Intriguing episode, I'm hooked! I never watched Trigun before, so it's all new to me (also yes, I know the story is/will be different from the original). Very expressive animation too, it's a joy to watch!

The CGI is so....MID. it was weird seeing VASH look like he cares about his pronouns....Hes a 2023 vash with a HE/HIM/HIS kind of mentality and they made him very feminine....not what he once was.

The character he used to be reminds me of Dante from DMC. Cool, aloof, very witty and humorous type of character that didnt take anything too seriously even in the most dire of situations.

This new Vash the Stampede is Appalling and definitely doesnt deserve a 7+ rating. Just bad

It was not the same, and the enemy was not so obviously retarded nor did the whole world stop while everyone around him looks for bullets all in the span of an already falling cluster bomb.
At least think a little before just openly defending garbage because you are biased towards it.

The CG helps it move a lot but not necessarily the most pleasant looking. It's a decent episode overall which surely makes me want to continue but the writing at times can be questionable. One of the 2 shows I was excited, hope it turns out good.

This looks absolutely horrid. The over-exaggerated movement on the characters is jarring, and the general quality of the models is just bad. Awful start.
for a 3dcg anime it looks pretty good

This just isn't Trigun. It comes off as a complete misunderstanding and bastardization of everything that Trigun is- and I'm honestly a little impressed. Turning every character that was original to the show into a shallow 13 year olds fanfiction equivalent, including rewriting backstories (why on Earth is Meryl a reporter?? and where the FUCK IS MILLY ?????), to including a genuinely fanfiction oc insert.

Let alone how much was jammed into a single episode, it has no sense of pacing or revealing things to the audience- it feels like they dont trust the audience to have a degree of patience with revealing important plot beats throughout the story.

Vashs redesign is awful too. I like the design on its own, removed entirely from Trigun- but with this being the new look for Vash? I just do not like it.

The animation, choreography, and action are phenomenal- unsurprising from the talent at Orange, but it could have been put to better work- like, oh I dont know, just adapting the remainder of Trigun???

This was just unapologetically bad, and incredibly sad to see.

Idk if it’s because of you people’s nostalgia syndrome but animation and character design look great. Movement is very smooth, furthermore the expressions look nice and vivid which is a hard thing to achieve using cgi animation.

Even ignoring the old trigun, its hard for me to like the story and the characters. The visuals and effects are good but the character animations are choppy which I dislike.

I'm to tired to go into more detail sooo good night, maybe I edit this after i rewatched the show

So, can we assume that Wolfwood will fall in love with Robert de Niro instead of Milly?

I can't really give my remark yet until I see more episodes.  One question, which version was closer to the manga?
Which one do you want? An Addiction or A Good Life?
A) Addiction - a progressive narrowing of the things that bring you pleasure.
B) A Good Life - a progressive expansion of the things that bring you pleasure and includes pleasure through motivation and hard work.

If somebody say that this anime going to follow closely to its source material then I think it's 50 - 50.
De Niro, Roberto never appear in old anime nor manga but debuted cast in new anime which is this anime.
Thompson, Milly debuted in both old anime and manga but absent cast in new anime which is this anime.
adapted faithfully to source material or not. the story have to be somewhat modify something right?

I have a lot of fondness for the original anime, but it's been over a decade since I last saw it (excluding one scene I've watched from time to time over the years), so I can't say I have the strongest recollection of the original series, so hopefully that won't be biasing me against this new interpretation. Though in general, I don't really mind when franchises do odd new versions that change things up, and considering I still haven't read the manga, I'm glad to hear this won't be a proper adaption of that either, but something entirely new.

The first thing that jumps out is obviously the CGI. I'm a bit mixed on this, I thought it looked pretty choppy at first, like when Meryl & Roberto were driving in the car, just felt like there was missing frames. But of course, once the action got going it looked great. I still prefer traditional animation, but this is certainly better than most CGI I've seen, so I don't think it'll end up as much of a problem for me. Since this is original, I hope they craft more scenarios to better utilize the 3D space here. This missile cluster here was a good example of that, this is a scenario that just makes more sense to play out with a 3D field, rather than a strictly 2D one. It'd be cool if this is something that's continued going forward.

Other changes are equally as obvious, new designs (most of which I like, just not over the originals), Roberto instead of Milly (which is odd, but I like Roberto so far so whatever), and of course frontloading us with Vash's backstory & Knives. Tbh, Knives was one of the weakest element of the original series, hopefully this anime can make him more compelling, but I am a little uninterested in the prospect of him playing a bigger role this time around. The episode itself though did feel pretty standard Trigun from what I remember. Maybe less over-the-top in personalities thus far, but it did remind me of the original enough. Granted, part of that is because they did repurpose  the no bullets gag from his introduction scene in the original anime but this did feel familiar enough to me.

Honestly, while Milly was a good fun and I'll largely always prefer 2D animation, I think the biggest loss for this series is Tsuneo Imahori as series composer. The OST for the original anime is one of my favourite, and I don't think anything in this premiere came close to having as much character too it. Like, the music wasn't bad here, but I don't think it'll imbue as much into the show as the original did. Though I'd love to be proven wrong.

I was not going to check this series out. I love the original series and the manga is one of my all time favorites. I was disappointed they are not doing a full adaptation of the manga and worse its a CG anime show. All of my fears have been quelled with this first episode. While it is telling its own story with these character, its not the adaptation I wanted but I am excited to see where this goes. Its nice to be surprised and im glad to see new adventures with these characters. The animation I was so worried about is actually top notch. The show looks great. There are some times when it can be jarring like when they first enter town and the characters did not fit the background and the angle looked weird but moments like that are few and far between. This CG is stylized and looks great. The action was smooth and very exciting. This might be the first CG TV show I dont hate to look at. Its still not my favorite style but they make it look good. Overall this was a surprising hit for me and im excited to binge the show and get caught up for the finale this week.

That was a pretty solid first ep! I really like the animation style. It’s very different from the usual but it was smooth, eye catching and made the action scenes awesome.

Vash seems like he’s one of those ‘baka’ characters who actually turns out to be really powerful… one of my favorite kind of anime characters!

Most of remake r worst (in my opinion)..
The girl we loved now looks like a child and wear make-up..
The graphic r too real.. And i hate CG-like anime..
I like an anime with graphic like 2014-2019s..

Absolutely not worth if u already watch the other version (26 episode)..

"They ruined it, they changed everything from the original anime 😭😭😭"
What if I told you that the original anime also changed everything from the actual original story? If you don't like a new take on a story you shouldn't even like the 1998 anime. There are people here complaining about the absence of things that actually never happened in the manga ffs

Except you are wrong my boy. When  "the original anime" started airing the manga was still publishing, so they didn't "change" it but they had to create original content so the anime could continue. Also, they didn't "change everytihng"  like you falsely claim as they kept the characters and some parts of the story same as the manga.

The '98 anime only starts adapting the manga in the 5th episode (4th if you count the pilot). Its first episode was released on April 1st 1998 and the last chapter of Trigun (Fifth Moon) was released on January 1997, they could be faithful to at least the entire first 3 volumes if they wanted but they still made changes. The last chapter that had something adapted in the anime was chapter 12 of Maximum but they had already taken a very different route by then.
