recent 2007 version (illustrated by Kim Hyung-Tae).

ASCA's OP is decent, though it'll take a while to get used to it. Kevin Penkin's music is still outright great.

The girl, known as Belle Lablac, she's the only human being in a world of anthropomorphic animals, and someone whom the locals call her "Featureless" for her unorthodox personality, helping the fiends tackle issues like a dragon octopus going rampage at Lake Caster, who actually lost its way home and has to struggle attacking its surroundings.

Her living together with Enola (instructor) Sian Loveluck as a way to live amongst an Earth where only anthropomorphic animals exist, and with her being the only outlier, as well as acquiring the sword known as the Runding, it's been her world ever since. And the only way that Belle would ever know of her origins, is to merge with Sian's blood, thereby losing her memories of him as his final lesson, after teaching her how to use Runding to each Erehwon (meaning Utopia).

You can't dispute a fantasy work like Tow Ubukata does, especially when it comes to his early works like Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor and Mardock Scramble, to name a few. Bye Bye, Earth, defintely has an old-school fantasy feel to it, but Liden Films has a lot to pick up on their production.

Still, this ride may feel like one of admonishment, but I'm going into this with low expectations.

From the person who was the script writer for the Pyscho-Pass series, every season that wasn't the first. And with music by Kevin Penkin, this has some potential.

Right off the bat we got that Kevin Penkin OST as beautiful as ever. OST aside, really interesting world off the bat as well. World full of animals, to which they just start being racist to ol' girl over here. Ffs, already hate them. Animation looked decent for LIDENFILMS ig. Then we got typical mentor character voiced by Junichi Suwabe. Dude is everywhere nowadays lols. Not complaining. As usual he's killing it.

Glad that at the very least her mentor isn't racist towards her and is willing to put her in the right direction to find people like her and not be critiqued for being a human for once. Power system also looks pretty interesting. Ofc, to prove herself she has to beat her mentor. Nothing we haven't seen before. OST was banging during the entire fight scene. Now it's just her and that sword against the world.

ASCA's OP is a banger and a half. She just doesn't miss.

Decent enough start. Nothing we haven't seen before, but again, has the chance to be unqiue.

Fairly simple and straightforward start but not too shabby. Interesting take on the world where the human is the odd one out as she tries to find her own kind in this world of anthropomorphic animals. Kevin Penkin's got quite a lot of presence in this scene, whether in Spice and Wolf, Tower of God and now 'Bye Bye, Earth' as well. I've not enjoyed Ubukata's script involvements he has had with shows in the past much but as the author for the books for this, hopefully this turns out to be a worthwhile watch.

I'm so used to anime that feed me all the data I want to know so when I encounter the anime that I don't know what happened in the past, what's happening right now, and what will happened in the future, I've to use my brain much more than other anime.

With that said, I'm pleased by so many hot kemonomimi. There are full furry people too but they don't seem to play important roles.

Solid first episode. Combat animation was solid, world seems interesting, story seems set up well even if perhaps a little cliche to start off. Production seemed all around solid. Might be a good one!

I haven't read the LNs or Manga... but is her name being Belle a reference to Beauty and the Beast? Also, did she kill Sian? Why else would he erase her memory of him if the final test wasn't her killing him?

I enjoyed the first episode, though I was a little put back by the whole over emphasis on the girl sleeping with her sword, and the whole final showdown with her sensei seems overly troped out.

That was a lot of things happening in just the first eps.Pretty unique character designs than in your usual fantasy series.Still trying to wrap my head around the worldbuilding with a lotta information thrown.Feel like it couldve been slower paced and the duel between them wouldve been more emotional. All that aside, excited to see where this goes.

Never seen the novel / manga before, so there was no expectation, and it was actually a good way to start this anime.

it's quite interesting, a human child born out of a stone / crystal in a world where Beastman is the normal.

There are lots of little hints, about the world being an Utopia, but from the images seems like there was a major war that ruined all the surface area on most places.

MC have OP strength, and a magic sword that calls out to her, but all she cares about is finding other humans like her.

Interesting...

Oh yeah, and the hand drawn animation and voice acting is top notch, that was unexpected as well.

I wasn't sure because of how generic it looks, but it was one of the stronger premieres this season. Hope the rest of the series can successfully build on that and keep the momentum.

Animation is pretty good. Solid fight scene in the first episode, along with enough worldbuilding so we kinda know what's going on in the world. Good introduction to the MC. My only complaint is how they skipped past the instructor so quickly.

What kind of crack are people smoking to put it at a 6.7 rating at the moment of writing this reply??? Deserves way higher!

Liked this premiere, more than the other magic-action-adventure thing I've tried so far, Wistoria: Wand and Sword.

Mainly the worldbuilding potential and the more subdued tone. The art and animation is decent, but it kind of felt like it was struggling to keep up with its own storyboard.

And the music, of course, which was very easy to recognize as the guy who did Made In Abyss.

A little cheesy at first, but there's some good lore to be had here, so I hope the world building continues. I'd like to see more discovery and mystery so if it stays that way it should be really good.

Been waiting for this and yep a good start with interesting world and setting. Quite interested to know why Belle is the only human and everyone else are beastmen. I could think of a few possibilities like isekai/ different planet/ evolution of everyone else except Belle cause she was stuck in a cryo sleep for long and such but won't think too much about it and wait for the reveal. Animation/visuals were good, liked the aura effect at the end there. Sad about the end if the episode though as she'll forget about him but her journey begins from here on. Excited to see it. Music was good too. Didn't know/forgot Kevin Penkin was doing music for this but the moment I heard the music I could tell it was him. Wonder if this will adapt the entire LN as it's just 4 volumes long. Maybe one cour will be a bit short. Also wonder why Belle has short hair in anime when she has long hair in the LN volume 1 illustration. Maybe she'll grow it out from now.

Not sure why the score is currently sitting at 6.8, maybe all the furry haters???

Joking aside, this was probably one of the best starts to a show this season. Interesting world building, nice art (no poor quality CG), and solid voice acting.

I feel they killed the instructor off a little early but that kind of makes sense given that Belle starts her journey as a nomad by defeating him. Didn’t really feel anything from him dying though, maybe that was by design.

As long as the show quality is maintained and the story is good this will probably be one of the best anime this season.

Ok so the only human being born from a rock? in a world of furry's. Poor girl it must be scary living in a world of furry's. I hope she finds another human or someone. Also RIP her teacher/father though really glad they didn't do father figure x daughter because that shit is gross. He was a good teacher probably but really glad he died so she'll find someone else to love besides her literal father figure. Still what kind of dumb lesson is that? Kill you teacher/father and forget all your memories of them? like why? Anyways I feel it would've been better to show at least one more episode with the master because we literally just get introduced to him and then he dies like what? I feel he should be way more important than this. I think this should've been done in episode 4 or 5 probably. Give us a few episodes of them traveling and stuff or just living and then she decides to leave then he dies.

I also really wished the furry I mean people of this world actually looked more distinct than just having some fur and cat ear/tails. Like have beast people actually look like beasts you know?

I haven't understood much of the plot, but the graphics (animation, character design, world setting) seem of high level, not top tier but more or less on Wistoria level, maybe one step below, but definitely very good quality.
As a tomboy fan, I like the MC girl, don't know what to expect from this series but I'm very curious.

That's kind of a harsh system, where once you decide to begin your adventuring journey you get a curse, get memories of your teacher deleted, *and* you have to kill them.

It's actually unsustainable, assuming some adventurers get killed before taking on an apprentice, the number of adventurers in the world could only ever decrease. Maybe that's a more recent development?

So far, it looks like this is the how this season that will be arbitrarily hated on and rated lower than many shows that are significantly worse than it. Not that it's super innovative or amazing, but as first episodes go, it was entertaining, had solid production, some cliche bits but overall seemingly a more interesting fantasy world than msot of the generic fantasy fair we get. Can't ask for much more in a first episode.

meh I couldn't get into this. Nothing clicked at all. Music was good, but it wasn't able to make me feeling anything for what was happening on screen. I imagine the light novel is more interesting. Shame they didn't go with the Range Murata art style from the novels either. That volume cover was more interesting than this whole episode to me.

Alone, and Nowhere? Is this supposed to be a reference to something else besides being written backwards?

Action, music, OP being used as the ED for 1st ep, animation, cute protagonist girl...everything is top-notch...I got no complaints about anything, although the story is a little weird and hard to get into.

From the looks of it, there aren't going to be any other humans. Maybe the furries will love it. I (unfortunately?) don't fall under that camp.

I get the vibe that the feeling of being treated poorly as an "other" or an animal ironically by animal-people, is going to get stale fast. In fact, I'm already tired of it, and it was only the first episode. They're going to have to give us something else if I'm going to continue with this series.

Also, that kid that got pushed got what deserved.

Didn't really have any expectations one way or another but I really enjoyed this one. That opening battle with the squid-thing was fantastic. I was shocked she didn't get in trouble with the townspeople considering thanks to her it got absolutely leveled and the food got contaminated with ink. Destroyed the village to save the village. But they still paid her so I guess it's all good.

Love the premise, the music, the action, and the visuals. Pacing was great too, 20+ minutes came and went like nothing. Plot I was a little confused why she had to kill the master and the reason for the curse for her to be a nomad. I had to rewatch feeling like I missed something along the way.

Normally the protagonist is a human defending beast people or other demi humans from bigoted humans so this is an interesting reversal. Hopefully she doesn't find other humans too soon.

hella banger pilot ep, this gave me the same hope/hype with Shokei Shoujo's 1st episode, with a measure of uniqueness, worldbuilding seems promising, mysteries are set up, MC motivation isn't some boy scout save the world/help people nor it is vague explore/become champion. She seeks a home, somewhere, perhaps a people that look like her and accepts her.

little nitpick, elona = alone and erehwon = nowhere is kinda silly, but oh well.

seriously, worldbuilding is refreshing, like, what are these flower monsters, the weatherwheel lake village is beautiful despite being a one-off location (that ring of rainbow flowers tower/city hall 😳), nomads are some kinda adventurers' guild? Can't wait to be immersed in this world, see its mysteries answered
