This anime is worth it for all the entertainment and imo, even the finale delivered with wrestling matches! Every major character made an appearance to participate which spiced up the fun.

I also think this episode finale did a solid at job at capturing all the comedic moments just like the other episodes. It's funny how we got the girls participating in the wrestling matches (some of them against animals!) too and there was a lot of attitude in that ring. Hilarious finale.

The Tomo-1 Queen Contest that has everyone wait upon this grand moment, it's the battle between the 5 girls with various sponsors, what a way to celebrate this occasion for Season 1's finale, plus sponsors, because why not.

The general knowledge part with Ten and the watermelon and the lollipop part, Ryunosuke scores first blood. While Nurse Sakura aces with food, it's the main event of the gruelling ring of battle, where the last one standing wins. Ran with her energy-sucking kisses, might not be enough for the wild beasts in a tag-team wild battle. All the while, Ryunosuke being flimsy with her first kiss stolen, and Ran being the progenitor of the problem beforehand, gives back Sakura, Shinobu and Ryunosuke's strength. Even though Ryunosuke doesn't like it, but at the very least they all got their strength back for a glamorous finish.

But it was a farce, and all of that they went through for nothing, for the 150 thousand yen prize is converted to a 30 thousand yen Taiyaki craze, that the final victor is Ataru with the sponsorship money.

Oh well, this was a fun Season 1 going into the modern remake/reboot. Looking forward to Season 2 when it comes in 2024.

Man like I don’t know, this has to be the first beauty pageant in the million years of humanity which is being organized in a wrestling ring. And what more in the name of judging girls on physical or mental attributes, what we got was some ramen eating contest or identifying an entity in a small compact box.. could’ve been more lewd but fine the main attraction, swimsuit contest was there so that made up.

Though swimsuit contest was the name, what we actually got was some old fashioned tag team… against some runaway animals from the zoo??? No, don't be surprised, don’t be surprised… this is the usual. But hey I liked that anaconda against Sakura ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) , for the fighting reasons obviously. Anyways our five girls did beat that circus from the zoo, with plenty of kisses happening in the background. So, the end result… all five of them won the contest. Not the result they expected, but I’ll go with it if it means not declaring Sakura as the sole winner. Better than any other result in all honesty.

This was so-so till the end. Bit funny a few times but then again dreadfully unfunny the equal number of times, most of the second half under that aforementioned bracket. That’s just how surreal humour works in the end I guess, so nothing one can do. Though this is the end, for now atleast. But we know the second season is coming, so it won't be that long before this series comes again.

Well, finally some justice on the Miss Tomobiki manga arc, which was totally botched in the OG anime. That final scene seems new to me ? Good to see anyway.

And so we end with the Tomo-1 Queen arc, and a promise of more to come in 2024.

So to begin I'll just note that I loved this series and am giving it a solid 8/10. It wasn't a perfect adaptation, but it made me nostalgic and happy in a way few newer shows ever manage. And now for a more in depth, autobiographical diatribe I'll put behind spoiler tags due to length:

And so the finale is finally here. The queen contest sure ended up escalating in a pretty wild direction. Though simple the contests sure showed the girls unique skills. Ryunosuke though is proving to be quite the contestant. The fight against the zoo animals sure proved amusing. But it sure ended with one hell of a combo attack thanks to Sakura and Shinobu. The fact that the final prize was just a pile of Taiyaki though was to be expected given that its a school but also a let down as well. Overall a pretty entertaining ep that managed to end the series on a high note. Its funny that they managed to find a way for Benten and Oyuki to appear as well. Given its popularity i'll knew it would get a s2 and im glad that i was right.

It's still wild to me that 40 years later we got a 2nd shot at the Miss Tomobiki episode.

And hoo boy, was it worth it. It was a near-perfect adaptation. It cut some stuff from the manga like Ran sabotaging Ryuunosuke's bikini top thinking it was Lum's and Ryuunosuke's dad being a major pain in the ass but it's still a fantastic adaptation.

That Sakura scene was amazing lol.

I liked how they added some new things near the end. Lum no Love Song cover by Lum's new VA Sumire Uesaka was nice but I feel like Urusei Yatsura's ED1 Uchuu wa Taihen da! (Space is Weird!) would've been a much better fit.

It reminded me of the ending of the OG series with all the characters making cameos while that song was playing. Space is Weird! perfectly encapsulates the Urusei Yatsura spirit to this day. I really wish they got the cast together and made a new cover of it!

I don't think this Remake was perfect. I got 2 major complaints. 1 is that the execution of the jokes was really off most of the time. It's the kind of thing that's hard to explain without side-by-side comparisons. Whereas the OG anime was fluid, the Remake feels a lot slower in comparison with all the pauses and weird zoom-outs.

My 2nd complaint is that they could've picked a lot better chapters to adapt for the 2nd cour. I know UY is a vast series with insane variety but I think most old fans will agree that they cut some of the most important chapters for AtaLum's development.

I feel like Remake-onlies will think of Ataru is just another idiot. Yeah, he is an idiot but he has more nuance than most people give him credit for.

Hopefully, at least my 2nd complaint will be addressed in Season 2 in 2024. 2024 seems so far away. But it's also the perfect time to watch the entire original series while waiting for the sequel.

So fans of the Remake, please check out the original Urusei Yatsura! It's better than the Remake in almost every way. I promise.

aaaahh!! Urusei Yatsura, It's refreshing to see an old type of (slapstick) comedy, the zany humor, being remade in this day and age. I dove into this series blindly and now I'm in love

I'm gonna miss this so bad.
Luckily we already have S2 in 2024. (a long wait)

Quite the hectic finale but it was hella fun. Never mess with the urusei yatsura girls, they are all beautiful but also dangerous af. The final scene with Lum and Ataru was sweet.

Really liked the first half of this remake. David pro did great with the adaptation and the voice actors nailed their roles. Lum is waifu, she's love. Had lots of fun with this for the past six months and looking forward to part 2 next year. Till then sayonara~

So we cap things off Season 1 with the conclusion of the Tomo-1 Queen contest which was just a series of odd challenges that was setup by Ataru for the sake of advertising. Things got out of hand in the last challenge when the girls had to fight against the animals which lead to some very hot moments including Rem kissing all the girls in the contest twice. It didn't take long for chaos to ensue when all the other characters showed up which resulted in Ataru being chased by Sakura and Shinobu from the contest once they realized that the grand prize was just a bunch of Tayaki.lol.

Overall, I enjoyed the Urusei Yatsura remake from start to finish as it is one of the many animes that made me laugh. It's amazing to see so many of these characters and how most of them lead to inspirations behind Rumiko's most popular work Inuyasha. David Productions did an awesome job bringing this series back to life. Looking forward to seeing the second season in 2024.

8/10 cha!!!

What a great final episode for the first part of the remake of Urusei Yatsura, this one truly felt like a classic episode despite the fact that the original adapted this story in particular a lot differently lol. Having a whole episode dedicated to one continuous plot really helps with that, and even though I’m a fan of the original version of this episode I think it was greatly improved here, loved seeing all the girls doing different challenges, especially the 5 vs 5 against those animals, so many hilarious antics throughout and Ran making everyone feel a certain type of way by kissing all of her teammates lol. And then ending it in a final burst of chaos with lots of characters reappearing with a new version of the first opening to the original show was a really nice ending for now, I also really liked that nice moment between Lum and Ataru before Ataru got smashed with a desk lol.

And that’s sadly it for now, I’ve really enjoyed this remake so far, it may not have outdone the original most of the time but just seeing these characters and stories in a new and fresh way makes this worth watching alone. David Productions has done an amazing job and so have the new VAs as well as the returning ones. And I gotta say, even if I’ve preferred the original show overall I do have this remake to thank for getting me interested in the series back when they first announced it, it’s been such a fun time watching both the OG and this remake over the last year.

And I have to mention how fantastic both the OPs and the EDs are, the songs have been so good as well as the visuals, the 2nd ED was just a nice looking mural visually but the song made up for it, it’s very nice art too anyway lol. I’m very excited for Part 2 in 2024, we got a while until then but I’ll be watching more of the original in the meantime (105 episodes in and 2 movies atm) so I’ll be held over for a while thankfully.

So this is how the first season ends... And what a ride.
This reboot is my first introduction to Urusei Yatsura, I went into it without really knowing what to expect.
Since I haven't seen the original anime nor have I read the manga, I can't compare it to these things and see what it's lacking, so instead I'll just see it for what it is : an entertaining show with fun storylines, great slapstick comedy and amazing art direction. I've been looking forward to each new episode, and even though some were weaker than others, it has consistently been the highlight of my week since it started airing.

This last episode was really fun, that fight was wild lmao (of course they had to sneak in some Sakura fanservice in there)
Loved that they included a cover of Lum's love song at the end (the first opening being one of the only things I know about the OG anime lol), and all the other characters showing up. A cute moment as well between Ataru and Lum (before it was cut short that is)

Overall, I had a blast watching this first season and it made me want to check out the OG show for sure. 9/10 for me.
Really looking forward to season 2!

If you thought the series covered the most absurd concept already, you're in for a big surprise, xD. It's been that kind of season, really.

Pro-wrestling arena for deciding the Queen presence of the school, that's a pretty rough rubric to begin with, if you ask me. Ran-chan definitely stole the spotlight for me with all those kisses, lol. Even Ryuunosuke-san's dad was involved, must be hard for her. She probably deserved the win considering she was dominating the charts prior to the final selection but welp, life can be unfair sometimes.

A little Lum - Ataru moment in the end there to close the season with. Boy, were they both gleaming red, lol? Got to give it to Lum for asking the most important Qs in the most critical times.

Honestly, I was thinking there wasn't going to be a 2nd season at all, so I was expecting some kind of finale here. But, thank God, that's not the case here, I don't think they could've tied up all the ends in just 24 mins. A lot of the jokes and segments were hit-or-miss but here's to hoping the next season will be more consistent with the hit department. God, I loved the Op and its visuals though, I'm confident they'll be around for next year, I can't see many people disapproving of that.

Going to stick with a generous 7/10 for this.

We gotta wait till 2024 for more urusei yatsura??? Mannn. Finale pretty much defined the show. A collection of wacky but loveable characters who just get up to stupid shit every week 😂 bikini wrestling match was the most random thing ever but it just works in this show.

Shoutout to David Production for updating a classic that is really the inspiration for most modern romcoms and making it accessible to the current gen while staying true to the OG. Can’t wait to see what we get in season 2.

This episode was a mixed bag for me. It had some fun moments, and of course, everything about Ryunosuke was perfectly executed, but some of this just didn't work for me. That ending though, I was already expecting the infamous Takahashi cock block to happen, so it didn't surprise me here.

So on one hand this show has so many top tier girls, basically one for each episode but I just don't like Ataru one bit, he has no redeeming qualities and the show is 100x more enjoyable when he isn't on screen nor he has anything to do with the plot, it had great OP and ED too, hopefully they keep delivering with those for the S2.

You wanna watch Urusei Yatsura but overwhelmed by the almost 200 episodes of the original and fine with taking something 10x worse? Then this reboot is for you!
I suppose it's an alright watch if you are able to see it as it's own thing and not compare it to the superior 80s anime. 7/10

Ah the good ol mana kiss..ups wrong anime, but kiss = power up trope is always gold, especially when it comes with yuri. Crazy fun episode fitting for the season finale, even tho there was no kiss for main couple, lol.

Very nice remake so far.

A finale that encompasses what the series is about. The main girls, the ridiculuos challenges, the shouting, Ataru being a prick and Lum taking the spotlight. All the characters make a cameo, some more than others, the animation is consistently good and the tracks certainly deliver. In fact, I'm not sure now I like the first or second opening song more considering the latter has grown on me.

Nonetheless, something I didn't like about the series was the constant instances of shouting. I understand it's from a different time but that sometimes can make the interactions really annoying. Also, there are some aspects from the time related to gender judgement that are still present from the original as well as stories way too short for the runtime.

At the end, despite its shortcoming, I enjoyed what I watched and am looking forward to the next part coming next year.

Fantastic way to end the first half of this reboot. I'm a little sad I have to wait til next year for more, but I'm glad they left us off on a high note.

Them setting it up as if they were about to have a wrestling match with each other, only to actually go against bulky wild animals is the exact sort of thing I would expect from this series and I freaking love it. Plenty of good gags came from it too. Ran trying to give the other girls their energy back with the most goofy-ass faces possible, Mendo coming in to help the girls, only to get destroyed instantly, the whole thing with Sakura and the fucking snake, it was golden. Also, loved the little Ataru/Lum moment at the end, their dynamic is such a fun one.

Overall, I enjoyed this reboot a lot and I honestly like it a bit more than the original anime actually, mostly for being more manga-accurate and for being faster paced (Not super keen on some of the changes the OG anime made and some episodes felt like they dragged on longer than they needed to). Will say I must preferred the OG anime's artstyle though. That 80s cel-animated look is such a defining trait in the series' identity in a way the reboot's artstyle couldn't replicate, even if it still looks good overall.

Speaking of the OG anime, guess I should finally get back to it as I wait for the second half to premiere next year. I wonder if I'll be able to finish it before then?

What a finish to a great season!! I laughed so much each week. Ataru doing the sponsorship ads in between events was funny as hell. It was silly little moments like that and in the one episode where they were in Mendo’s mansion and it looked like Ataru was running to save the girls but he was actually running away that made me love his character. The whole cast of crazy characters really endeared me to the show. But I have to say Lum has quickly become one of my favorite characters. She’s so adorable 🥰 I love how she tries to manipulate Ataru but botches it. Also her zapping the hell out of Ataru never got old to me. All in all, a great show and I’ll be looking forward to season 2. I’d love to try and make time to watch the original, hopefully I can make that happen,

I enjoyed this anime from beginning to end, without a doubt it goes to my top 15, the final episode was GOD, ending everything in chaos as it always does xddd

I don't believe that the second part will come out until 2024, I thought it would be all in one continuous transmission, well, we will have to wait, the spring and summer seasons still promise a lot, time passes very quickly, so there is no need to be sad.

As iconic as Lum no Love Song is I think Uchuu wa Taihen da! is the true theme song of Urusei Yatsura because it represents the whole series more accurately. I wish we'll get a new version of it next year too.

Pretty ok finale for this season I wochangeeuld say. There are some questionable changes or cut made in this beauty contest but at least it's still attained its plot points quite well. Not sure why they have to changed the objective into lollipops instead of bananas just like in the manga. It's way funnier when both Sakura and Shinobu commenting that it's like a chimpanzee circus instead of an IQ test.

It's Lum's bikini that she lend for Ryuunosuke so she could wear one. I find it a little weird that Ryuu didn't object when her father ask her to use binding instead. I guess it's to save the time and make her father less annoying.
Not sure why Mendo must wear a mask like El Primo while he is always like to show off in front of the ladies lol.

I promise.

Very well said.

I love how they used the OG OP1 Lum no Love Song by Yuuko Matsutani in the last part of the episode.

Overall fantastic remaster of a classic manga/anime, hype for the S2!

Super charming. Admittedly the animal stuff was a bit weird at points but the rest of it was great. If it weren't for the scene where everyone rocks up for a second though, it wouldn't feel like a finale at all. Excited for more! Lum was super cute pouting at the end, haha.
