Yeah, I agree it's pretty dark in some parts, but there's a lot of everyday life while they deal with the situation, and character relationships and stuff without it being like, we're all gonna die. Nah, you're right. I mostly remembered the mc liking the girl and me liking the manga in general before you mentioned it. ๐ Now thinking about it, it's mostly dark. Dioti manual is like 50/50 also some pretty dark stuff but intertwined with slice of life. Same as me saying Bokurano isn't that dark because there are good moments for the characters, but.. For me very dark is, nothing is ever good for anyone involved and it goes hard. Esp. when MAL lists the number of chapters available in the English release, and not the Japanese release (eg. Arrested Love, MAL lists 29ch, but in JP there's 106). 2. Also what should you do if there is a discrepancy between the number of the chapters released on MAL? I've just noticed that MAL lists only 29 chapters for Arrested Love, which is where the unofficial scanlation stopped, but the official English release is at least ch 36, as it came out on Amazon, but MAL doesn't contain the latest official releases. Should you use MAL's amount of latest chapters, or the actual number of officially released English chapters? I don't see MAL having any chapters for Arrested Love, but it seems that if there was a discrepancy between chapters, it would be because the original is a twitter manga that recently got published, so the chapters would reflect the publication. You go with the actual chapters. MAL can and often times is wrong with chapter counts, or at least they have some weird criteria to them, you use the actual number of chapters for the version you're reading. You could submit an edit and see if they accept it, not that you have to for it to be valid. You can just choose the amount of chapters you want it to show manually. Common misconception lately. Anything you read doesn't need to be 5 volumes, that rule is only for things that you started before the challenge period and want to continue reading. In that case, you have to at least read the latest 5 volumes for it to be valid. Anything read during the challenge period doesn't have a length restriction. If you needed to count the volumes, however, published manhwa/manhua/webtoons have a volume count, no? I think they did just add stuff that hasn't been published physically to the site, and it is a good question. I'll see what the staff consensus is for this one and get back to you if you need it. Yes, they would count. Since you're reading more than the available volumes, it'd technically be more than 5. Other series where it's not that clear cut whether it'd be more than 5 is where it would get a bit trickier. Again, you can track chapters any way you want in MAL, you just have to input them manually and you're free to go. You don't have to, but you can. There's a rereading and a times completed option for manga so that you can track rereads, but we accept this item on the participant's word since some people don't mark rereads, or don't track some manga for some reasons. | hi hi!! i'm close to finish my challenge and i've been checking just to be sure everything is valid now i'm wondering, can I use Aoharu x Kikanjuu for "(41) Read a manga where the main character is the gender opposite to the demographic"? a shounen manga and the story centers around Hotaru Tachibana (a girl) but she's listed with two main male characters so can i proceed with Aoharu x Kikanjuu or i have to choose a new manga? thank you!! ^^ |

| Hellooo, might be a silly one but would the 'Edo Period' tag in bakaupdates count for the feudal Japan item? I've seen a few past challenge entries using only the Kamakura or Sengoku tags so I was wondering about that :o Also! Could I use Vinland Saga for the 'weather conditions on the cover' item? Not so sure about the one in the main page but volume 4 features a snowstorm Thanks in advance! |

| Hi MRC staff! I would like a manga recommendation for #95 please. I would prefer a short, completed manga if possible (could be 1-75ish chapters). I am open to most genres, but genres that I dislike are: hentai, ecchi, erotica, yaoi/yuri, mecha, horror, and harem/reverse harem. Also, as much as I like action, I don't do well with creepy gore scenes (example: action scenes in Vinland Saga were fine, but some scenes in Chainsaw Man I had to skim over). Thank you in advance for your help! :) |

I posted my sign-up form this month (August), so can I only add items to my challenge list that I have read from this month onwards, or can I add manga that I started and completed earlier in 2022? I have several series I finished reading the last few months and just wanted to know if they would be valid to add to my list or not! |
