No way to disagree with previous comments. This season was clearly below the previous ones considering that I am not even up to date with the manga to have the full picture of the events.

Wasting so much time on that awful second tournament arc at the beginning really dragged the season down. That and the pitiful fall from grace that the actual animation has taken since season 4. 4/10, should've spent more time on the interesting stuff but gotta dedicate the animators to non canon movies for that $$$.

It's been awhile since we've seen Class 1-A in action, but honestly after the whole "Season 2 tournament arc"-ish effect, it's getting stale. At least everyone is holding up much better than what they started out with before their Work Study internships. How dare they remove Mineta's stun face snd the others' fascination with Izuku and Uraraka's fistbump.

The crux of importance is still One For All's Vestiges' powers, especially with Blackwhip (which Deku mastered during the Class 1-A vs. 1-B bout), and Bakugo is still Bakugo, but at least he's more tolerable towards the situation. The next person: All Might's master Nana Shimura with her "Float" Quirk, and mastering even one of them will take time.

Within an entire year, the entire Class 1-A has grown from shape to form, and this track cannot be stopped now. How both Aizawa-sensei and All Might have tracked their steps to this day. it's the same for them.

Still though, gonna see what's in store when we hit Season 6

But still, Season 5 suffered under the hands of the World Heroes Mission movie mid-season, and when will the Bones' MHA staff team ever will get their planning right? Easily the worst season of MHA by far.

Let's hope the Paranormal Liberation War will not make the next season bland like this one.

Also I doubt that Hawks actually killed Best Jeanist. There most be some trick behind it all.

I loved Shigaraki's quirk has enhanced and his decay spreads to some extent now. Looks like after the experiment, his quirk will be even more destructive.

Looks like Deku will be learning OFA predecessors' quirk.

Also looks like Eri will be learning to use her quirk soon.

This was probably the worst MHA season ngl. I have high hopes for S6 since I'm pretty hyped up for an all out war.

Pretty alright season overall, though I wasn't a fan of how they skipped certain parts of the manga. As an anime only person I was really looking forward to Spinner's backstory. Besides such the Meta Liberation Army Arc was still pretty lit AF. πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

Looking forward to the next season though!

Recaps are really important in this series, so much that we need a recap in the middle of a darn episode about where the hell our heroes are spending their interns at (like anyone is going to care, right?) Fast forward to spring, almost graduation, which reminds me that it is taking them 5+ seasons to graduate... Okay, battleshounen.

So like what even was this season? I genuinely forgot what happened in the 1st cour until I read the synopsis here on MAL lol. Like did it really need more than half the cour to cover a couple battles which we've seen similar events in previous seasons? All just for some friend-making and a new power-up for our soon-to-be OP main character, making parallels with some other OP isekai MCs? Wow, so original!

Once again, I cannot understand the hype surrounding the 'greatness' of MVA just like what happened with Overhaul. Both here and in the manga, I found it just like any other arc in the past.

I feel like every season there's the manga fans getting excited about the next, and I am ready to be disappointed

Im confused by the timeline. AFO is a single dude, and quirks havent been around for that long. 4th generation now was it? How long has he been around if he is as old as OFA, which has had multiple users.
Especially to the point where you cant trace them anymore? Surely you would find some professional hero from 20 years ago? And while the users died young, All Might has been "defending peace for decades".

Deku getting more quirks from OFA makes sense now that Shigaraki is getting OFA too.

MVA arc was great, work study was good enough, first cour was garbage though.

Another season of MHA out of the way, and boy what an interesting season it was. It is sad to see such a popular show get on the bad side of so many fans with its decisions, as it felt like this show would be one that'd remain consistent and be in safe hands under Bones. Next season will be the true test of what this show's legacy will be, as it's apparently the peak/climax of the story and everything is there for Bones to create an amazing season. If they fail to deliver on the very best this series has to offer, then I don't even want to think about the backlash. But regardless, it's best to remain cautiously optimistic and hope for the best, as other big shounen are setting the bar higher and higher and Bones needs to start stepping up their game if they don't want MHA to be left behind. Even Black Clover is in arguably better shape as it has its first movie coming out and will return with a lot of love and excitement as the first part ended on a high note.

As for this season itself, I agree with many that it was a mixed bag and certainly the weakest yet. Two characters saved it from being a total misfire though, those being Shigaraki and Endeavor. Shigaraki in particular, as his entire backstory and awakening against Re-Destro was honestly 10/10, top tier MHA material that reminded me why I fell in love with this show and was taking things into new territory. There were some fun fights in Class A vs Class B (with really solid animation) and overall this season was more of a set-up than anything so no matter how great an adaptation it was, it was always likely going to be a bit underwhelming overall. That's just how it goes with stories, you need those lulls and parts in the adventure that set the pieces in place and until the pay-off comes, those parts can seem lackluster.

Potential hot-take, but I really liked the decision to switch the Endeavor Agency Arc and MVA. It's true that it presented some problems (spoiling the outcome of MVA and making the timeline a bit harder to follow) but overall I feel it lends the story better to an anime format. With manga that's consistently on-going, it's ok to switch things up and not having to worry about proper climaxes to seasons or whatever. But with the anime, I feel it would've been too stark a difference in tone to go from the lighthearted class battles, to MVA which would be the climax of a season only 2/3 done, and then back to hero stuff. By switching them around, there can be more build-up and mystery to what the villains are up to, and considering how important and dark the villain stuff is, saving it for the climax of the season feels more appropriate and ends things on a good note. If there were just one more episode to give MVA that little extra breathing room and include the removed content, I think fans would've been more accepting of the changes.

And P.S. was it just me or did it feel like this last episode was cut short? It felt like it ended a bit too suddenly and the runtime was shorter than a normal episode.

I gotta say. I actually loved this season. Though I wish they could've done the adaptation a little better and followed the timeline of the manga. I think it still did a nice job. However, I guess the 3rd movie placement or fitting is what made it go downhill for me. They did cut out some parts or scenes that is very important for the Villains such as Spinner for example. I loved the fight/battle between Class 1-A and Class 1-B though. The Endeavor agency arc was good. The Villain Academia arc was good too but could've been better though. So I give it a 6/10. However, I now pray they can do the next big arc justice and right. Because if they give their art, animation, and music the right amount of work along with edited censorship or so. Then all I can say is. It will one of the best action arcs I have ever watched in my life. I should not hope for too much. But I can't help it. So all given to me. Bones or whatever studio is going to do the next arc. DO NOT MESS THIS UP!

Well, why tons of things happen like that in the last few episodes on this season? Just to make sure that things progress? What a brillant marketing strategy and fake cliffhanger, just like S4.

Overall, except for the last 4 episodes of My Villain Academia, this season is a real disappointment with lot of issues and changes with the adaptation. I honestly don’t care much about S6 and “will become great” because it will probably have the same issues in both directing and animation. Catching up with the manga is more worth it.

Guess I will post my review and read the the manga then.

Wow...what a disaster of a season. And no, I won't change this opinion. I am following MHA for the last four years and I love it to the bottom of my heart. Yet, not even one season has hit home for me. This may seem harsh, but times are changing. Animation is a key factor to anime nowadays. Poorly handled season. A lot of panels cut out from episodes, annoying flashbacks and unnecessary filler episodes for the sake of the goddamn movie.

If someone could use their brain, and all those animators hardwork be put in the main storyline, maybe it could have changed something. I won't blame Director Nagasaki for this, not at all. But all my blame is for TOHO. Deeply saddened that MVA got more episodes and just rushed it coz they don't wanna showcase about villains. To note MVA doesn't tell you to sympathize villains in the first place. Asspulls everywhere. Just sad. My clear request to manga readers is that they plz stop telling that:
“The next arc is...”
“Next arc that...”
It's enough...I blame myself for hyping up this arc and I won't do it anymore. As a manga reader, I tell you to plz stop doing this coz who knows what asspull the next season would bring. Honestly, it just saddens me to see my favourite anime go stale like this, and I am really scared what they'd do to the next seasons. I can only hope for it to improve.

Till then, peace out Plus Ultra

Definitely the weakest season for sure.
Rearrange MVA definitely didn't help at all, i know Manga Reader really hate this.

The Episode with Shigaraki Tomura backstory is probably the best Episode from the rest.

I'm Anime Only, i can understand now why Manga Reader hate how the way Bones handle this Season.

Overall 6/10
Pity score because of MVA, and Endeavor Story.

This is something Only the manga readers will find weird , so spoiler alert :
Did any of you notice shoji in the Last shot with deku and the others in jaku city ?
This is weird because in the manga shoji wasn't a part of the jaku hospital raid but instead The villa mountain raid (where the PLF soldiers are hiding ) with 12 other Class A-1 students
We could say that they just did some changes in the anime and shoji will participate in the hospital raid instead , but this doesn't make sense because if shoji was there , gang orca and jirou will be there too because they are all a part of Gang orca's agency , but we didn't see jirou in that scene and also her presence in the villa mountain raid is so important since she did help during the fight with gigantomachia and helped with kaminari's development
I don't know what the studio is trying to do , but they better fix this if this scene repeats in the 1st episode of season 6 and remove shoji to avoid the possible upcoming plot holes

Very average stuff. There is the occasional flash of actually good stuff, but it’s mostly just fine. We’ll see how it is once the actually significant action gets going. This series desparately needs some stakes, like a death of a classmate or so.

So this Season of MHA ends on a cliffhanger. Thanks for nothing Bones with its awkward pacing. Honestly, I'm at a crossroads on whether I should read the manga or keep going with the anime. In my opinion the anime is not moving fast enough to get to the parts that we want to see which is the MVA/Paranormal War arc. I mean I know they have to get through the preliminary stuff between the Joint Hero training and the Endeavor agency arc, but at this rate the audience is more likely to fall asleep before the action starts.

I give this season of MHA a 5/10.

The episode was... fine. But this season has left a bitter taste in my mouth with how poorly they adapted MVA, that I don't think they can make go away. It's a stain on this show that nothing short of a complete overhaul to the arc will fix (puns not intended). But this season finally crossed the line where I'd recommend fans to just read the manga.

Pretty good final episode, I’m glad we go to see the heroes one more time before the season ends, and the foreshadowing is pretty big in this episode as well, the fact Midoriya says “I’m so blessed” is hell of a flag lol, where is Katarina when we need her. Also love seeing the flashback of Nana, for a character that’s been dead since the series began, I always love seeing her.

So that’s the end of Season 5, two entire seasons of anime have gone by and imo, this season was good overall. I personally liked the first half more with Class A vs Class B, I don’t think that arc deserved some of the hate it got, I thought it was a fun tournament style arc. The 2nd half was overall pretty good, the Endeavor’s Agency arc was okay, not the best, but MVA kinda stole the show, even with the cuts. Parts of it weren’t great but overall I really liked it, and I can see why it’s a beloved arc by the fans of the manga. This Season was an 8/10 for me, just like I gave Season 4, although I do think I like this season more overall.

Also all the OPs and EDs this season were awesome, they never miss with those, they’re definitely favorites of mine for the whole series. I do look forward to Season 6 and I hope they don’t cut content and mix things around for a movie when it’s time for it, that way everyone is happy and we can all enjoy the season to its fullest!

Overall I was disappointed by this season and it all stems from the fact that Bones put most of their focus on the bloody movie; it meant less attention to the series and crappy pacing so that the season fit in with the movies release date.

The thing that really pissed me off is that My Villain Academia was SO condensed. It's one of the best BNHA arcs and Bones did NOT do it justice. Hopefully season 6 will be better cause if they don't get the next arcs right... it'll ruin the rest of BNHA anime imo.

So no one is going to question this sudden new power that Deku has... and he's about to gain the ability to fly on top of that? Honestly if I was one of these characters I'd immediately think of the Nomus and suspect him of being on the enemy's side. He's always been a weirdo taking notes on everyone, almost like he wants to learn their weaknesses because he knows there's a chance he'll fight them in the future. It's going to sound cynical but having everyone blindly believe in him without ever doubting what he says is starting to be boring. Sure, he proved himself a couple times and it seems like All Might is backing him more openly now, but that doesn't explain a whole new ability.

All Might is always talking about this chaotic period in time and it always seems like he's the only one that knows about it? Don't the kids have history class? Maybe everyone should be reminded how terrible things were, to prevent the younger generation from taking All for One as an example?

Speaking of history, it would be really nice to know what caused people to start getting powers in the first place, but I feel like it's either never going to be revealed or only revealed near the very end of the story.

They tried to hype them up but I need to vent a little about Tomura and his clown army. Seriously, how dumb do you have to be to think of fighting Quirk suppression (or whatever they called it) by proving to everyone that illegal practice is indeed dangerous. Also, having a tragic backstory doesn't allow you to freely murder innocents. That reminded me that they never revealed that overpowered ice guy's face, it has to somehow be Todoroki's dead brother or related to his family, because I'm pretty sure that no one else was hidden like that.

I found this episode amazing not to mention that most of the screen was occupied with some deku moments with the other heroes showing their training, but there was also some information twists during the episode that I was even surprised with the Union of Villains and this ending with Midoriya talking about facing Union of villains this is already amazing more than a good ending.

Definitely the least satisfying season and finale for the anime so far.

There were a few ups and a lotta downs overall. I can only hope that the next season is a better adaptation and that if/when they include fillers and movie tie-in episodes they're at least less clumsily handled than they were in this season.

God bless the person/people who drew that panel of ripped Nana Shimura floating. They sure know their stuff and I can only hope Mirko's future cuts receive a similar treatment.

Well, nothing much to say. Another decent season overall. No idea what most people here were expecting from such standard battle shounen but as for me, I had a good time and found all the arcs enjoyable in some way or another.

A more chill episode to end the season on if we compare it to the season 4 finale.

Everyone of the students showing their progress and yes, they all got stronger but it's not even close to what happens to Shigarakis atm. I don't even want to imagine what kind of monster he becomes after those 4 months also being able to use OFA? Just crazy.

Midoriya and Uraraka had a nice little moment and the fist bump was kinda cute. Seeing Uraraka that calm was honestly surprising. Most of the time she gets pretty nervous in front of Midoriya.

I wonder whats happening to Eri. Her horn seemed to show some sort of reaction for whatever reason. Hopefully she's fine and I'm glad Aizawa will start with her training. "Maybe" this is a chance for Mirio to get his quirk back.

Poor All Might. Feeling so helpless and not being able to do what you always loved to do, sucks. But at the same time Aizawa is right. All Might did so much over all this time and just the fact him being alive will always be a motivation for our students.

There were a couple scenes I got a good laugh at, Bakugou obviously always being involved.
Bakugou: "Who cut the chives?"
Todoroki: "Me"
Bakugou: "Your sister would cry if she saw this!" xD

So Midoriyas new task is learning the float quirk of All Mights master Nana Shimura? If I had to guess I would say it's because All Might saw it so often, has a lot of information about and therefor it will get easier for Midoriya to learn it. There could also be another reason but I'm not sure. Btw Nana looks absolute beautiful in that shoot we got and Gran Torino was way bigger haha.

Even with seeing Best Jeanist in that bag I still believe there's some sort of trick behind it. Knowing Hawks a bit better due to this season and the crucial situation they're in right know, I can't imagine him killing such an important hero.

The kid we saw at the end with the Endeavor doll, Dai will probably play a bigger role in season 6. I don't think they showed him for nothing.

Overall I can agree that this season was a weaker one and didn't quite hit the hype level I usually get. But it's no surprise with the amount of build up this season got, it's some sort of sacrifice for the next one. Nonetheless the last couple episodes and getting more background of the villains was something I enjoyed a lot. With all the information we got now, knowing what eventually could/will happen in the next season and also hearing how great the next arc is in the manga, makes me hate having to wait till next year >.<

This episode was mid but that's okay, the last couple of episodes were great. These last few episodes really tried saving this season.

Thanks to the last few episodes this season moved from mid to okay-ish, a rating of 7.5 is about right I believe. I've seen worse animes with better ratings though.

And yet again, this episode reminded me how I fucking hate Bakugo, I just can't stand that mother fucker, that mofo really gets on my nerves with that screaming bullshitery and boring 1 dimensional personality, we are 5 seasons in and he just doesn't grow as a character.

Man I'm telling ya, fuck Bakugo.

Weakest season of all. A huge drastic drop in enjoyment. I can count with one hand on how many episode I actually gave it 5 out of 5. I rather have 25% lesser episodes in this season to prepare better for season 6 (even though it doesn't work this way). Hesitant if this season should score 6 or 7 out of 10.

can someone tell me who the kid at the end of the scene is called dai-kun? is he the same kid at the beginning of the ending because he brought an endevor doll? spoilers are okay too

Forget about that Dai kid, he's just a wannabe, the character you should look forward the most in season 6 is:

Finally, we get her introduction, season 6 will blow your minds away with that character, she's the best fucking character in the show by far. HYPE!!!
