Hand Shakers wasn't a very popular anime from the get go but the second season (or rather the sequel show to be more accurate) destroyed all the good aspects from the first season in favor of a janky plot and uninteresting characters.
Go read Berserk and One Piece they're the best thing ever

Where too begin...
1) Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove It r=1-sinθ. That was...something
2) The Devil is a Part Timer! Season Two. I hate the new art style, the plot felt weak, and I hate the main ship.
3) Aggretsuko Season 4. Felt incomplete.
4)The Promised Neverland Season Two. Who doesn't?
And the worst one...
5) Aria the Scarlet Ammo AA. This show became so trashy and randomly into a girls love plot. They could have just made a whole new show! It made me so uncomfortable and was nothing like season 1, which I enjoyed.

for me its kimi ni todoke, s1 was fine i like it but s2 was very annoying/frustrating how one misunderstanding carried the whole season of 12 episodes.
@luisfunes99 Ok so I'm not the only one. Yeah, S2 made the 2 mc's seem like dense idiots. "Ffs give him the damn chocolates!! Ignore that Kurumi bitch already!!" <facepalm> Must've repeated that in my head 20 times. Scored S1 a 9 and S2 a 5,

S2 Haruhi TV. Scored S1 a 9 and S2 a 3

tokyo revengers is so unbearable after s1 that i'm kinda surprised that i was ever into it. wouldn't say i hate vinland saga by any means but s2 really felt like a chore to get through. enjoyed both parts of spy x family s1 but s2 is kinda boring so far. and then there's the usual haruhi, psycho pass and promised neverland.

The Rising of the Shield Hero, first season was great, second season not so much, but the third season is looking pretty good so far. I just hope they can keep that up.

Psycho Pass s2 (Don't hate it but it was quite disappointing, considering I absolutely loved s1.)
Tokyo Revengers s2 (It was just boring to watch in the anime, maybe I'll like the adapted content when I read the manga.)
The Promised Neverland s2 (Don't think this needs to be explained lol)
One Punch Man s2 (Felt really boring plus the change in studio as well impacted.)
Code Geass R1&R2 (Not a huge fan of the ending plus idk how i sat through this series back when I watched it long ago, considering I hate mecha and isekai genres a lot. Ofc there are 1-2 exceptions, but that's about it.)
Vinland Saga s2 (Don't hate it but it felt boring for some reason in the anime, despite the staff animating it really good. I prefer this arc in the manga anyways. Sadly, I lost interest in the series as a whole, after that arc.)
The Rising of the Shield Hero (s2 was just so boring to watch. Third season is definitely looking a lot better atm. but lets see how it ends ig.)
Mushoku Tensei s2 (As if the MC wasn't problematic and creepy enough already, the whole ED plotline made it even far worse imo.)

There are a few, but the one that stood out the most to me was Log horizon. Shield hero's latest season was also a huge disappointment.

As a side note, I was planning to watch Bofuri's 2nd season next, before I saw all the comments on this thread about it.

@epidemia78 can i know why exactly do you "hate" the 2nd season?
Also i wish its just a coincidence that you didn't add re:zero 2nd season part 1 to your list but added part 2 because i have a friend who skipped part 1 and straight up jumped to part 2 and we had a good laugh about it lol.

Pretty sure the 2017 Kino's Journey, since I assume that must be what you're referring to, is a reboot/remake/re-adaptation rather than a second season. I never watched it and don't really have any desire or plans to, but aren't some of the episodes literally just remade versions of the same plot from the 2003 one?

@Blueberry173

I did watch both parts and the Memory Snow ova as well.

What I've come to dislike about ReZero is the dialog. The problem was present in s1 as well but since it rushed through so many volumes, the pacing felt right. season2 is more faithful to the source material and as a result, the story progression moves at a snails pace thanks to every single character talking way, way too much. It wouldn't be quite so bad if they had clever and interesting things to say but no. They just keep saying the same dumb things over and over again. I actually love quirky "anime" personalities as long as they are fun and grounded in reality in some way but ReZero's personalities are so overblown, the dialog so bloated and their personal issues so nonsensical that I just can't make myself care.

I'm sure I'd have a few series I could list off if I really thought about it, but the first one that came to mind is "Love is War." I liked the first two seasons well enough, but after that, the gimmick got annoying, the jokes weren't as funny, and the movie tested my patience. I'm fine with not watching any more of it.

Not sure if this counts but Naruto : Shit-pudden...

I rate Naruto pretty highly before the time skip and the summer of filler episodes that separated it but they just made the length of filler longer and more frequent. First show that I ever dropped to go finished the story in the manga and I'm not a big manga reader.

@8oomer yeah s1 of kimi ni todoke was good and i thought there were a lot of ways to continue with the story, in a more entertaining way and then s2 happens. And i understand there was this misunderstanding and due to sawakos personality, i can see why it can take some time to resolve but cmon 12 eps for that, for something that could have been solved with a single talk, nah.

I hate Promised Neverland S2 even though I've never seen it. Really enjoyed the first season and it pains me to know S2 is basically unanimously hated. One of the few times I'll actually listen to reviews and avoid because I don't want to ruin my thoughts on the series as a whole.

I guess out of the things I've watched I would have to say.... Darker Than Black S2. I don't hate it per se, but it didn't need to exist. At least in it's current state with the plot it has. I guess by extension the in-between specials also doesn't need to exist, but I actually liked that. Shame it lead into the S2 we got.

Mushoku Tensei S1 ep 1-9 were great for me, the rest was just ok. S2 is garbage, so far. Will s2 rebound from that disaster? I got a feeling the answer is no.
Vinland Saga S1 was incredible. S2 is trash. Miss me with that character development shit.

Made in Abyss ....

Everything that was eerie, mysterious and powerful, in the first season, was relegated to the backseat in the second season so the author could spend more time showcasing some of his favorite fetishes: Anus, poo, pee and Loli-Action. Gross.

@MichaelJackson i am pretty confident that MiA season 2 haters simply are malding because they loved the adventure aspect of season 1 which is not present as the entire season takes place at the same location, though that doesnt make it bad, some people appear to not have problems with that.

"Convoluted lore" is a terrible arguement imo because:
1. What was needed to be explained, which was important to the matter at hand was explained, if you are expecting a deep history lecture over everything- then this is not that, this is a fantasy, not everything needs a deep explanation, and they didn't give it.
2. The things not explained are, as far as i remember, not even that important to the conflict, and the story is ongoing, so it can always be covered up later.

@epidemia78 understandable, i seem to have such a problem only with most CGDCT anime, or complete trash like servamp, didn't feel that was a problem here, in fact i would say that's kinda the way of web-novels and some visual novels- too much dialogue which is not always important, some people can be infuriated with it, and I understand.

Hi Score Girl... season 2 was an empty shell of its former self, threw away videogames out of the window in favor of annoying overused romantic tropes, couldn't even finish the final episode.

And... it's not the second, but the third actually, but Full Metal Panic The Second Raid was also an empty shell of its former self. Series 1 was perfect for balancing action and comedic episodes, Fumoffu (if it counts as season 2) was hilarious, TSR... action only and with dull one-dimensional uninteresting new villains, forced steps in romance between the two main characters, and an insulting twist in the second-to-last episode (also cringey moments in the final one).

I never cared about One Punch Man, but season 1 at least has technically good animation from a large pool of talented freelancers. Then season 2 got passed off to JC Staff, whose work philosophy is "good enough."

This is pretty common. Once season 2 gets greenlit, the studio seems to be aware they may be in it for the long haul, and corner cutting/pacing issues immediately start.

I hate it when a series goes through studio changes.

A big one for me was the second season of Gunslinger Girl. The First season was produced by Madhouse with Hisashi Abe as animation director. The guy behind the Devil May Cry and Highlander: The Search for Vengeance anime adaptations. Whereas Il Teatrino was produced by Artland with Abe-san's name nowhere near the production.

And you can clearly see the obvious difference in quality.

Granted sometimes studio changes do a franchise some good. Such as what happened with Fate/Stay Night. Studio Deen handled adapting the Saber route and the film adaptation of Rin Toosaka’s route of the visual novel, but Ufotable handled the Unlimited Blade Works TV anime and the Heaven Feel movies as well as Fate Zero. All of which have spectacular animation. We’re getting something similar with the current season of Goblin Slayer. Though I guess it’s not as big of a departure from something better as was the case with Gunslinger Girl.

Not exactly a second season but Tekkaman Blade II is inferior to Tekkaman Blade in everything barring animation, art, and the complete lack of recaps. It's unneeded and I don't like the new cast.
