I think I'm going to read the manga. This anime certainly had an interesting story.

I can't imagine an anime this niche getting another season, and I wish the story was better, but I think this anime may eventually get an underground cult following.

Also props for killing of the MC in an anime! It loses points by making every character unlikeable and unrelatable, but I'm down to see more of nose-less girl putting in work on other ninja. 7 out of 10 anime.

Ok, this is officially the thrashiest pile of burning garbage I ever had the displeasure to witness. I sat through it, it was a challenge to myself to see if I was strong enough to actually get this through, as well as a challenge with like minded people to see who would fold first. But now that this is over though I still have an open question: Why? Why did the author who wrote this not throw the script into the bin after he woke up from his alcohol and possible drug induced feverish nightmare? Why did the head of this animation studio think this would be a good thing to animate? Was he blackmailed into doing this? Had his wife and children been kidnapped and he could only get them back after this was animated? Was that the case as well for the president of the TV station that chose to broadcast this?

I thought I had seen my fair amount of complete and utter garbage, even in this season, but little did I know that Under Ninja would come around the corner in it's half invisible suit, asscheeks hanging out, stick a katana between my ribs and finish it off with some good ol' breast milk into the eye by your beloved local hobo. I am honestly baffled how this was ever made, even considered to be made. I would give this "thing", because actually calling it an anime would be an insult to everything else ever made, a minus 10, hell even minus 100. But since there is no such option I will have to settle with one measly point, given reluctantly.

This is the worst thing I have ever seen that had the audacity to call itself anime!
@Nihiluskun ......I mean, this is still a much better anime than Big Order. It didn't ruin anything like Promised Neverland season 2. I would say this anime weirdo mid at worst. But what do I know? Apparently Tokyo Revengers is a great anime according to the majority of anime fans, despite my hatred for it.

What a stupid ending. I'm impressed this show strung me along for 12 episodes. I guess the horrendous storytelling and pointless jumping around actually did make it seem more interesting than it wound up being. Maybe this one got screwed by its budget and it actually did have a decent story to tell but this was a truly terrible adaptation then. Like, why was Kuro the main character if he was just going to be a boring monotone shit the whole time, have zero development, and then die like a total idiot while accomplishing absolutely nothing?! What the hell was the point of this stupid anime?!

Pretty good show.

I don't see how a continuation could match S1, as it really was kinda centred around Kurou.

Bitter ending.
Onikobe and Kuro eliminated.

The truth is, this series was a pleasant surprise, there was never a defined side of good and bad so it was unpredictable. Furthermore, the characters' actions were raw and realistic, contrary to what is normally seen.

And the last scenes are blown mind

I give it a 9/10
@Yume-08 i'm following the manga and still don't know what side is good and bad, confusing but entertaining af!

my respect to the author, it takes guts to kill the MC in the end, really.
i think kuro was done by his invisible suit, he relied on it to stop or lower yamada's sword attack. unfortunately it was totally useless. I see here a big difference in quality compered to the UN suit.
definitely needs a sequel cause we still don't know much about the UN organisation and their conflict with the NIN.
@ilias23 based act from him fr! but the clone theory is high, really interesting to find out

Ninjas in space...
anyways, i'm conflicted. the show itself was well done, but idk how i feel about the way things panned out. introducing all these people central to the plot and just killing them all. might as well have just started from the end and had a different show.

Did you learn nothing from I Am a Hero? Don't get attached to anyone. Nah, I get you, but still. If they go on with another season, this won't be the last time the author screws with you.

Nobody complaining how the plot bit about the suits being space-ready was a complete ass-pull? I guess it kind of gets a pass because most of the other tech gizmos were dumb anyway. That was such a lame excuse to have them realise UN's target.

What else to say ... they toned down the violence and the gore quite a bit compared to the manga. Also: The anime still looks like ass in comparison.

@Dickegrobe It's a welcome change of pace from a lot of what I consider to be modern, fluffy nonsense. Still, losing someone here or there is one thing but it's gonna take a while to digest all of THAT. Hope for S2.

A decent ending. Not many animanga have the guts to kill of the mc mid story! But this show never really cared about following any rules from the start.

The review is really tough for me. It was defenetly a bad show. Too many characters, super confusing plot, bad pacing, the attempts to be funny were mediocre at best...

But somehow, I didn't really dislike it as much as it's usually the case with shows I consider bad. I just can't explain why. The world-building maybe? It was impossible to see through, but I can't deny the potential. Or maybe the good ending song leaving me with a better feeling than I should have?

I'll give it 4/10. Might be biased, but I simply can't put it among all those shows at 3/10 I just want to forget. Perhaps I'll check out the manga - either to find out why it's good or to show myself there really is no reason to like this show xD

A bit of a disappointment especially in comparison to the manga. This climax where all the pivotal events intercut into each other worked in the manga largely due to the surreal tone and photorealism of all the gross details. The anime heavily tuned down Kuro's death scene in addition to other pivotal scenes, which ultimately became a disservice to the effectiveness of the show.

@StateofOhayo No, I really get you. He's building up characters (and seemingly effortlessly so) that are either likeable or just fun to watch for their antics and all, or both! And then just kills them off almost as if to deliberately fuck the audience over. In this case, it seems even more in-your-face because Kuro (as one example) was introduced like an actual mc (in contrast to the wimpy excuse of a human being which was the kind-of mc of I am a Hero, which also got to live), but the author did it in I am a Hero too (I'm ignoring that the concept of death itself was kind of contested there ... but it is here, too (probably)).

So, they quickly replaced the too-quickly deceased MC with his twins/siblings with almost identical personalities, thus keeping his death as a surprise twist and not introducing time manipulation and other overly forced excuses?

@Ashhk On the one hand, his death makes sense for the plot if they later avenge him. On the other hand, I have to admit that it was too cruel and seemed like an overly cynical death of a good guy in the spirit of Game of Thrones.

@Trimethylglycine How long have you been watching anime or reading manga? This conventionally naturalistic art style combined with a very violent plot has been a fairly well-known subgenre of action manga for many years. Baki, Inuyashiki, for example.

@RobertBobert Well this is actually why I genuinely felt something for it, which is good, both unexpected and cruel, something you wouldn't expect to see in this kind of anime when it began and this stopping point just makes you want to go for the manga

I enjoyed that a lot. You can definitely argue that the show failed to go anywhere and instead meandered around a bunch of mysteries with bloodshed instead of resolutions. Everything about it was so fresh and weird and funny, though. Things like this rarely stick the landing, and I'm skeptical we'll get another anime season, but it's so much better to at least try.

So, it's one of those endings where bad guys wins at the end of first season... Kuro did say that he might not make out of this alive, I guess it was to foreshadow that he really is gonna die. Tbh I thought he was the one who bullied one of the UN guys during his flashback since his eyes resembles the bully's but after seeing Ten, it made me suspect that it must be Ten.

With proper training, I think, the russian guy can be NIN's strong asset, he managed to take on multiple ninjas by himself, they'll definitely need him in this war.

I swear, the more of this anime I watched the less sense it all made lol.

So, they killed off the supposed MC, but he's got a bunch of siblings taking over?

And why the hell did the NIN guys still fire off Escape, the UN guy was outside of his suit already and pretty much done for no? Was it just to keep the public dumb about all the weird ass ninja stuff that happened at the school?

So many questions xD
@Straw-Hat-Matt I've felt the very same way. They surely ask much more questions than they aswer (authors, i mean), but I got a feeling like I've missed some major part of lore introduction.
And why noticing fatto disguise's spy actually matters?

I love how weird this was but I hate how it was so damn hard to follow. I know from comments the time skipping was just an anime thing but is the manga any easier to follow who's UN affiliated and who's NIN affiliated? I felt like i kept getting mixed up on who's side who is on because they never really always acted clearly just for one side. ._.
