| The end of the ep just tugs at my heart strings. I'm so glad those 2 reunited and can finally be happy again. Lady Fuyou's a real keeper. Those scenes of them living their life together were so cute. |

Eeeeh. It's ok(?) so far? Idk. People say the plot starts next episode so we'll wait for that I guess. My main fear is that right now Maomao is just...flawless?
She doesn't seem to have any direct family so no attachemnt there. She hopes she could get out in 2 years if she lays low but that's almost forgotten about by the second episode. Who's the old man taking care of her? Idk and I guess I shouldn't care cause Maomao doesn't seem to. Hoping he's eating well is all the thought he gets before he's forgotten about.
There doesn't seem to be much motivation or drive for her other than wanting to cook meth drugs medicine. I'm fine with her knowing more than the average person but I really hope she gets some kind of challenge rather than having the correct speculation every time.

| I liked this Fuyou story this episode. It gave us a nice romantic subplot, as well as a glimpse at Maomao's understanding of people. |

| Why are all the inner palace anime I watch so good? Granted, they are few and far between XD, but something must be up. Maybe it's mostly to do with the more unique setting, it's just that uncommon in anime. Wasn't expecting such humor and chibi work, but it's a welcome change from when I watched Oooku (excellent in it's own right). She is a fun, forward main character. |

nah, I don't feel like writing paragraphs of spoilers. In multiple instances (not just for this show) I have tried convincing other anime onlys that the story isn't going how they think it would, when they barely seen 10% of the plot going to be adapted. Yet they would still insist on their wild assumptions and judgement about characters/plots.

Oh damn the beauty cotton-rose concubine tricked the first night performance with the Emperor, feigned the sleepwalking disease, and left the palace without getting further suspect by the whole officials.
A successful scene. Maomao didn't forget to put a disclaimer as it just a mere speculation to avoid any unnecessary conflict even so not telling the detail toward Jinshi, seems like so real. She explain the case by her brothel experience again, feel like a good excuse from all the difficult description she may occur.
I also like how honest those red-haired concubine so honest after hearing the explanation. If only she met Maomao before the Emperor manage to laid a seed, she may as well find an excuse to get the hell out of there without any worries. Since she may kind of a very important person as well outside of the palace. If a mid-rank can put such a show, how come Gyokuyou can't? Just like Maomao, i also put my disclaimer as just a mere speculation, right about here...
But yeah i can understand how Maomao need to lay low the profile since its her whole motivation. However what happened when the skill and knowledge manage to wild spread outside of the Gyokuyou wing? Next episode might gets the idea what's gonna happen to Maomao after then....

| Maomao and Jinshi are so much fun to watch, both are so charismatic and it’s fun to see them interact. I especially like all the faces Maomao makes, it’s too cute whenever those cat ears pop out lol |

| Mao mao is on her full detective mode and has awaken Jinshi's M side lmao..always loved their bickering. The music near the end was also beautiful. |

| The OST for this anime is insanely beautiful! Also I did not expect this episode to have such a cute happy ending. I'm not really surprised someone would mind this kind of life and rather be with the person she loves. Also I love the interactions between Maomao and Jinshi the best :D |

Thing is that once you're in the inner palace you are not free to leave. She does care, but there's nothing she can do on her own during her contract. What kind of "motivation" do you expect from someone in servitude? You have next to zero freedom to pursue your own life - for "motivation" you need freedom to do what you want to do, so rather let us agree on "interests". Maomao showed initiative in her attempt to rescue the consorts and their kids, while she tried to remain anonymous and not stand out. In the end, the narrator explicitly spelled it out for the less observant viewers in ep1: Maomao is curious, has a insatiable appetite for knowledge and a "little bit of a sense of justice". Within these confines she tries to remain hidden without standing out as much as possible. |
| I didn't expect Fuyou's story to hit me in the feels but the use of music and lighting when she and her soldier reunited was extremely effective. Definitely looking forward to more. |

My problem is @Secret333 started nitpicking the show on non-problems right way, that's cynical. See, somebody above already dispels their "concerns"/nitpicking. |

| So far I'm really liking Maomao and Gyokuyou. Gaoshun and the head lady-in-waiting too. Not much to say for the plot yet, but the setting is nice and ripe for scandal and intrigue. |

| i enjoyed watching every episode to the point i did not think of anything and just plainly saw all visuals and heard all sounds. i did not analyze or think about any aspect of the show. quite refreshing actually. i am now conflicted whether to follow each episode or watch it all once completed. (just checked the info and it is 24 eps..woah...) i guess i will save it until completed. |

The point is not that I think some show are better, but that there are a lot of good shows this season and calling a one show the best show of the season after three episodes just because you personally like it is simply pointless. What can I tell you that you can show love to the shows you love without trying to position them as better than anything else? |

| That princess concubine, actually was deceptive enough to play the LONG game, and got rewarded for it. Bravo for her. When they both were in the carriage about to drive away and they let all the pretense drop, I was really feeling like the court concubine - a little jealous, if I must admit it myself. |
