Familiars are canon only as part of the witch's transformation in battle sequences (they got ears and tail of their familiar). I could forget something, but it was never mentioned that any of the witches had her own kawaii invisible pet during any of the seasons or even in parody shows like Hasshin Shimasu. Not a single scene. I guess they added it (and "healing power of music" or something like that) to attract the new target audience = idol lovers. The problem is that these additions hardly fit the World Witches franchise (you can even see in this thread that some newcomers don't want to watch this show because of war setting and strike units lol). Little animals are expensive to draw? Lmao Yeah, we lost the most important one and worsened levels of the other three with no compensation (Japanese cover of Amazing Grace isn't enough). Once again, maybe this show isn't bad for people who enjoy idols and don't care about anything else, but I expect different things when I watch this franchise. |

It's just funny how you defend your headcanon, in which kawaii ears and tails are normal and completely suitable for the setting of WW II and added to attract harsh men, fans of the military atmosphere, but familiars are not and just added for the idol lovers. Do you know why anime characters come out of any scrape without scars? They are expensive to draw. Any detail makes the drawing more complicated, because there are hundreds of them to be made. And a self-moving familiar is even more so. And considering that they are not so important for the show about underpants and guns - they just decided not to draw them. That's perfectly fair. |

However, it's only a prototype OVA of the first season. It had some concepts (for example, strike units with retractable wheels same as planes) that were changed or removed from the main series. I guess familiars were one of these concepts. Also, Yoshika's familiar animal is a shiba inu, not a cat (small detail, but anyway). I just don't like when the franchise establishes its elements and rules, keeps it the same for the 14 years, and then randomly changes it for... no reason. And I don't see any reasons instead of attracting a new audience. Imagine that MagiReco creators would say, "Now everyone, including boys and elders, could become a magical girl. Original series? So you're saying that tons of mahou shoujo series have magical girls and their familiars and it's perfectly fine, but World Witches, one of the most successful media-franchises in Japan, can't draw the familiars only because they are not so important and expensive to draw? The creators didn't use the idea to sell the merchandise with familiars because they are expensive to draw? Gonzo, AIC, Silver Link and David Production are so poor anime studios that they declined to draw magical animals in some scenes only because they are expensive to draw? And then Shaft suddenly realized "hey, I can draw them" and drew them because Shaft is very rich studio and can allow itself to draw some magical familiars? Really? |

Yeah, I found it too Okay, I was wrong. Thank you for explaining. Strange that they included them in anime only now (it would be fun to see, for example, Lucchini and how she plays with her familiar), but if saving money was really the main reason... okay then. |

| liking how Ginny sang that song. It's relaxing to listen to. have never finished any Strike Witches anime, I usually got bored halfway then drop. but this idol version feels like something I could watch to the final episode. looking forward to next week. RioFS said: Really good premise and likeable characters. Glad I picked this up. The title's pretty weird though. Its like they wanted to hammer in the fact that there's flying involved. same, also glad to have started this. The music brightened up my afternoon. perhaps several of the performances later would have the girls flying while doing idol things? |

What are their names and since when have they become the "main team"? And why does Saeki give you hope, but Miyamoto, Okada, Suzuki or Ootani doesn't? You clearly like older shaft, you're even a man of culture with hidamari sketch as a fav, a lot of the actual workers and managers left like 3 years ago due to being overworked and underaprieated. What i read was that a lot of them went to david studios that ended up making that fire fighter anime. I havent watched it so i can not tell you of the quality, but they also make Jojo, which i hate with a passion so i tend to avoid their other work. In regards to the names you mentioned, i dont know who they are. Ill plainly admit i do not keep up with most peoples name, i couldnt even tell you my favorite VA's name off the top of my head. I simply checked out the director and what they have done and noticed two of my all time favorite animes. I am hopefull for a good show, but i do not believe anything they ever do will be bakemonogatari good. |

Eh, I know what you're talking about and I really hope that people will stop saying it, adding new fictional details and exaggerating in each iteration. The thing is, some people have left the studio. A few good people, but mostly just people. But in subsequent retellings, this whole situation continued to exaggerate, and these people became "the main team" or even "all the talents". I just feel that such words are disrespectful to all those talented people who continue to work with the studio. If "the main team" and "all the talents" has left, then who they are? Shinbou, who made Shaft studio as we know it. Miyamoto, the series director of Madoka, several other shows and the first episodes of half of the studio's shows in general? Okada and Ootani, who directed the highest rated(on this site) shaft's show? I can go on, for every director, animator, producer who has left, there are a few remaining and new talents joined them - how are they not the main team? Don't get me wrong - I like Saeki, he is a good and very experienced director and he certainly worked on flcl and a number of other great gainax shows but flcl does not represent his individual style. His style is way more down-to-earth (which is even better suited for Luminous witches) something like a Mahoromatic. Bakemonogatari could only be done at that moment. These are not even people who left 3 years ago, but people who left back in 2010, and most importantly, Oishi, who seems to have retired. You can't do bakemonogatari-good without Oishi, but they can do the other way good. You clearly are way more informed about the matter, and ill keep what you said in mind if i ever find myself talking about shaft again. I dont try to spread misinformstion i asure you. Im just a dirty casual who happened to start watching anime 25 years ago as a kid and never seemed to stop. I appreciate what seems to be solid info and your noncondenceding reply, it seems like thats the norm around here if someone is simply wrong. Ill get to this show here soon with a new outlook on the studio since i have inadvertently judging them for years. |

| Totally forgot this was part of Strike Witches, LOL So... this is going to be about Idol witches. Interesting Also, looks like they're going to be having bunch of animal familiars for almost every single witch... (that they barely shown in any previous series or none at all... but this time they're going to be part of the focus, I guess) (and most of them was just description for how the Witches look after they transforms...) Not to mention, the story plot is about "Moffy"... This also means the "witches" are not "born" but rather "obtained"... unlike we previously thought that most girls can become a witch after training to unlock their powers... |

| Oh shoot. I haven't watched Strike Witches, so I'll pass on this for now. Seems nice and I have a feeling I'd probably be okay without watching Strike Witches for this, but it just feels weird not having watched it.;; I didn't realize it was related to Strike Witches. |
| Hm.. So what is that mysterious light girl was happy to touch?.. Why it appeared there and what it does?.. Interesting that in this anime witches have familiars.. Well, it seems that only witches themselves can see them.. So it doesn't mean they exist or not exist in Strike Witches or Brave Witches.. Though, probably there weren't familiars.. First episode was enjoyable.. But idol shows are hard to make.. But maybe Witches world will help in this.. I hope, as I mostly here for Witches series, rather than for idols initially.. But they can make idol stuff as well in Witches world.. Will see, how it'll go.. ;P |
