Well that mom is psychotic & definitely needs her meds, but sounds like most her life was a mistake. Our amazing Yoshidaman knocked some reason into the mother, and he later survived Sayu's 'challenges', he's such a godly mc.
Cute ending with the expected timeskip reunion. Man Asami looks different. Wouldn't mind ovas/continuation.

Some questionnable stuff I was kinda put off like Yoshida eventually falling in love with Sayu as I personally hoped he would become a wholesome father/brother figure, but still good to see him having changed her shitty life into a more happy one.

You say that like it's a bad thing, it worked for millennia. Now that things are changed, birthrates are dropping like flies in 1st world countries because less and less people are getting married and having children. "Progress"?

Oh, the birthrate problem in Japan and the rest of the developed world is real and taking personal dreams to a narcissistic extreme is also a problem. That's not what I'm looking for. It wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing if Sayu hinted she was looking to be Yoshida's wife and have children with him. Instead, she's there to serve Yoshida's need for a maid and lover, not be is partner in growing up and starting a family or an incentive for him to step up and do better than living in a small crappy apartment.

And given how awful Sayu's familiy is and her own hang-ups with sex, and Yoshida's lifestyle, can you really see her and Yoshida having children and, if so, more than a single child? Isn't that exactly why Japan's birth rate is so low? There would need to be a lot more character growth in both Yoshida and Sayu for it to make a statement against what you are talking about.

If you want to see an anime with a good strong message against attitudes that have led to collapsing birth rates across the developed world, I recommend Darling in the Franxx.

I thought Sayu was starting to be smarter, but then she tries to seduce Yoshida again and in her own home when they could be found out (just her entering his room would be enough) and all they did would go to waste...

Yes, that one scene basically shows (A) Sayu learned nothing from the time she spent with Yoshida (she's still trying to use sex to get what she wants out of a man and hasn't leaned to respect herself or show restraint) and (B) Yoshida has given up on being a positive paternal figure and trying to make Sayu a better person. It pretty much wrecks the characters and story.

I'm really infuriated with the fact that Yoshida does not end up with Gotou, even after a 2 years timeskip, and knowing that both like each others.

Hm. Some good, some bad...
Considering the subject could have been a lot worse.

It wasn't the dumpster fire i expected when this was pitched to me but, where i think this failed spectacularly is in understanding how people feel and act, specially towards the end. These characters did not act like people, they acted as anime characters... To be expected, but still a bit disappointing.
I think I don't know wtf I'm doing. Maybe. Probably.

If nothing else, I'm glad that he maintained his refusal to sleep with a literal child to the very end. I do think that the ending would have been more impactful if they just hadn't ended up together at all, and Sayu learned to move on, but I understand how these stories have to work. Solid 7.5/10 for me.

Not gonna lie, i didn't understand the ending.
Only thing i understand: this idiot didn't marry Gotou.
Never liked Sayu and after their last night together, when she tried to fuck Yoshida, i like her even less.

I feel bad for once having a tiny expectation that any good stuff will come out from the worst show of the year.

I don’t mind utter fan services.
I don’t mind male MC being the almighty god-like figure for the show.
I don’t mind harem.
I don’t mind silly plot execution.
I don’t mind bland boring direction and animation.
But when all these combined together, I’m not ok.

What’s worse is that this is a show with depressing topics. Any bad points of the show will be magnified. And it has a ton of them.

After I watched this, I didn't realize this would've been so polarizing until I came here.

Personally I felt that is was amazing from start to finish. There are so many happy go lucky slice of life series that a, what I find, pretty dark story feels like a breath of fresh air. Especially when excecuted well like it is here and it tackles a theme that is actually an issue in the real world, being runaways due to abuse or neglect.

From what I've gathered, all the source material has been adapted and there won't be a second season, though from this ending it seems clear how the rest of the story would go.

Really enjoyed it personally, so would recommend it to someone who loves a darker story.

Started to watch this after it started airing, binge watching it here and there, but put it on hold after ep8, was not feeling it any more, then it ended, and I heard about the ending, at the time I thought people would get mad because the writer came off as a coward with this ending, but seems more people are unhappy with the drama in the last couple of eps, or calling MC a creeper.

Foremost, I ended up enjoying the ending, it meshed well enough, to my surprise.
The problems I have with the drama are most that while I do feel it tackles stuff with a maturity I m pleased with, it is kinda hard to believe an MC like this one exists, 17 or not, a man is a man, sooner or later, his defense would fall... regarding the mom, it is clear she had a fucked up past, not an excuse, but one thing leads to another and she ended her, I dont feel the show was being poorly written, people like her do exist yes.

I never felt creeped out by Yoshida, reading in between the lines, he ended up falling in love with Sayo, but he had his ideals to live by, and he also only realized this, after she was gone from her life, this was not creepy, the way this show approachs the feelings of both characters was very endearing, again, if it was me in that situation I dont believe I would ever be has idealistc as Yoshida was, neither I do beliveve any of the males here would, LETS BE REAL...

But I appreciated what Higehiro tried to convey, and I heard it out loud, really what bothers considering the ending, is that somehow the MC was able to retain the same status quo for 2 whole years, having female colleagues that confessed to him previously and probably still made advances from time to time... 2 years later and nothing changed, yes what a Saint of a MC.
I can tolerate this, if he accepted he loved Sayu in the end, and was kinda waiting for her, what a fool, but would make sense

Seeing Sayu going through this journey and facing off her traumas in the end filled me full of warm thoughts, seeing her desire and promise to come back, and seeing her once again, YES the scene being longer, and maybe and epilogue after this one, would have made it better, but STILL, seeing her there once again, left me really happy, I do believe he loves her, so now they can finally live together for good.
What matters is that this anime despite everything, manage to leave me with such feelings, I really cant complain much (outside a few extra scenes to show the new lovebirds going about their lives).

8.2/10 = 8

Higehiro treaded dangerous, controversial grounds, the premise is hard to go by unnoticed, it was bounded to attract a lot of people wanting to shit on it, and the animation could have used care and budget in the later half, a better director would have given something even better, but the end result for me stands to be a really cute show that I m glad I gave the change to watch and complete.

I forgot that this could even be considered a darker story, to me it felt more like mild drama than anything else, then again, you have strong themes here...
If you really want to talk about a darker story, I would say, go watch Scum Wish, that is darker than this.

I haven't watched Scum Wish, so I'll add it to my list.

Great analysis by the way!

Quick edit: after reading the synopsis, I'm not sure I would much enjoy Scum Wish to be honest. Seems very depressing. Still on the list though!

Scum Wish is not for everyone definitly, it displays twisten and broken relationships, definitly not healthy, but when I watched it, I was definitly in the mood for something less cliche, that would look to the ugly reality that love can also be, and I loved the anime for that.

Thanks, my feelings for Higehiro are a bit around the place, but I was never really one to written something neat and using all the right words.
I much prefer to put my feels in words, and if the show managed to get me doing that instead of leaving a quick opinion, that means it was very sucessful in making me feel about it.

There are also times you end up disappointed with something, seeing the greater potential it could have, and feel like you have a lot to say, which was the case with Takt Op Destiny, otherwise, I dont spend that much time on discussions.
Higehiro definitly done something right to have me writting that much xD

I don't know how this anime managed to be as boring and underwhelming as it was.
I definitely had some expectation coming into this but it just failed to deliver on all aspects. At least I could laugh a bit, with how dumb everyone was, starting with the brother. And that man was supposed to be leading some succesful company.
However the biggest mystery to me, is how everyone falls in love with this MC. That guy was pathetic. And everyone else as well. What a letdown.

Finally got the courage to watch the 2 last episodes and it was a really good ending!
The last episode was pure pain, her mother is horrible and there's nothing that will change that, she was forced to comply basically.

Yoshida is the real MVP, she only ceded because he ashamed her by how desperate he was to help Sayu, a girl that was a stranger to him. And the fact that her son did the same, destroyed her even more.
Yoshida did and said everything perfectly, this guy is the MVP! And even tho Sayu's brother is a really nice and smart guy, it saddens me that he didn't do anything to avoid this.

This scene, boy! What an ending!

A very solid 9/10, i really wish for an OVA tho, would love to see some future scenes of everyone.

The last episode was really good and I think it managed to get one of the most successful open endings for a slice of life. Yoshida and Sayu's future is pretty clear and I think with Sayu's declaration of love and Yoshida's hesitation there is no room for doubt about their feelings.
The post ending scene that recalls the first episode is sweet and joyful. We can see Asami's change and Sayu's maturation who, despite the past two years, preserves her love for Yoshida.
In the end, after 13 episodes I can firmly say that I loved Higehiro,It's a never banal or predictable slice of life that touches on heavy themes without degenerating into ecchi scenes and It manages to convey a profound and positive message despite the illegality of some actions during the story.
It's one of those anime that makes you think that there is still good in this world.
9/10- 10/10.

watched only the final EP

17 is young adult not a child

pre teen is a child

16y old got married to slightly over 20 dude in my country, at the time of the wedding she she was expecting already and she looked like 7 or 8 months, it was in news cause its was a daughter of a bicycle racer, its not common thing but with parents approval it can happen

when it comes to fiction i care only about that love wins even if 14y old gets married to dude age of 34 and get children right after, if its about pre teen well then it gets disturbing

so what ever they slept together or not doesn't matter even if they did it would have been ok

if there is actual love then there is no pedo, sins pedo is only interested in children for one and some even to early teens (12-14) sexually without love, and sometimes love can happen between 18+ and below 18 and they have right to be happy with each other

if i had daughter i wouldn't say she cant be in a relationship with over 18, as long as the guy doesn't have criminal record and loves her i wouldn't say they can't be together

This shows get way too close to endorsing pedophilia and grooming. It’s great that Yoshida turns down Sayu’s advances, although his hesitation cancels that out. In addition, no older brother is going to happily and playfully get another adult to admit to being in love with their sister that’s still a minor. Drop that whole “age is just a number” line when it’s a child involved.

Yoshida is the chaddest of the chaddest. Also, for those who accuse this show of pedophilia bait, this show, in fact, is the complete opposite: it teaches us how to treat kids (or especially teenagers) properly. FYI, my grandma is 12 years younger than my grandpa. So, if Yoshida, who is 10 years older than Sayu, marries Sayu in the end, it won't be a problem since the legal marital age in Japan is 18 years old or older (and Sayu, since she had graduated, she is certainly over 18 years old).

In the latter part when Yoshida broke down realizing Sayu no longer exists in his apartment, that scene really shows no character is perfect in this show, and that's the main point I love about this show.

Solid 9/10 for this show. I never expected that this show would teach me a lot about how to be a proper adult.

I cant believe that Sayu come back after two years! I love how she and her brother talks about realistic thoughts, about "What if you go home earlier and miss my sister or your not drunk at that time" etc. I mean there's literally many scenarios of how or when will they met like Sayu said, "what if I met you on a different scenario" etc. It's just good that Yoshida-san met her at that time and help her on any ways he can.

So we get a happy ending after all, eh? And it's still a harem, no matter what the genres on MAL say.

First 4 episodes were really good, from then it gets more and more boring until the real drama kicks in. The end with the trip to Hokkaido then lost me completely, even though the ending itself wasn't that bad. Still had potential to be much better. 6/10

I was never really onboard with the idea of a random guy taking care of a stranger girl for no apparent reason. It's not coherent at all.

What intrigued me was that yoshida showed resilience to her wild charms, so I got curious to see how long he's gonna stick to his morals. Well he didn't disappointed me in that regard.

Furthermore. I didn't like sayu as a character, Gotou-san on the contrary was a good character and would've love to see her along with Yoshida to deal with Sayu's past till the end.

I was about to watch this series because it was really interesting to me as to what would happen when a middle-age man takes in a runaway girl into his home. BUT FORTUNATELY, I somehow watched the anime recap of this on youtube and I'm honestly glad that I didn't have to spend 6 hours on an anime which I would find disdainful at the end.

You might be wondering why? Let's start then.

Our story begins with a office worker whose name I forgot so let's call him MC-kun. He went out with a date whom happens to be his colleague but gets rejected when he confesses. Coming home drunk, he found a girl by the roadside and wondered why she was there alone. After talking, she told him she wanted to live in his house. At this point, I still wasn't sure what the girl really meant by that. Was she trying to kill him and take his belongings or just really got lost in a new town and is really naïve. When they got home, the girl started unbuttoning her shirt and starts seducing him AND He IS DRUNK, mind you. By some miracle, he didn't listen to his urges even after hit up several times. Finally he told her to make some miso soup in the morning. Okay, typical story begins between them two where he is obviously remembering what he did last night but somehow, feeling empathetic for the girl, he lets her stay with the condition she prepares herself to go back home.

Two of them start developing feelings and what not, and some side story happens and there you go, normal anime story. Now, the part which made me NOT WATCH THE ANIME. She is fucking UNDERAGE like she is 17. Not necessarily the worst thing in the world but in the anime, she is revealed to have provided her sexual services to strangers on the street in exchange for staying in a place. And all these times, I was wondering why she was so smooth when she tried to seduce the MC-kun. Now I know why, because she had been doing it repeatedly over the last 6 months. So basically a underage whore. I personally can't tolerate promiscuity but even so, I don't care in some cases where it was impossible to do otherwise like in the cases of rape or sold as a slave but this is fucking ridiculous. But this also indicates to her family's problems as no sane person runs away just like that. I do understand the story would actually be laughable or fictional if the said girl was a virgin. However, the fact she cares little about her own well-being and literally has no standards (just like our MC-kun said in one of the episodes), makes me think the anime went a little bit soft on her when showing her story. Obviously I have just watched a recap and the recap didn't cover the whole story either. But the point stands, our MC-kun can't or should be advised not to pursue her. As she already been defiled, she has little to lose. Whereas, he still has a good life going on and he has people who genuinely care about him like his friend. MC-kun's friend told him it was a bad idea to keep her at the home from the very first moment and I seriously agree with him now. I know I am sounding harsh towards the girl but in this world, nobody cares what you are at present but what the actions you took in the past. Like an assassin will always be hated even if he became a saint. Especially, when I forgot this is just an anime and I should just shut up my fucking mouth. And I can't help but agree. Although, anime or not, story do take inspirations from real life and some fictional stories do happen in real life and so, we shouldn't judge it as if it's just some fictional isekai shit.

I guess, if you are the type of guy who can't bear his girl being fucked by several guys, this anime ain't for you. Otherwise, welcome aboard! This is a good music, good art and genuinely speaking, I wanted to watch it for a long time so if it means anything, you should give it a try even if its a recap from youtube.
