The Suicide Squad - Laughing from embarassment, so cringey I could die. 4/10

The Endless - Yes, watching this indeed felt endless (and pointless). 4/10

The Homesman - Painful and slow, like getting your intestines pulled out. 4/10

I shall call this selection "story? substance? who needs that shit?"

I think it may be the worst in the franchise.

Just watched Yonggary '99 (also known as Reptilian) on VCD.

It's a notoriously bad Godzilla clone, and it very much deserves that reputation imo.

- It's hilariously bad
- Very cheesy acting
- Beyond awful CGI
- Random stunts & explosions for no apparent reason
- Plot doesn't make sense

Makes Pulgasari look like a masterpiece

The Prince of Egypt? What did those jews learned after being freed from Egypt? Absolutely nothing, just like the Bible suggested.

Learned nothing about oppression for like 5,000 years. Turned into bullies, usurpers, corporate sellouts or worse after all that time Moses set them free. Known to worship false dieties, idols, etc like the Bible said. Now they worship money and think they are their own gods with all that guap they didn't earn by themselves. Guap that kind of doesn't belong to those people that happen to be corporate sellouts now.

They kind of became the enemy they feared most for thousands of years, the Pharoah. Just look at the Rothschild Family (said to be the criminal gang that helped Communist China instigate beef against Tibetans and Chinese christians) all those other tycoons. Truth be told, common folk are still sick of money people which will never change.

Again, the jews learned nothing from oppression as well as history all this time. Especially long before Hitler messed up Moses's ilk real good. Are his people that he freed from Egypt special? No!

Why would Jehova even want them to be free? So they can play their sick, sadistic games of rampage and monopoly after all that time?

Is it a good movie? Uh-duh!

I rewatched the first X-men, hadn't seen it since I was a kid so I hardly remembered anything. it was alright. I think I expected a bit too much out of it, wanted something like the Sam Raimi Spiderman movies, like goofy and fun. It had some of that but felt like it dragged on in a lot of parts. I'll probably still watch the second one too though.

Also watched Judas and the Black Messiah and it was great.

I watched Gamera Vs The Hentai Tentacle Monst-...uhm, i mean Viras

I've recently found a Showa era Gamera Blu-ray box set that I'm working my way through. Before this set I'd only seen maybe 3 or 4 Gamera movies (all Showa ones), but can't remember all the ones i saw exactly, but hadn't liked any of them, as to me Gamera is just a cheaply done Godzilla clone (which I think is undeniable).
Watched the first movie and thought it was horrible. Gamera Vs Barugon I'd already seen before and skipped, because I remember not liking it. Gamera Vs Gyaos was actually okay, although I couldn't really make sense of how the humans were trying to defeat Gyaos.

So this is the fourth movie, and I genuinely couldn't believe the amount of stock footage from the previous 3 movies they included here, it must amount to like 20 minutes or so?! and it doesn't tie-up at all with the rest of the sequences, they even resorted to colour tinting to purple the footage of the first Gamera movie.
They also pretty much show in its entirety the final fight between Gamera Vs Barugon. I think at least the miniatures work is good, the stuff in space was good, Viras is a cool Kaiju. But the plot really falls away, as the fate of the entire Earth is in the hands of 2 kids, and nobody else is doing anything, even though the military chiefs say that nothing they tried worked against Gamera (who was temporarily brainwashed by the Viras aliens), even though you don't actually see the military fight Gamera in whatever stock footage they tried using. This movie is just one big mess, I was thoroughly bored watching it.
I think Gamera Super Monster may actually be slightly better than this, and I do actually plan to rewatch that to compare it to this.

Monster (2023)

Very good Japanese drama that starts of as a mystery and reveals what it's really about towards the end. The director's best film is still Shoplifters however.

I watched Civil War (2024) in the theater just.

It was morbidly fascinating, and hopefully not a vision of the future, definitely made me want to be a war covering photo journalist even more, but I'm just messed up and curious like that.

The complete lack of plot was both annoying and exciting, as you really didn't know what was gonna happen next (or what was happening currently even). A lady who left the theater close to me was actually complaining about the lack of plot, she called it a "videogame but with people" and she kinda right honestly... some hints would have been nice.

I enjoyed it immensely, but it definitely isn't going to be for everyone.

I watched maurice (1987)

It was pretty good, but of course, the aristocratic mannerisms of the 1900s may feel weird from the modern lens, nonetheless, it managed to tell a realistic and impactful story.

Brothers - One of my favourite dramas, to rewatch preferably in winter. The original Danish version is good as well though I've only seen it once. A well-acted, believable and moving story about PTSD and family, not sappy nor boring. Absolutely love Natalie and Jake, but Tobey's the highlight, terrific performance. Shame he isn't more active nowadays. 8/10

The Turning - Super average gothic chiller with the usual large mansion, creepy children and... no ending. Miss Sigismondi is better as a music video artist. 5/10

Spawn - I enjoy trashy b movies as the next person, but there's a limit. Filthy, annoying and unfunny. 4/10

I saw Civil War. Some very unique cinematography and sound design. Loved the OST and the sudden gunshots made me jump every time with how loud they are. My brother took me so I thought this was gonna be a PG-13 war movie… I was super wrong. I felt like I got shocked and desensitized at the same rate as the main girl Jessie. Loved it. Probably the most intense movie I’ve seen recently, god that scene with the guy asking the characters what states they were from had me SWEATING

One Cut of the Dead (2017)

Brilliant horror comedy from Japan. The plot is best left mostly a mystery, but I can say it's about an obsessive director and his film crew shooting a zombie film on a remote location when they're suddenly attacked by real zombies. Stick the with the movie to the end, it takes a few twists and turns until then. Highly recommend.

Anyone But You (2023)

I had the sweet pleasure of watching this “rom-com” movie and holy smoly is it AWFUL IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE. The comedy is so awful and forced at least 70% of the time, it’s like looking at a failed parody. No one is going to laugh at the two leads bickering at each other or the side characters trying to interfere and consider it “comedy”, even if comedy is 100% subjective because forced comedy is bad comedy.

Man, I love drama that doesn’t even make sense from the very beginning and continues to not make any coherent logic as the film togethers, because that is exactly what happened here. It is ridiculous how it began with a “failed first date, causing a sour relationship between basically two strangers” to a “the two leads have to get together in order for them to satisfy their parents at a wedding yet they also have to deal with their exes” to basically a full on confession at the end as the two “deVeLoP rOManTIc FEelInGs fOr eAch OTHeR wiTh tHeiR sHoRTcoMInGs”, either there’s something I don’t understand or this makes their romance so full of inconsistencies and nonsensical development that I must’ve won the lottery for some of the worst romance I could have ever seen.

And don’t get me STARTED ON THE CHARACTERIZATION BECAUSE DO I HAVE A LOT TO SAY ABOUT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU. Every single one of these characters are so lacking in depth and personality, it’s almost amusing. No one changes, they all act like a puppet that never changes until THE VERY END OF THE MOVIE. They don’t even feel like PEOPLE, THEY FEEL LIKE A PLOT DEVICE. IN A ROM-COM FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. Everyone is a walking contribution of themselves, I don’t even know what to think. Oh and the whole subplot of the female lead quitting law school because “sHe dOesN’t kNow wHaT tO DO iN LiFE anD Is A DiSASteR” is stupid. Also the female lead being horribly clumsy and leaving her ex because “we don’t fight enough”, whoever the writer is that decided that was a good idea, I’m genuinely going to slug you in the face.

Well, this movie was a complete and utter insult to rom-coms. This entire film is stupid. A complete waste of time, since it was a nearly two hour film. I tried my best to remain as fair as possible across the entire film yet all of these tropes and flaws are so incomprehensible that I can hardly believe it myself. If anyone watches it after me, I send my best wishes for you.

Kara no Kyoukai Movie 6: Boukyaku Rokuon

Uses Asaka's shameless acceptance of how out of love's control she is to foretell the final film, showing how immature Mikiya must be to think he could consciously qualify & control his feelings for Shiki. Made this series of thrillers feel human.

In most ways an average kind of dumb 90s' comedy, but it has plenty of funny moments that will make anyone laugh. Great performance by Chris Farley who died much too early.

Just a very persistent lowbrow take in relation to most of the usual substitutions. You are not special, many have come before you, and many will come after you. And nobody will care.

I watched Oppenheimer for the first time recently and it was better than I expected. Some normie who made a thread about it around here as of late is just hating. Hopefully, his girlfriend slowly opened her eyes about how good the movie is.

Christopher Nolan hasn't disappointed me that easily, as usual, good job!

It's worth watching as long as it isn't a sequel, a romcom, a remake or generic capeshit. Those movies featuring "strong and independent" women make me sick. Oppenheimer, on the other hand, is of the best Hollywood made in a long time.

I know sex and action sell better, but this historical movie is my dessert now.

I finally found time to watch Love Exposure directed by Sion Sono.

A bit overrated but it’s an interesting and creative concept done well for the most part. For such a stupid sounding plot, I was surprised as to the amount of depth the story had. Way too long though. 6.9/10

I saw that movie in the cinema with three drunk teenagers sitting in front of me. Literally every five seconds for the whole long ass runtime, they’d scream out loud “WE WANT TOBEY MAGUIRE! Where THE FUCK is TOBEY!!!??!”. Even after his 5 minute cameo came, it was “WE WANT TOBEY BACK!!!”. Kinda wanted to bash their heads together tbh.

^ lol, maybe they were expecting The Great Gatsby (wishful thinking). Or, I guess being wasted is the only way to get through that shitfest.

Temple Grandin - Claire Danes strikes again with her insane acting chops. Finally a film that is well-made, intelligent AND enjoyable all around, it's a rarity. Not a boring biopic in the slightest, also shows you don't need vegan propaganda to pass the message that something can and must be done. Mandatory watch for all those who 1) are unfamiliar with autism and 2) think lowly of cattle. 8/10

La Abuela - Nothing spectacularly creepy or super original. An average Spanish horror among Spanish horrors, too much slow and predictable but still watchable and unsettling. 5/10

Cursed - Typical tame J-horror, not scary or entertaining, with amateurish acting, directing and effects, comatose pacing and a mess of a supernatural "story". Only positive notes: atmospheric music, decent creepiness at times and almost no jump scares. 4/10

Thanksgiving (2023)

Oddly hilarious, yet one of the most forgettable horror movies I’ve seen yet. No one in this movie stood out, and much of the suspense was unsurprisingly predictable. I will give points for the kills though, some of them were creative due to the thanksgiving factor like the oven kill. It’s a somewhat enjoyable movie for the giggles and all of that, but for a horror movie, it doesn’t stand out.
